  2. A little more paint today, another coat of grey on the teeth, then some black on the ears On to the vocoder Paint those screws before I forget again Left for a few hours then on to the grey on the ears Once the grey has dried I'll be able to finish the black strip across the ear (TFU detail) Will leave to dry today then I will apply the decals, I would love to paint but my hands are still not that good, was hard enough doing the ears.

  5. https://imgur.com/a/tEzXb2i I was referring to that box thing. I could have taken another 1/8th inch or so off. Minor detail on my set I overlooked in my haste.

  7. Hi all My names Nick. I turned 50 on Thursday , I have always loved Star Wars. To my surprise my patrner booked a small holiday for us didn't realise my close family were coming. My partner is a sister in the NHS and has been working hard during this Covid breakout and organised everything. I was told to pack and grab my presents... I said why do I need to take that big box on holiday? I was told to do as I was told Anyway I will cut to the end........she only has gone and got me a the RS Prop Masters fully commissioned stormtrooper armour gob smacked. She told me she and others have been doing research for months and months. What can I say child hood dream. Can't wait to chat and hopefully meet up and be part of the FISD family. Thank you

  13. I've already made the test before making a start on my armour. After waiting 24 hours to dry on a scrap piece, I pulled hard trying to remove the snap to get a feel of the adhesion strength, so even with the tape covering the snap, it still held perfectly. And I cut the tape to leave enough room for the glue to bond onto the nylon surface., but I will keep you suggestion in mind for the rest of the snaps. I managed to get some time to paint the screws and split rivits, so they will be ready for when the time comes. Instead of ordering a neckseal, I decided to have a go at handmaking my own. I found a tutorial on making a neckseal from scratch and thought "Why not"? I gatherd the required materails and improvised for the others:- 1. An old black t-shirt 2. Zipper 3. Window insulation foam tubing (from local hardware store). 4. Neadle and thread 5. Measuring roll I don't own a sewing machine, so I had to doing this all by hand. But I am very pleased with the results (sorry no progress pictures, just after images). I had enough material left over to make another neckseal. Except this time I made it with the dip for under my chin giving me that little extra comfort. Next item on the agenda...Thermal detonator.

  14. Some have had success removing super glue by soaking in a warm salt bath, or placing in the freezer, depends how much glue and how long it has been since applied, may be worth trying one of those.

  15. Hey Dennis, sorry to hear of your father's passing. Regarding the closure and glue, regardless if it's super CA glue just use some mild sand paper (400 grit) on the areas where glue once existed. Wipe down and reapply the CA or apply E6000, the key is ensure you're giving the glue time to cure properly ( CA 30min, E6000 48+hrs). Frown mesh is similar to a heavy household version window screen material. Hope this helps

  16. Hi Jakob, definitely the Sniper knee is a headache , but not imposible to deal with. It's a "Clamps Squad Mission " lokk at the example photos I attached Additional, you can add a small piece of ABS plastic between the Sniper knee and the front cover strip to fill de gap. hope this can give some idea of what todo. cheers

  17. after inspecting the greebly parts, I discovered, they are covered in bubble pits. many of those areas would be difficult to rebuild... I then remembered I had discussed a more accurate greebly with Jon Watson a few months back. I asked him about them again and now I can print some! one down for testing and sizing.

  18. Next, I took on the hand plates, and was able to pull clean shapes out of the blobs of white plastic. (The one in back is how it came from KB, the front is starting to take shape) (pencil more marks added to help define areas to tune in more) Now, how to do the pill opening... I started with sanding the back side down (not pictured), and that made the center thin and easy to cut through. And then I used a small drill and rat tail file to finish the shape. now to make the second one match. Photo of me using the drill to clear the slots. and they are completed. [those are some of R2’s body door parts and a bit of leg details to the right, as I also continue to work on him as well]

  19. One complete set of arms. I found the thicker outer cover strips pull the forearms out a little. Probably still needs a little shaping but not as drastic as before. Thigh trimming begins tomorrow.
