  1. Yeah I'm gonna work on that tomorrow. I just got him done about midnight my time and he is just leaning there. I really dont have a way to secure him yet. I need to re-pose the legs a little but I was so excited that it was finally on display instead of in a cardboard box that I wanted to get pics up ASAP for you guys to check out. Its also gonna look a ton better with the AP lid when I get that done.
  2. I took some cues from Scott M's tutorial and a few other sites and built my PVC mannequin to display my armor at the Christmas party this weekend. I think I have about 25 bucks in the material and another 25 in a new underarmor "like" suit. I got all of the hardware from Home Depot and the suit pants are Nordictrack from Sears ($15 on sale) and the top is an off brand from a discount store here in PA called TJ Max ($9). That way I could dress this thing and wouldnt have to undress it every time I wanted to wear the armor. I can now just remove the plastic and still have 2 other under suits to wear. I wanted it to look pretty natural and not like a stick figure and suprisingly I think I pulled it off. I'm pretty happy with it. The parts fit together pretty tightly so I didn't glue anything yet and that allowed me to move it around til I got the pose I wanted. I actually think it looks better on the mannequin than it does on me! Let me know what you think!
  3. On Halloween I had a few kids refer to me as a Transformer. It was funny but it seemed like the little kids knew what I was better than the little bit older kids. And alot of high school age kids are totally clueless. Just seems that there is a resurgence of Star Wars fans. There is part of a generation there that was completely lost. It skipped a an age group or something.
  4. I like the underarmour but have never worn it for trooping. I have a full set of cold gear. My question is what do you guys do to cover the emblem on the back of the neck? Do you leave your neck seals on the outside of the neck? I also have a full body spandex body suit that I have been using but I would like to switch to the UA.
  5. Congrats on finally getting your lid! My AP is supposed to ship this weekend! Hopefully I won't be too far behind ya. I'm starting my PVC mannequin this weekend so wish me luck! We are having a big party on Dec 22nd and I want my setup on display for all to see. Doubt I will have the new helmet done by then but it will be cool none the less!
  6. Again just an amazing job. You are one of the many reasons this is THE site for anyone that is into this hobby. This thread is just in time as I'm expecting my new bucket tomorrow or the next day. I can't wait to jump on it.
  7. I can't believe you get that finish from hand painting! I've built many model cars in my days and have always sprayed. I was going to spray everything on my AP bucket until I saw this. The color looks dead on too!
  8. "I will call him...Mini Me!" Makes me want to have a son right now! From someone who considered making my own from scratch....I can only wish to have this kind of talent! Just Awesome!
  9. If I paid $1000 for a helmet I wouldn't want to wear it. Thats what my FX helmet is for. This thing is going under glass and my buddies will have to pay me to look at it! I don't claim to be an expert but I know enough that the original armor was very flimsy and was prone to falling apart. You can wear it but its not going to hold up like some other helmets that are designed for trooping.
  10. This got bumped back up for this time of year so right now give me Christmas music. The classics....Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, and Dean Martin! I get warm and fuzzy just thinking about it. Nothing makes me feel like a kid more than Andy Williams on the radio....and a new movie accurate bucket under the tree! Oh, and an official empirial issued E-11 blaster - "with a compass in the stock and this thing that tells time!" And no I won't shoot my out! I promise Mom!
  11. I bought a pair of women's gloves too at Target. They are just black cotton gloves that work great and they come up to almost my elbows so i never have to worry about any skin showing. I have proper rubber too that are ANH but like it says above I could never imagine actually using them in a practical sense.
  12. I like the scrapes and scuffs too. Any stormtrooper pic you see up close the boots and even the shin pieces themselves are marked up.

Not to mention they have to be the noisiest part of your suit the way they flap around when you walk.
  14. Did it eat the plastic right away or did it do it over time? I used it on several pieces of mine and had no immediate effects. Just wondering if i should clean again to make sure its all off. I never put it directly on the plastic. I put it on a rag and wipe until the "sticky" is gone and then buff it pretty well so maybe I have just been lucky.
  15. Please grant me 501st access as well. http://www.501st.com/members/displaymember...amp;userID=8638 Thanks so much, Tim
