Very cool and very nice looking! I ended up getting the underarmor(ish) material, cutting foam pieces, sewing little pouches and attached them with velcro so I can take them out and wash them if they start to smell. I like this foam stuff though, looks very professional!

Yeah man that's really odd, I literally just finished my armor last week and the smell of glue is gone.

After looking at a few more pictures of other people's armor, I noticed I'm placing the white elastic in the wrong area which would be why they stick out so much. This being said, and judging from the picture, do you think the length they are at this point is good enough? Or should I trim them a little?

I have two question about my blaster scope, and the things that connect the chest to back over the shoulder. I did a hasbro conversion and those stupid little orange scope ends broke when I took them off. So essentially I just have a straight through hole (see pics below). Originally I planned to try to go find some pvc caps that would fit this but working in the pool industry for a few years I don't think there is a size that will fit. Any suggestions? Is it ok to keep it like this or do I need to find a way to adjust it? As far as the shoulder pieces I think what I need to do is trim them a little bit to make them shorter, as you will see in the pics they stick out a lot. Or another thing I was thinking is maybe I could heat them up so they form a little better to my shoulder? Any suggestions? Thanks, went out in my armor to a party the other night for the first time, it was awesome!

Extra plastic/ABS material?
VeryQueasy replied to VeryQueasy's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
Ugh, sorry about the triple post my computer started acting up. -
I've done all the gluing and I'm ready to start on assembling straps/snaps/elastic etc. I need some spare ABS type material to attach the snaps, I know you can use a for sale sign for the strips that go on the shins, can I use this material for the snaps as well? Thanks!

Epic! If only this was really the case. I despise the Bob.

My first bucket assembly... Problems!
VeryQueasy replied to VeryQueasy's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
One thing I have noticed, is the on the left eye (if you're looking at the helmet) there is a bump, someone in my garrison said it's actually screen accurate because there was a close up of a sandtrooper who had the same bump. Another said it was because when I glued the lenses in the plastic warped. I don't really want the bump there, is there a way to get it back or at least a little less bumpy? I'm assuming heat the plastic and move it down a little bit. What's the best technique for that? Thanks! -

Oh, and except for the mic tips, I'm in the process of getting them from a fellow garrison member. They're going to be speakers. -
My first bucket assembly... Problems!

I finished my bucket! I just have to attach the padding on the inside, thanks for everyone's help! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/VeryQueasy/501st/2010-03-1819-13-21864.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/VeryQueasy/501st/2010-03-1819-14-15370.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/VeryQueasy/501st/2010-03-1819-15-31037.jpg -
Thanks so much! That's a really big help, I can't wait to get home and try it out. I'm thinking maybe I didn't wash the parts good enough and the oils from the resin were still coming out, that's what one of the people in my garrison suggested. I'm going to sand them down, wash very thoroughly and try again with all the tips you've given me!

My armor is ABS.

Thanks for the tips Panda! It's actually not a matter of not being shiny (on the helmet) it's a matter of uneven surfacing. It looks similar to as if I got some super glue on the helmet. As far as prep goes, I did wash them, I actually used your post to do my conversion! I think my main problem was I did not use primer because the type of paint I got told me it was not needed. I used almost a full can trying to get it to stick on these parts, it looks horrible. I wish I could go home and get to work on this, thanks everyone for taking the time to help me out.
