  1. Congrats Mark.
  2. you can use light switch faceplate screws. they come already white. You can find them at any hardware store. You will want to countersink them ever so slightly so they don't stick out.
  3. Nate, you can go to any hobby store and buy small packages of styrene. They come in 6x12" sheets of 2 in a pack if I can remember right. That's what me and Paul both used. You will want to get plain opaque white .040 Styrene. Usually on a spinning rack with all different types of sheets. -----
  4. Sweet. I'm all for us becoming a BSG forum. So Say We All!!!
  5. Thought I would post my ANH TK with holster and E-11. I realize it isn't Elite status but I haven't upgraded my gun completely yet. All it needs are the D-ring and counter with the 2 tube things on top. I'm hoping to get status sometime after the summer. My helmet isn't correct either as I prefer the Hero style but get ill looking out the bubble lenses. I'll make a full Hero soon though. It's in the works as I am typing. I still think it could be CRL worthy though.
  6. I made mine 7/8" on all pieces except the bicep which is 1/2" I have small arms so I wanted it to be somewhat smaller so it didn't float on my arm. I cut all overlapping tabs to 3/8" and 1/4" on the bicep. -----------
  7. Good looking armor Lou. Video helped show it off a lot better than stills would have. Nice job. Static burst sounds perfect. I like the idea of blowing into the mic so you can do it when you feel like it. Most of the time you don't always here it in the movies. At least from what I noticed so thats a good touch and sounds great. I really want to do sound. I'm getting hoarse screaming out of my helmet because my newton and radio shack amps both don't work and they are brand new never been used. I have terrible luck with this I guess.
  8. Thats cool. Thanks everyone for letting me voice my opinion and not bite my head off even though I didn't do my homework. I might just try for Elite Status one of these days now. I think I will go for the ANH though as that is my armor. I love that people are going as good as you can get. It makes it all the more better no matter how it's done. That means I have to build another true "Hero" helmet and make a new gun. I can alter my belt to take up the gap I have in my sides. I lost enough weight for that finally, I think. Maybe I'll go stunt. Who knows. I never can decide. Good night everyone. Best of luck to all of you who are going for Elite Status. Scott is a great guy and his decals are top notch. Maybe I need to get Elite so I can get the decals. WoooHooo. now i need a car to put them on. Sheesh. this hobby is getting expensive.
  9. It was May 25th, 1977. I was 6 1/2 years old and my dad took me to see Star Wars at the Tri State theater here in Delaware. I think it may have been in Wilmington. I would have thought it was the State Theater on Main Street, Newark. I was wrong. I don't remember anything about it but my sister says all I could talk about was that movie. "Do you remember when he did that." Did you see how they did this." I don't remember seeing any of the original movies in the theaters. I have blocked out a lot of memories from my childhood and wish I could get them all back. Maybe I'll get hypnotized and see if I can remember any of it. The only thing I remember is going back to Kansas after visiting my dad and my step dad taking me to the Dodge dealership just across the interstate, and who was there? "DARTH VADER!!! OMG it's him. Look, look. See him? He's right over there." He had two Jawa's with him. That was AWESOME. I found out later, in life, that a girl I knew was one of those Jawa's. Kind of ruined the experience a little. I do know I have been a Star Wars fan ever since that first day in the theaters. I saw all of them the summer they came out. Maybe not opening day, but my dad was the one who took me to see them. I had a model Millenium Falcon that you assembled and it had lights where the engines were on the back. I blew the hell out of that thing with fireworks. Good times. I flew back to NYC from CO to watch EPIII with some friends of mine in Long Island. That was good times. I saw EPII with them when I was still living in NYC. Those were all great stories everyone. I read every last one of them and then posted my lame one. I SO wish I could remember them.
  10. well ain't that a trip, I never thought to do an ESB helmet because i didn't like the black frown but I never realized that the traps and tears were decals. I would have assumed that they weren't. I have to renig on all my statements. If they are painted good enough, I think they should be able to get status. Again, understand my vote and past statements were all because I assumed tehy were painted like in ANH. To my shock and horror, they look like model decals. Thats right, I think they are the same type of decals that you get with models you put together. Get it wet, stick it to the helmet and viola, decals. They look hand painted to. I don't think I understand why you would paint them if they never were painted though. Assuming makes an an impolite person out of me, not u. Always do your research. Sorry guys. I have to go back on my vote and say No, you shouldn't be able to get status, it should stay the way it is. Now I am all confused by this question and why it is being voted on. I can understand the ANH being painted, because that I know to be true, ESB seems to me that you wouldn't paint them because they weren't painted. Is that correct?
  11. Very interesting. I just read the standards. Are they decals in the movie? I don't think I have any ESB images. time to Google.
  12. My point in that is in regards to my statement. I should have thought more about my vote really but I was basing my vote on looks more than screen accuracy. I know your not replacing decals and I didn't mean I would paint them if I wanted to get it. I was just stating that to be the most Screen Accurate, I suppose they should be hand painted. It is afterall, THE movie way. Are they not included now? If that is the case, thats even more silly than me saying all decals should lose their status. I would rather see decals because they are in fact perfect. But Hand paintd should be able to. I don't think so, but they should be included in the Elite requirements. Does that make sense? Looks NO, accuracy, yes. I want to vote again.
  13. it's glossy, but it is still rough and sloppy looking. I'm trying to think how the Empire would do it if they weren't a film company trying to bang out 200 suits in a few days. For filming at a far distance, it would look amazing so yes, they look great for an extra. Not a hero. It's a nice helmet. I will give him that. I suppose if Elite status means as close to screen accurate, all those who have decals should lose their status. So Maybe I should change my answer for that reason and that reason only. I don't plan on getting Elite Status so I will always choose decals. It's more Empire to me. Screen Printed would even be better but that to me seems almost impossible to get into the recessed area. I don't want to step on toes or insult people. It's just my opinion on how they look in general.
  14. I'm a CA glue believer. CA stands for Cyanoacrylate also knows as superglue and can be found and any hobby store. ------- Extra thick 10-25 sec. Glue. It says apply to one surface and hold tightly for 10 seconds. I let it sit for about 15 minutes even though I didn't have to and then glued the next pieces and so on. It all worked great and I cut my armor pieces in half so that I could glue the armor together like they were done in the movies and in the promo shots. ------- Here are my biceps old and new showing the cap strips. ---------- All armor pieces took 6 glue sessions to complete instead of the normal 2 if you used the overlapping edges to glue together. I cut the overlapping pieces in half and glued one side to the strip, then the other side to the same strip. Then glued the inside strip for extra support. then did the same with the other side. They hold great and have not had any issues as of yet. This was the first time I had ever built armor and I didn't mess up one piece except that I made my strips too wide for th biceps. That's why I made new ones. I also used it on my gun when gluing the resin pieces on it. Marvinbot, I would try to put paper towels folded up under the clamps. I used that to hold my armor together while it was gluing so I could do more than one piece at a time. It works great and should protect your armor from getting scratched. You might even try cutting some sponges you would use to clean dishes with. they make thin sponge rag things that would work perfectly I think.
  15. well, here I must be on my own in this. I choose to do a hero and REFUSE to put in bubble lenses. I'd have to call mine a hybrid. I use stunt lenses and a hero frown. I like the "kind-and-gentle" side of it also. Mine was based off of Luke's bucket with no white showing above the eyes but there is no way I can walk around and not see clearly. I have great vision and I am not screwing that up for anything. If you want Elite status, make the one you need, then wear the one you love. If that is the Stunt, you're all set for only needing one bucket. I will make a second with bubble lenses when I decide to go elite. I want to finish losing weight so I don't have to add any material between my ab and kidney piece. Which means I will have to remake my belt and make a second blaster to put the counter box and tubes thing on it. I left those off of my current one. TK4251 gallery
  16. Thanks Paul. That means a lot. As you can see, the chin stencil is wrong so I am repainting it with a new one I did. It will look even better after it is finished. I painted the black today, I'll put the clear coat on tomorrow and then remount lenses. Got some troops this weekend I don't want to miss. I did a display bucket that I wish I could have kept but i made it for my brother-in-law so I couldn't keep it from him. He loves it. I won't post in here anymore though since i have the access. Thanks again Paul for your assistance.
  17. I just met the future mrs. tray nichols tonight and it was my dad who decided to tell her I am into Star Wars and that I have a complete Stormtrooper costume. She didn't look at me funny but who knows, she might have thought I was a geek. Little does she know that when we start to date, she'll be wearing her own costumes soon. Okay, I can't be sure she is the future mrs. tray but damn she was the hottest little thing. HELLZ yeah. Imma gonna work on that. I love my geekdom and wear it proudly. Everyone should.
  18. Thanks Paul. I had missed that in the first post and only just saw it after I had written that I still hadn't gotten the access. Thanks again.
  19. Yeah, Page 33 I requested 501st access before Stephen and still don't have it. Can I get that please. thanks. TK4251 on board. I guess without that page link you won't do it. I haven't goten my photo uploaded though. I do have photos, just not updated ones. I am in the process of a repaint on the helmet and I redid my biceps to. It's to wet out to paint so I am waiting.
