I've been unable to find any exact details regarding it, but what is the general policy if any (or is it more of a garrison thing level thing?) regarding people neglecting their armor and still qualifying to go to 501st events.
Example: You fully meet requirements to join 501st and then let your suit go into disrepair over the next 11.9 months and then pull it out and put a few patches on it an hour before your yearly event.
Just going to bacta this thread to make a comment on this statement.
Helmets are most definitely not one size fits all. AP helmets are tiny, I have one, I love it, but it's by far the smallest helmet I've seen of any of the other troopers I've hung out with (I've seen a TM, FX, and RT right next to mine) I've got a MTK kit headed my way and once I get it assembled I'll post some pics of it beside my AP for size comparison. It's something to think about, I know a lot of people can simply can not fit their head into my AP helmet whilst they can get Eric's (RT) helmet on just fine.
Grab a suit of ATA and a MTK helmet and you can have an EIB eligible suit for around $700* which is CRAZY cheap
*You still need to buy E6000 glue, straps, undersuit, boots, gloves, etc. Putting the suit under $1000 for everything if you don't find any deals (which if you take your time you will), but that's still an amazing deal. Everything except under suits can be found on this site also btw check out trooperbay.
This is my prototype quick connect, this is the side that connects to my amp the helmet part is not finished yet.
There are 2 Neodymium magnets in opposite polarity that are fitted into some spare styrine I had laying around and then hot glued in. There is a length of solid core copper wire (blue+/blue- from spare cat5 cable) that is wrapped once around the magnets and dabbed ever so slightly with solder on the side you can't see (does not bond with magnet, but does fill in gabs that glue could get into and cause short)
I'm thinking what I am going to do is get a cheap money clip style clip and create a assembly that clips onto my neck piece.
For the helmet part it will just be a dongle that hangs around the back of the helmet and has matching polarity to neck piece, sense only 1 side of the magnet is readily accessible to the dongle it will automatically affix correctly to the contacts.
Neck unit is roughly 2.2mm wide and 4.4mm wide
I find it hard being even in the same room as some one wearing CABoots... sucks smells horrid...
Also CABoots look like costume pieces to me, cheap plastic sheen.
UGGHGHHGHGHHGH!!! RUBIES!!!!!
Also here's me dancing in my armor about 6 months ago, before I got dirty and shrunk my armor a bit.
I was spinning on the poll like a stripper too (staring at crowed, spinning around with poll behind my knee) no one caught it on video, but let me tell you... it was difficult... Won $10 gas card...
I agree, scrap helmet -- talk to Cap, AP, Gino, TE2, TM, or ATA and see if you guys can acquire a nice mold. Probably won't, but maybe just maybe one of them would be willing to help out Disney for say... lifetime passes? lol
I suppose that's true. Talked with gino a bit today, he seems to genuinely want to contribute to the community -- So I suppose if you're a helmet collector it would make sense to grab up a gino now.
Very nice, you think about extending the barrel? the hasbro's barrel is exactly the same diameter as the inside of a toilet paper roll (making very easy to make extension slugs with bondo)
AM are some nice suits, I did some work on Eric's and will probably buy one if I ever do a TK. The trimming can be a pain, however; it's no where near as bad as the trimming I had to do on my AP (came as chunks of molded plastic that had not been trimmed at all.) [Don't get me wrong, I love my AP! I'm a small guy fits like a glove.]
It's a good incentive man. Sometimes the truth hurts, but it's always good to have something passionate about that makes you want to be in better shape... It's hard to just exercise with no goal if that's not your normal routine.
