HELLO THERE!!!! Hoping you all had a lovely holiday. It’s a New Year. And the right time to post this! This is something that’s been discussed for a long time, past couple years actually. Interest was gathered. Names were thrown about with great research. Support was discussed. It’s been something I truly wished to see come to fruition here for our Detachment. I feel it’s important on many levels. We have many Detachments with women Sub Unit Teams. It’s about time FISD had one don’t you think?? Here’s what we have so far… JRS - Black Widows IOC -Firebirds Path Finders- Recon Fatale Krayt Clan- Scarabs MEPD - Desert Foxes Blizzard Force - Snow Angels Spec Ops- Sirens Clone Trooper- Bad Banshees IGC- Ravens ACD- Iron Maidens FISD- ? Bounty Hunters Guild-? Underworld- ? The Flagship Eclipse-? Sithlords -? Sovereign Protectors- ? I did a whack of research on numbers. Women Sub Teams in our Legion Detachments. Their names. Actual Percentages of women in the legion. What benefit such things offer our lady members on a whole. As FISD being the largest Detachment with a fairly low number of members identifying as female, I felt it was about time we had something that would in hopes, allow for more inclusion or be more welcoming. To support more women in builds and address issues that may stop them from coming to our forum or costumes in general. Please do not mistake my posting in any way against our men here. Our men are beautiful. Helpful. Insightful and knowledgeable. This is about EVERYONE having a safe place to discuss and build. Yes. There IS a place here for this exact thing. Some questions our lady members wish to ask , are personal. Very. And very much related to body parts our male counterparts do not have to consider nor deal with. Sometimes it’s daunting to cross that bridge and ask how do you squeeze a hormonal rear into armor not designed for a female curve. Discussions happened with this Detachments Command team, and we unanimously agreed this needed to happen. And was very much supported. The men here all supported me in this endeavor. An open/very accessible sub forum section will be created where any identifying woman can seek advice from other women. Women FISD staff. Other ladies in armor. Women addressing all things women because let’s face it- as lovely as our men are, I can see some cringing discussing binding breasts to fit a chest plate. Hormonal weight gain problems. And how that might look or be addressed. Or, how do you other ladies combat a menstrual cycle while in full armor. Let’s say you’ve encountered being sexualized. Or victimized. Had to remind another “cosplay does NOT equal consent” And you’d prefer a woman to seek advice from. Or… maybe you had a poor experience with a fellow woman member, and you wish to discuss it with another… Or. Let’s say you are 50. Had 3 children. Maybe don’t feel as pretty as another. You struggle with body image. You’ve seen a 30 year old hot blonde get 100 likes on posting herself in armor, yet you are 50/60. And overweight. And have been ostracized for wanting to be a trooper. Or ridiculed in your costume if you posted one. You struggled to build. Shim. Re fit. And were made fun of. Or. You gave up because all you could access for help here were male builders. So you left our forums. Downhearted. This sub unit forum/ team is not intended to be negative regarding our men. Nor a place for feminist platforms/agendas. This is always only about equality. Inclusion. Support. Help. Safety. Costume building for women. As is our entire Legion itself. This Detachment is extremely low in female to male ratio, and there is no real reason for that…. I questioned SO MANY WOMEN as to why. As the only Female member of Command Staff here, It’s always been my intent to change that percentage…Somehow. To encourage and welcome. Safely. Openly. Kindly. Equally. So. Let’s get back to the Unit itself. The most popular name choice was “Vaders Valkyries.” Now. That being said, names can be submitted. We can vote. We can look at many things. I’ll put this up here for an interest thread, and then proceed accordingly. See the comments. Listen for feedback. Please respond kindly and respectfully. I/we look forward to hearing from you all. Wait until your first troop, standing there having photos with younglings, high fives and seeing them smile, then you realise your cheeks hurt because you have been smiling so much, then it hits you, nobody can see you smile, your wearing a helmet4 points

Love the idea! The name sounds cool as well! I‘d love to support you in this! Oh the opportunities, just think about all the pretty merch we could have jokes aside (that wasn’t really a joke though, have you seen those beautiful „pin-up“ patches by the Scout Troopers), the issues with different body types really do come up and I‘d love to have a space where we can help each other out!2 points

Hello, everyone. Who I am and what brought me to the FISD: I have a ROTK kit I bought pre-pandemic from 850 Armor Works. My original intent was to hang out and support my FIRST Robotics Team at their events (I’m the Principal of a high school). The team is Red Storm 509 and their mascot is a stormtrooper. Once I had the kit, I started looking here on the FISD and found an entire galaxy of enthusiasts! Meanwhile, being in education during the pandemic was a whole new ballgame and the kit was reboxed and put away. Now that my life is back to normal, I’m going to start the build so I figured I’d better join the FISD.1 point

Doh, found the link above.... Ordered and on its way. A bit of Stormtrooper history. I wonder if George Lucus drew any of his inspiration of the dark side from history... At the end of World War One many German soldiers became members of the Freikorps ad hoc right-wing militia groups used to break up Communist meetings and prevent a Communist uprising. In 1920 the newly formed German Workers’ Party needed its own militia group to protect party members from hecklers and opponents. Some Freikorps members joined the party and took on this role. One such person was Ernst Röhm, a former Bavarian Army Captain. Originally called Ordnertruppe, they were re-formed as the Turn-und Sportabteilung (Sport and Gymnastic Division). On 4th November 1921 the Nazi party held a large meeting. Large numbers of demonstrators against Hitler and the Nazi Party were prevented from disrupting the meeting by the Turn-und Sportabteilung. Following this event they became known as Sturm Abteilung (Stormtroopers) abbreviated to SA. Hitler’s Stormtroopers wore a uniform of khaki brown shirts with swastika armband on left arm, khaki brown trousers with, brown belt, brown combat boots and khaki brown peaked cap with red trim. They were often called by the nickname Brownshirts because of the brown shirts they wore.1 point

OMG sewing sticky velcro is the absolute worst. It's well worth the money to buy a small roll of non-adhesive velcro just for the few times like this when you need it. Flashbacks of constant needle cleaning sewing sticky velcro into my daughter's jawa hood... uck.1 point

Oh no worries. I was only joking. It would stop the stretch but introduce lots of other problems as you indicated. Bart1 point

Looking good Bart. Glad to see you are in the home stretch now. ‘I also had an issue with my elastics popping out from under my shoulder bridges. My GML asked for it to be fixed before approval. To do so, I simply sewed Velcro to the elastic under the shoulder bridge that was getting pulled out and then glued some Velcro to the shoulder bridge underside to attach it to. Very simple to do and very good result.1 point

I love the Star Trek reference because I was a ST child during the original airing in the 60's! I'll try for higher levels for sure. Initially I was happy with basic, but hanging out here so much changes that. Next I'll start making memes every. other. minute... Bart1 point

You may notice the shoulder elastic is being pulled out under your shoulder strap so I doubt you could reduce the gap in between the shoulder bells and shoulder strap without using a thicker elastic or doubling over the elastic. It's not until level 3 that you may get picked up for it: OPTIONAL Level three certification (if applicable): There should be a minimal gap between the shoulder armor and the chest/back plates. A few other AP L3 apps for reference, appears they can come in a little more BUT that depends on the size of your shoulders of course Also don't forget you can make adjustments while taking your approval photos to get things just looking right1 point

Back to arm tweaking. My most favorite thing to do the last month! Sometimes the tops of the shoulders are nice and tight to the shoulder straps and sometimes they are dropped. My idea of a fix is to move the snap in the shoulder down about a half inch to shorten things a bit. Good idea or not? Second idea is to do the same as idea number one but then put a bit of glue on the elastic itself right at the top of the bell which then sort of acts as a double retention system (both a snap and some glue). Rotating then forward is still on the list of things to do. Also on the to do list (which seems to be getting shorter finally) is: - install the Trooperbay lenses - do a bit of sanding on a couple points that may be too poky in the fleshy parts - install the fans - rig up the icomm and amp system securely - switch up to harness for the thighs over a belt Moving along. Painted the hovi tips white. Criminal. I like me a fresh from the factory trooper but need to conform to the ranks so bit the bullet. Bart1 point

I recently modeled, printed, built, and finished my Rogue One E-11. Some time ago, I created a Rogue One accessory kit for my Sterling SMG model. I knew at the time that a true Rogue One E-11 was not built on a real Sterling , but an S&T Sterling L2A1 AEG (airsoft replica). I didn't have one at the time, so I created the kit to work with the model I had. It was good enough for basic approval, but not for higher levels. Not being one to leave well enough alone and move on with my life, I ordered the airsoft gun, an Evike Sterling 55 round (short) magazine, an actual Element Airsoft M300A Mini Scout Light, and an accurate replica of the required SDS power cylinders. I constructed my model using direct measurements from these items and built realistic functionality into the assembly. After much discussion with the experts here and fine tuning of the model, I give you a proper Rogue One E-11! Functional features include: Moving and resetting trigger Functional selector switch Functional folding stock Reciprocating false bolt Functional end cap latch Removable end cap Removable magazine Functional magazine catch/release Functional reset button on the Hengstler Hollow scope with clear lenses Removable barrel Provisions for mounting some electronic switches Accurate S&T Sterling L2A1 AEG replica Accurate 1943 M38 scope replica Accurate small eagle Hengstler replica Accurate SDS power cylinders replica Accurate Element Airsoft M300A Mini Scout Light replica Here are some pictures of the airsoft and flashlight I purchased. Here is the research and modeling thread. Here are some print/assembly progress photos. Here is the finished blaster. If you have a 3D printer or access to one and want this blaster, the files may be downloaded for free here. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4941514 The assembly and instruction manual can be found at the link above under the "Thing Files" tab, but you can view it directly here. https://cdn.thingiverse.com/assets/36/7d/42/3c/c5/STAS.PDF If you want this blaster but have no way to print it, I have a few available.1 point
