  1. Very nice! Thanks for sharing!
  2. I was going to try the same thing just havent got to it yet. I too would really like to see how you did it. It looks great!
  3. Looks awesome! Great job! Really nice blaster!
  4. No question its an AP.
  5. I used the Model Master on my AP and it did work great. Never really thought to discuss it here but it is the perfect paint for the vocoder.
  6. Thats pretty much what I did. Started small and kept adding til i got it. I used one of those rounded flat brushes like above. I took my time and kept playing with it til I got what I wanted.
  7. Everyone rolled their eyes and I got so many comments like, "you spent how much on that?" Then I showed up at the halloween party and the jaws dropped. They came over to the house and saw the mannequin displayed and then all of sudden they were interested in hearing about how I got it and where I wear it and the 501st as an organization and the charity work and smiles on the kids faces. They weren't rolling their eyes they wanted to try on the helmet or their kids wanted to run around shooting the blaster. My friends wife rolled her eyes at me and then a few weeks later invited me over on halloween to pass out her candy. She loved the reactions of all of her neighbors and that they still talk about the stormtrooper at her house. They all come around sooner or later. You may be a Star Wars geek but everyone has a little Star Wars geek in them somewhere. Thats what makes this universe so...well...universal.
  8. I think it was when it was re-released in 1978. I was 3 and 1/2 with my mom and dad and it was at the Greater Pittsburgh drive-in. It was a sad day when they bulldozed that for a Wal-Mart. <_< It is truely one of my earliest memories! I saw ESB and ROJ with my dad at regular theaters and remember standing in a huge line for ROJ. I remember replaying the garbage smasher scene with my friends. I remember I had a plastic helmet that no way resembled a stormtrooper except that it was white but it was close enough for me! I always wanted to be a stormtrooper! They were the coolest!
  9. I like the stunt better. More than just the improved vision, the time that the hero helmet is shown on screen really isnt that long. Han and luke really dont wear them much. You actually see the stunt helmets in more scenes. The hero always looks compressed to me.
  10. I never saw ANH in an actual theater. Even when they were rereleased I missed it. <_< Although I do have 110" screen in my basement and way better sound that most movie theaters anyway so I guess I shouldn't complain!
  11. That is identical to my AP kit
  12. I'm 32. One of my first memories...IN MY LIFE was seeing ANH with my parents at the drive in.
  13. LOVE THE BACKGROUND! It jumped right out at me! Big improvement!
  14. Girl Scouts scare me! I try to go into the bank and they are sitting outside with a table full cookies! Might as well just sign over my paycheck!
  15. I actually have mine torn apart and in the next couple weeks might be doing a full tutorial with lots of pics. But to answer your question for the body I used and old bed pillow! I just cut a hole in the middle of the short ends of the pillow and fed the body pipe up through and then cut holes in the top of the long sides and fed the shoulder pipes through to the fittings. Add duct tape and i instantly had a nice solid chest and back and stomach. For the rest we wrapped the pipes in batting. I guess you get it in cotton or polyester from the fabric store. Either the stuff you put in pillows or you can buy it on a roll for appolstering chairs. We wrapped it around the pipes and secured it with duct tape. You kinda have to play with it as you are dressing the mannequin in the tight fitting under suit but you can get looking pretty good concidering most of it is covered by white plastic anyway. I love my mannequin and being able to display my pride and joy everyday. Its a crowd pleaser too. I will have to post a pic of him dressed for Christmas! We had fun with it.
  16. I remember in college I was on the Ranger Challege Team affiliated with the ROTC program and we were acting as opposition force on a Nation Guard field training excersise. It was pouring down rain and we setup a camp that was supposed to get hit from the east. My buddy and I put our ponchos together in a make shift shelter where we had the M60 setup. Well as usual they got lost in the dark and the fog and ended up hitting us from the west. I just remember the woods lighting up behind us and the next thing I know we tore the shelter down and I was firing away with that M60.....Rambo style! It was big fun at the time but of course we were only firing blanks which made the next day of cleaning that thing a pain! <_< It's those times that make me wish I would have joined up for real but playing soldier for a while was a great experience. No wonder why I like to play stormtrooper so much!
  17. According to Wikipedia the name was specifically chosen to use his name and give reference to THX-1138. The certification program came about in 1982.
  18. Great pics! Great armor! What do you mean you need a blaster? Don't you have like 6 or 7 of them laying around?
  19. There's a controversy among the surround sound guys over the THX thing. Many figured it was taken from THX-1138 but Tomlinson Holman helped Lucas develop the standards for THX certification and says it comes from the Tomlinson Holman Experiment. Either way it makes my theater rock! I love when people see Star Wars again for the first time in my theater! It's worth every penny to see the jaws drop!
  20. Yeah! That's what a stormtrooper is supposed to look like! Great picture!
  21. I'm building my blaster right now and I'm using Locktite 5 min apoxy. I'm sticking plastic to metal and metal to metal and its working great! Starts to thicken in 5 min, fills in gaps great, and supports weight in 20 min. Full cure that I can file, sand, and grind in a couple hours! So far I'm a big fan!
  22. I think pretty much everyone needs padding or strapping to keep them up. Mine are too small and need shimmed to wrap around my leg yet i still need straps to keep them from sliding down. Straps work great! Some guys attach the straps to the ab/cod piece and some use a regular belt under their armor with the straps attached to the belt in a garter belt type setup.
  23. I'm in the same boat color wise. My AP bucket is ABS but since its much newer than my older set of FX armor there is quite a color difference. I guess the armor has yellowed over the years. <_< I have even concidered selling it and getting new FX. RT is kinda outta my price range right now.
