I bought a self-built kit from RS when I was still in high school (and excited and naive) and have basically kept it in storage for over 10 years. Didn't have the opportunity to build in college and then traveled for work for a few years before moving back home finally getting in a position with space to put it together. See the pic for her, in all her glory. I'm working through the supply and soft parts lists from this forum and am watching the RS YouTube videos for guidance. If there's anything else I should be using to move forward, please pass on! I'm below average in crafting skill/experience and bought the self-build kit to get those skills and feel more attached to my final armor. It will be slow but I appreciate any help in advance. Thanks to all who have put so much work into this forum and all the years of guidance! Looking forward to putting it together and joining this community. shashachu[TK] Posted June 11 Report Posted June 11 Welcome! The great thing about the ANH costume is that it's probably one of the most well documented costumes in the legion. There are a ton of great build threads (check the pinned ones in this sub-forum) so definitely spend a lot of time reading through them to get a sense of what's involved, the supplies you'll need, etc. The stormtrooper was a first costume for a lot of us (myself included) and you'll be surprised at how accessible a build it is. Since you're in Denver, you could also try to reach out to Mountain Garrison to see if they have any forums or build parties for prospective members. Take your time and good luck! 1 Quote

You will be amazed at the skills you develop making costumes. Here's my first update: - Right Bicep is rough cut and ready to be sanded down. - Right Forearm is rough cut within a cm of final circumferences (no trim out yet) but it looks weird. The top of the inner piece doesn't have a defined edge, unlike it's twin and the RS Propmasters youtube video. I do have some cutting left but the inner portion is also taller than the outer on both sides. Between the two issues I'm wondering if I have a misfabbed piece or if I just need to power through and trim until it fits. In the pic of the two forearm pieces next to each other, they are aligned on the bottom. You can see the one in question is still taller than the other even after being trimmed. Appreciate any insights! Hoping I didn't screw this up already. 1 Quote

Appreciate any insights! Hoping I didn't screw this up already. Pretty much trim to your arm, I've got skinny arms so I left quite a lot of plastic there, others take it all off. Get the front of pieces to join flush and trim to suit on the rear, you can also leave some pieces stepped, but I find it more comfortable not to have rough corners to catch on you when moving. No return edge at all Stepped bicep top, angled forearm and coverstrip No return on bicep, I left some so it stays central to my arm For L3 no return at all at the front of the forearm 1 Quote
