  1. I've never had the issue with E6000 having a heat reaction. It is only certain types of metal I think, and most snaps should be fine.
  2. I just re-read that and I feel I was comign across sort of aggressively.. That wasn't my intention, sorry. Thanks though, I'll hopefully get the pics done soon.
  3. It could be, but RT-MOD still doesn't have the swoop. That's why it is sorta unfair to pick on AM alone... I am gonna be finished with my blaster soon and I will have ticked all of the boxes for Centurion and ones that aren't even requirements. I don't care if I get grandfathered, but I don't want to be denied Centurion just because my kit isn't a super-accurate fan sculpt or a lineage suit. I have almost taken this kit as far as it can go accuracy-wise. I have one more mod planned but that can wait.
  4. Hot damn! Nice work guys, this will surely be useful for lots of people!
  5. I recommend using nylon ones (or even elastic). Much more forgiving, and the E6000 loves the fabric, it dries within the hour instead of the usual 24 hours for plastic to plastic.
  6. Oh, yeah. The swoop was a bit of a gamble because I was using a sealing iron and once it was rasied there would be no lowering it without damaging the plastic. I'm fairly happy wth it though. It sticks out a bit far and isn't quite as defined as I wanted, but it is there. Besides, if it did ruin the plastic I wold just buy a set of new bells or something to replace them.
  7. How so? o_O
  8. He said her 'latex' hand guards, not rubber.
  9. No armour is really 'easiest'. There will be trimming involved no matter what. You'll get the hang of it real quick, don't stress too much.
  10. The thermal detonator should come with your armour. It's a little buil in itself, yes. Read through a few build threads and look for people's detonators. It might take a bit of reading, but you'll also get a good insight to armour building.
  11. Like so: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=21412#entry265769 Hope that helps.
  12. Thanks guys. Good call, I'll get some pics up as soon as I neaten up my kidney plate and backplate mods.
  13. It wouldn't really make it heaps thicker. A few mm at the most. There would have to have been something there, or those poor guys would have been hella uncomfortable. Or maybe not, there's no evidence either way I guess. Anyway, that's what I would probably use if there were no liners included.
  14. In an attempt to make my AM kit a little more accurate before trying for Centurion I have reshaped my bells and had a crack at adding on the 'swoop' to the left shoulder bell. I also did a slight re-shaping on the biceps to make them more comfortable and a better fit. So, let me know what you think. Any advice on doing it better or improving it and stuff is more than welcome. The right shoulder bell (pictured on the left) is untouched besides having trimmed return edges. The left shoulder bell (pcitured on the right) is about halfway to the shape I wanted. I was originally using a kettle of boiling water. All done. I ended up using a pot of boiling water, submerging the shoulder bells for about 5 - 8 seconds, and then squeezing the sides almost all the way together and putting them under cold water to set (whilst still holding them in shape). Biceps, before and after respectively. There is no massive noticeable difference but they are much more comfortable now and don't dig into my biceps. So yeah. That's that. I suppose this means more or less that there is no need to replace your AM bells for accuracy. They can be as accurate as you like, and you can do it in your own kitchen! (if you have a hobby iron in your kitchen ) EDIT: Forgot the pic of the swoop. I would like to have done it better, but I think it looks alright.
  15. I think that wearing a black bandana like Karin reckons the troopers wore under the neck seals will work well. Saves making a dedicated liner.
  16. If the split rivets have a 7mm head they are good. (or 8mm..one of the two. Somone correct me if I am wrong. )
  17. Alright, no problems. It didn't end up mattering because I forgot my undersuit, neck seal, gloves and blaster when I went to my mate's house anyway so no photos regardless. I'll probably get them done by the end of this week.
  18. You could just trim them a little and use boiling water to reshape them and make them more accurate. That's what I intend to do with my AM bells.
  19. Go for it Tony! Set a standard and encourage your garrison mates to follow!
  20. You did the right thing coming here and asking first. The second thing you need to do is avoid eBay at all costs. It may appear to be cheap and a great deal but the work and effort and money you will put in to replacing it...it justs adds up a lot. Check out the thread about getting started .
  21. Thanks guys! I've really only got the back mod to be done on my AM and I have ticked the boxes. But I am gonna neaten up my chest first, and give the whole thing a nice polish. Quick question: can my Centurion application photos be sans blaster and have the blaster photos added on later? I ask because I have rebuilt it but my T-track hasn't arrived yet..and I wanna get my photos done this weekend while I am with trooper who will know how to take the photos (the alternative is asking my mum to take them again.. ) So could I do the front/back, and side photos w/out holding my blaster and add the photos of the completed blaster once the T-track arrives?
  22. I would just use boiling water. That is how I reshape my pieces. Either a bit pot of water that is boiling, you duo it in for about 10-15 secs and then bend it and put it under cool water. Of you can use a kettle and pour boiling water over the piece wjere you want it to bend and bend it as you go. It practically starts bending an impolite person you pour. (might need two people for that and be careful) I would avoid a heat gun at all coats because they can cause serious damage tothw amour if you aren't careful. I've heard a lot of horror stories about heat guns.
  23. Wow, you're sure going above and beyond. You're doing well mate, keep up the awesome work!
  24. FINALLY pulled my finger out after months and months of procrastination and joined the ranks in September. I am still not entirely happy with my getup though, and am going to be doing some major strapping overhauling and a few cosmetic changes this weekend before trying for Centurion.
