Doopydoos all resin E-11 build
Locitus replied to MartinSivertsen's topic in General Weapons Discussion
Some people use a flat head screwdriver bit for that. Just a suggestion. -
Sounds about right. Yeah, it is a little odd to put the coax connector there on the inside, but as I was googling pics I saw more examples of that, so it's not unique. I'll try to find a picture of it. I assume it's an easy way of connecting one part of the amp with another, for serviceability and easy repairs. This old radio (as in com radio) has several coax sockets internally for signal transfer. Source: http://www.repeater-builder.com/mitrek/mitrek-interfacing.html

Also: Capacitors tend to get larger as their capacity increases, so if these found ones are too big, we need to look for lower values than 0.002 uF. Capacitors store a charge in rolled up metal foil inside them. More surface area -> more capacity -> larger unit.

I think E looks like a male part of a coaxial cable socket, usually used for antenna cables. Check the back of your TV or VCR. F looks like a resistor. The fact that they appear to be connected in serial strengthen my belief that it is. D is probably the same capacitor as B. Why the shield is around it, I don't know.

Btw... the small resistor you've got test mounted on the russrep cylinders isn't a resistor, it's a capacitor. Note the "0.002 uF" that means micro Farad. Resistors are measured in Ohm.

Look at this vaccum tube socket for example, now obviously we can't see the inside, but it has the same kind of socket shield. And another socket with similar holes for the tube pins

I don't think they are actually called "transistors", but they are the predecessor of transistors. A literal translation from Swedish is "radio tubes". I tried to google the english word for them but had a brain freeze... Edit: new google search calles them Radio tubes, or vaccum tubes. So I guess a literal translation isn't too far off.

Nice research Andy! I think those look very much like old transistor sockets. for these: Not very unlikely if the stuff really came from old audio electonics to find a few of those. Nice research Andy!

I believe the CRL says up to 1/2 inch is okey. If I were you, I'd just suck my gut in some more for the photos.

Oh, I thought no one would be interested in that... There will be lots of pictures my friend, don't worry!

You guys do make a strong case that there are some good stuff on Ebay. I thing however that's a little besides the point. If you don't know what you're after, it's pretty much impossible to make a lucky find anywhere, unless you are struck by dumb luck. It's like a professional scrap collector that walks into a junkyard and sees a 1000 quid XYZ (and buys it for 10) that had been sitting there for 10 years because no one else knew what it was. If you know what you're doing then some good stuff can be found on ebay. But there's no guarantee.

You can also use a pair of pliers bend the legs out, after you've bent them a little bit with the screwdriver, like troopermaster says.

Well, for the price I pay I'd get a deac sterling, if only they were legal in Sweden without a license!

I'm glad you like the pictures. Very interesting indeed! And congratulations to completing the templates. This sure has been a good community effort. Personally I'm soon about to receive a full aluminum E-11 from Jörg in Germany. Almost a year in the making, as as good as it gets without getting a deactivated sterling!

(Please read) It's tough being a Queen (re: hand guards orders)
Locitus replied to Sonnenschein's topic in Off Topic
I remember being worried about my hand guards after 2 weeks + had gone by, but on the 3rd week they showed up. Lesson learned from this is: just because it's not that far to Austria, deliveries can still take ages. The package in my case and probably for my fellow nordic friends here is that the package most likely is shipped by truck all the way up here instead by air as it would from e.g, america. Karin, you're an outstanding seller for doing this, and as you say, it is the professional thing to do. -

I found some pics of cut up sterling used for teaching, that might interest people here.

Original boots UK7.5 found!
Locitus replied to troopermaster's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
I think we're looking at another "Roots boots" discussion. -
I attached my holster with snaps on the inside and rivets on the outside. If you go through my build-thread I'm sure you can find some details on that.

Thermal Detonator, top plate placement
Locitus replied to James's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
I think that varies with the kit you get, but it's usually included. -
ATA armor ANH HERO or ANH STUNT

You're not going to get bashed. Don't worry. Our own FISD leader Deatrin posed for some offical LFL pics with a DLT-19 in his ESB-style TK. I'm far more concerned about this trend among scouts to use a DLT. "You picked a comfortable costume, now you have to live with the drawback of being stuck with the noisy cricket."
