I went with the trim, assemble sand then paint method. If you hold the can too far away the droplets will try to dry in the air before they land on the helmet. That will give you a dull powdery look. Too close and you will start to run the paint. My motto is a great paintjob is one step away from a paint run. As far as roughing up the surface prior to painting, I used 600 grit emory cloth.

If Im gonna do a clone, I'd have to go Republic Commando.

Something has been bugging me about this helmet ever since I finished it but I couldnt put my finger on it. It was the tube stripes. They we're too big. I remember Scott sending me a message saying he thought they might be too big, but they looked fine to me at the time. So in prep for my troop tomorrow I removed the tube stripes and Novus'd the whole helmet. Here is a pic of how it looks right now. I'm off to look at pics to make sure I do it right and put on some of Scott's most excellent blue stripes of the correct size. If anybody needs some black ones for TX I have several, free to a good home.

I think you did a fantastic job on the thighs. Its always good to see correctly shaped thighs on FX armor. I think you should trim the bottom of your chest plate and give it a return edge. There's tutorial for it. Great job. You get a screen cast helmet on that and you're golden! At first glance it even looks elite worthy. Go over the elite checklist and see if you're missing anything.

Just make sure you dont end up looking like part of that unit that got ambushed by Ewoks in the Crayola factory, man that was an ugly battle...

Looking very good! I tried using just snaps alone to attach the moulded plastic front of the belt to my canvas belt. Every now and then the snaps would come loose. Looks like you used the same snaps that I did. I re-enforced the snaps with insudtrial velcro and now I dont come unsnapped anymore. I wish mt TD had the flat mounting pieces. I had to make my own TD clips that wrap around the cylinder.

Shade 3 is the most commonly used. Of course you could always get them from me. I have shade 3 and a new lens that is a shade darker that is the perfect emerald green to match the ones used in the movies. The emerald green ones are harder to see out of in poorly lit areas. I charge $6 a pair.

I work till midnight yay! Then tomorrow, I have a long overdue band practice. Picking up some spray paint to finish the DLT-19, Try to finish CS6, also I am gonna post pics of the new lens material I found. Its nice stuff, a llittle darker than shade 3.0 but the perfect shade of emerald green. Maybe take the boat out on Sunday.
