  1. The problem is that people that recast are committing copyright infringement, just like the original casters. Copyright infringement is not the same as stealing (basicly think of it like this, stealing is when you have an apple and some one takes that apple. copyright infringement is when you have an apple and some one else makes an apple (be it copying your apple or not), thus you do not lose your ability to sell your apple, it's just devalued.) Key problem is TE, TE, AP, ATA, all of them are committing copyright infringement -- the people casting from molds made from screen casts more so then others. Everyone is in the wrong technically, we're just really into the pot calling the kettle black around here.
  2. Speakers in your bucket is though, I personaly put mine in my chest, and to get the volume it takes for people to hear me it still feedbacks from time to time.
  3. Answered my own question, Denatured Alcohol -- omg works great.
  4. So i got the "stain" out but then whilst painting my frown I jacked the whoooooole thing up again =(... me and paint, we just shouldn't hang out -- I'm a bad influence... Tried to remove it with some acetone (on the abs, which did not damage it, but did soften it until dried, so i stopped) any one know how to get the "stain" that the enamel has left off?
  5. I used that stupid spray rubberizor and damn near ruined my bucket -- took about 6 hours of applying windex and scrubbing vigerously and there is still a slight tint to the armor... Probably going to end up turning this suit into a TD now, oh well.
  6. Thanks for your hard work Smitty!
  7. I lined them up and made peices to go over the seems, looks more detailed imo.
  8. I swear none of the parts lineup, I don't have a molding iron ... ARG!!!! lol
  9. it is abs, it's an AP suit. no camera atm =( sorry.
  10. True =/ kinda want to go td anyway, but still wanted a storm trooper suit lol.
  11. So I got rubberized spray paint on the outside of my helmet, i wiped it off -- but it's left the white area of the mask dirty looking... what are my options? I think i might just have to paint it...
  12. Grab it for $10 including shipping on ebay. The mic has to be in my mouth for it to work... I had a great idea though (to prevent my saliva from damaging the mic) the diameter of the mic is approximately the same size as the inside diameter of a twisty straw -- I cut one of those down and use it as the piece that goes in my mouth (feels sorta like a vocoder)
  13. Just got my boots and their nice, I wear a 8 1/2 and i got 9s -- fit great! Will definitely get my next pair for a TD suit from these guys.
  14. So my AP is going to be here starting next week, I need to know -- will I need to mold/iron any pieces at all with this kit?
  15. Mine too! I'm so giddy!
  16. This picture makes me giggle a little bit.

    For Sale/Trade

I was thinking an automated part of the site where you could register a service and provide pictures and details about the service and people can request in and out of your service and it can keep track of people requesting the service and people that have requested it in the past and have had their orders completed (perhaps ads a post to the trade/sell forum automatically so people can comment as well.)

    For Sale/Trade

I've thought about designing a system that allows people to easily track selling of items that they do runs of, need list of paid/unpaid, etc. Would automate the process a bit, would any one be interested in this kind of system and if so are the admins of this site interested in working with me to implement it? (I don't want people to have to do a whole new signup, etc.)
  20. I think "brands" are important for quality control, that is about it. Holding people accountable. People should take pride in the good "brands".
  21. I think one of the big problems with re-casters that people have is that most of them suck, They don't touch up their molds after they create them -- so they're overly rounded. and just do shucks work which causes more loss of detail and webbing. I think if some one wants to get into the recasting "business" to help provide quality suits at a lower price then it cost me to get mine more power to them. I have friends that would love to have armor and I would love to go trooping with them, but they can't afford to spend $800 on a bunch of pieces of plastic that cost no were near that to make. Also people that know how to do prop/costume design are a great boon to the community, they can provide replacement parts and what not so that you don't have to wait for AP or TE2 or any of those guys to have scraps when you need to replace your shoulder/bicep you just fell over and cracked.
  22. Ya something like bondo would probably work really well for that, just make sure to take your time when doing it, repairs can go horribly horribly wrong if you're in a hurry.
  23. lol ya but the HIP stands for High Impact -- all about the prefix!
