  1. I made the visor removable using Chicago screws, like Alay and TKZombie did. I used this green grinding screen that I saw on another post. Sorry, I can't remember who originally posted it. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B003X3UAMY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I made EVA foam grommets to help keep the Chicago screws in place and reduce some strain.

  2. Even the outside didn't escape being tagged, lol.

  3. I wish! I am making progress so that's a good thing. I'll be making more progress tonight but I figured I'd post what I've done recently. I'm finally moving on to the lower limbs. The shins have already been trimmed ahead of time so it was a matter of sanding and gluing/added velcro. Here they are glued on the outside. I have them overlapping outside over inner. I also have white velrco on the inner part of the shins so I can put them on/take them off. Then came my worst nightmare. The THIGHS. I've had bad luck with my thighs, in fact the thighs are a major part of why my ANH Stunt armor wasn't approved. So its now or never. I set them out to work on sizing and have everything labeled. I then decided to take from the bottom of the thighs so that I wouldn't lose the width of the thigh. (I'm 5'4 so I needed to take quite a bit off). I took off a little more than 2 inches of plastic off the bottom of the thighs. I used a compass tool to keep/trace the edges so I could try to keep the same lines. I lined up the tops of the front of the thighs then tried to trace and create the swoop for the back of the thighs. Here are all the thigh pieces together. I'll be working on fitting and gluing soon. Finally the last major bit of trimming was finished and with it the last large scrap pile! I'm waiting on a new longer belt kit from Darren/JAFO to clear customs and I should be painting a large portion of this armor soon. I can see a light at the end of the tunnel. My plan is to try to get it finished before it starts to reach triple digits this summer and I won't be able to paint. Expect another update very soon!

  4. Hey John, I just wanted to check in with you to let you know that we're in the final stages of processing your Expert Infantry review. It won't be too much longer! Thank you for your patience!

  5. That is the one! I still have a few mods to do (like adding the "recharging station" for the extra power cylinders) but almost there. Due to the limited amount of space I had to make it smaller than I wanted and it's too long to hang vertically. At least I don't have to store them in the closet anymore, lol. Now I have my own little Fortress of solitude".

  6. So lots of clamps and lots of waiting for glue to cure, but getting there. The 'Cricket' magnetic shins proceeds... And finally, the shoulder bridges get glued down... To fix my belt drift, I decided to get some hardcore magnets and solve the problem this way: Cut a couple of small slits in the front of the canvas belt and slide a couple of magnets into the middle of the canvas belt... Hold them in place with a couple of magnets while I use a bit of superglue on the front side to hold the magnets in place and close up the slits in front. Then, while held in place, get a needle and strong thread and sew twice around them so there's no way that the magnets can twist or come loose. Then, I glued a couple of magnets onto the inside of the ab plate... The result - the belt 'snaps' into position cleanly overlapping the ab button plates slightly - so much so, I can suspend the ab plate in mid-air and everything stays where it should... Next to come - finishing off the shin magnetic closures, attaching the sniper knee and working up a solution for keeping the calves held down to the boots. Then, I'm guessing it's time to kit up and take some photos!

  8. I use doubled over elastic and that works for me.

  9. Thanks Tony. It's taking some time but I'm actually enjoying it so far. This kit is a novice builders dream. I think the magnet closures, strapping and harness will be my biggest challenges. That is until I start work on the outsourced parts. That's a different ball game but hoping this build will help prepare me for when I get to that point.

  10. Magnets... Don't need to worry about the closure, snap and go.

  11. What Tony said^^^ Get some of the strapping done and then post pictures. When you have your arms in the air, as a "taller bigger" trooper don't expect to do that or snaps will become undone (plus Vader does not approve of surrendering). What plans to hold up your thighs (belt, harness,etc...)? Get some of the foam to line the insides of the thighs and shins, that will help with the sniper knee and the rotation of the shins.

  12. Those tube stripes should ideally be a Proximal Phalanx (finger bone) distance away from the upper mandible.

  13. Well...changed my mind. The Skull feels more ”at home” with Sandtrooper armor. The Tatooine sun has taken it’s toll so to speak so weathered it

  14. Thanks for the superfast correction on that frown, John! You've got a great attitude about getting that fix done. Nice work, sir! We will get back to evaluating the rest of your armor and will be with you shortly.
