  1. Or to put it like this, if you had a concealed carry license where you troop, would you still carry a live firearm while in costume? The 501st would not allow that ('m pretty sure about that at least). While it would be your right as a license holder and US citizen to do so.
  2. They've never been part of FISD
  3. Worst joke ever.
  4. -------------
  5. Take care Karin! We'll still be here when you're ready.
  6. I've been a DL, DO and GML. If you're going to make a display piece just for yourself there's no wrong of doing it. But if you want to join the 501st you should use paint.
  7. They are over here: http://www.501stspecopsdet.net/
  8. That's because you haven't done step 1 in this guide yet.
  9. Good for you then that TM and RS are in the UK. It's inside EU so there is no import taxes or extra VAT (moms). Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  10. eFX does not have an accurate helmet for sale yet, so best to stay away from them for now. TM or RS can sell you a completed helmet that will both be accurate and ready to do.
  11. You build them the same way you build any other accurate stormtrooper helmet.
  12. Looks like it has the same flaw as the fiber glass helmets. Namely the white flares on either side of the eyes being too thick.
  13. Might want to put a layer of clear coat on it. Should be enough. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  14. ALWAYS wear glove liners of cotton or lycra inside the rubber gloves.
  15. or www.romfx.com
  16. If you make them yourself from scratch it can. But that assumes you have the tools and know-how. Otherwise it might turn out either crappy or more expensive through trial and error.
  17. In Japan you should have an easy time finding "Tamiya" brand paint. It's used for model painting and is of very high quality.
  18. Yes to mirror shine. Can be grimey though. The real armour was silver plated (I'm interpreting that as vacuum metalized like 3PO.) Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  19. Nobody is using them for anything yet, because nobody has them.
  20. Gossip may very well get lost in time. That's not what I meant with search engine indexing. What I meant was that when actual conclusions are made, the should be easy to find. But perhaps even more important are the discussions leading up to them.
  21. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11538-the-various-types-of-armor-and-where-to-find-them/
  22. But you're loosing insight into what's said, if it's true or not. Lots of gossiping on facebook. And it's not indexed by search engines, so in 2 years when someone needs to find what was said, it's impossible to find.
  23. You should expect around $150 USD on a helmet kit and about the same for the blaster kit, plus shipping on top for both. Then you need to build it yourself too. If you want them already finished then add at least another $100 on each.
  24. You won't find good quality, good looks and cheap in the same product. But if you're willing to spend some time putting them together yourself, there is some money to be saved at least.
