  1. Hard to say. What mic are you using. I have just the board from inside the unit mounted in my helmet and I am using aerator speakers and the mic that came with the unit. Its all in my helmet and I get no feedback. In fact it took me a few tries until I got the cheap mic in the right place to pic up my voice. I know some guys were using more sensitive mics and getting feedback but I would think it would be difficult to get feedback from the mic that came with it. When I was testing the wiring I had the speaker that came with the unit pointing back at me so i could hear it and the mic wasnt getting feedback. Unless your chest piece is directing the sound back up toward your head where the mic is? I previously had a radio shack amp on my belt and got a ton of feedback. Its a trial and error thing. <_<
  2. I cut 1 "dent" off mine at the wrist. Much better.
  3. I think it was mentioned in another application that it being an FX kit it looks like the Thermal Detenator has the shiney mylar strips and it should be all flat gray. Scott just tell me to go away if that is not correct and I will never try this again! <_<
  4. In fact I don't think there is a piece of my armor that I dont fill out and then some! I'm going back over my entire setup for elite status and there is nothing I dont have to shim. I have shims on the forearms, shims on the biceps, Not even mentioning the 3 inch shims on the thighs. <_<
  5. Some of us whose butts actually fill out the butt plate and then some don't have to worry about it. It's you skinny little dudes that you can see the inside of your butt plates from and angle.
  6. Definetly padding! I had the liner in my FX and I'm changing it over. I custom made padding for my AP and it freaking rocks! I have also been told that some feel like the less space around your head, the less hot air can build up and that padding is cooler. The padding also absorbs sweat. -----
  7. Congrats! Looks awesome! Hope to be joining you soon!
  8. Congrats dude! I was watching that one to see how high it went. Awesome deal!
  9. Congratulatons Jim! Be joining you soon!
  10. It is really strange to see that helmet backwards. Everytime I look at myself in the mirror I'm like, "YUCK!"
  11. it dries different than the it is in the bottle. I think I have 3 coats on it.
  12. Here's my AP bucket with the decals that came with the kit. The frown and ears are testors 1138. I think its pretty close. Can you see a difference?
  13. I am actually going to be tearing down my mannequin to get my armor up to elite standards so when I do that I will take some assembly pics. Until then here is Scott's tutorial. ---------
  14. It does take alot of time to get the fit right. We are talking several hours! And crank that hardware down super tight! Mine looked somewhat like yours before I tightened them fully. I have my screws countersunk and one almost pulled through. The sides of the helmet will flatten slightly to match the ears. Here's mine and like Alain said...no glue, no bondo, no nothing. I had my doubts when I started but I got it. ------------
  15. Helmet is now 100% done! Side gaps done. I have the material for my belt should be done this week. Buttons should be on the way shortly. Biggest thing is the blaster. Should be done before summer! Nothing lights a fire under ones butt like free decals!
  16. Congrats Terrell! I'm really excited about the elite section as I plan to be there this year! Here's to a great year to come! I am at your service sir!
  17. Thank you Ed!
  18. A buddy that does autobody work gave me some in a mountain dew bottle but I think its made by 3M. Ive seen it at the auto store and the bottle is like almost 20 bucks!
  19. I'm having enough trouble just trying to reach elite status with my TK and you guys have 4 or 5 setups! To me the shiney white stormtrooper is all I have ever wanted to be! I guess if I had the time, space, money, and my wife had the patience I would do a Vader. I don't think I could ever bring myself to roughing up and dirtying (if thats a word) a new set of armor to do a sandtrooper, and I wouldnt want a biker scout unless it came with the real bike! (tell me that wouldnt be fun) I never really liked the bounty hunters either. I think they made it seem like the stormtroopers couldn't get it done so the empire had to freelance! <_< I think if anything I will just do a more accurate set of TK armor! I could have a dress set and a casual set!
  20. I've built alot of models in my time and I have never had any luck with Krylon anytime I tried to use it. Rustolium is a much better choice out of the can. Recently I did a football helmet for my dad and I actually went to a local automotve store and bought a can of spray touch up paint and did a 2 step base then clear coat. I did 2 coats of flat base and then 4 coats of clear. I then rubbed it out with finishing glaze and it looked like glass.
  21. I would use a 1200 grit or so and just knock the sheen off. Shiney is bad when you are painting. You need the rough surface for the paint to stick to.
  22. I have trouble feeling sorry for guys who play their whole career for one team and then jump ship to a team because it gives them a better chance to win a ring. There are alot of guys , like Dan Marino, that deserved a ring. The best thing about sports is that you still have to go out get it done. Nobody is just going to hand you a championship.
  23. Put me down right in line with pretty much everyone. Empire was the best. The AT-ATs to this day awe me! Then its A New Hope - The trench run is a close second plus you get to see Han and Luke in armor!
