Noah, what type of snaps are you using? If you're using Tandy leather snaps that shoudn't happen, IF however, you're using tandy leather snaps i'll just be quiet

ATA is pretty much spot on. RT mod is slightly whiter that AM (AM is kinda yellowish) this is my ATA ESB helmet with my old AM chest under sunlight. You can see it's almost the same color. (I use an RT mod chest now and ATA backplate) ------------- Hope this helps

Fans aren't necessary, really. I live in Puerto Rico and it's VERY hot here and I've trooped under the sun, like 90 or 95 degrees (probably hotter) and I sweat a LOT. Unless you have some sort of medical condition... well yeah, you might need a bunch of fans so you can keep your face cool.
