  1. I know this guy! Hey man hit up the resource page a few threads up as well. I got pretty much everything listed from that list. And as always feel free to ask and use me as much as possible. I'll go over backwards to help local if it means more FOTKs Geekypink did my gaskets and neckseal, if you want I can bring them to the troop tonight so you can see if you like them or not. Imperial boots for my gloves and boots Pouches a new guy listed for $50 on this forum from Hong Kong they looked fine, trooperbay does them also but doesn't list on the website. He was out of stock when I pm'd him and someone suggested the dude from Hong Kong so went with him Belt kit from JAFO he was awesome to work with, kit is in the mail so waiting on that A guy that makes death troopers in Russia is working on the laser axe with moveable parts I'm watching that close We are working on discussing the EP8 CRL right now a few other threads up or down pending on your point of view. I think the TD is a bit longer and a few other minor things. No one I know of has made those changes to armor yet, expect maybe Jim. Anything you need to see from my build fyi let me know
  2. FYI I got my upgrades!! Here are the better gloves and accurate First Order boots: Anovos gloves on left / Imperial Boots gloves on right: You can see the IB ones have removed the white knuckles and added the stitched padding in the palm. Imperial Boots FOTK boots on right / old, CA TK boots on right: Pretty obvious there hahaha! I also corrected the position of the biceps and took some new shots: Still waiting for the cloth gaskets, and plan on tweaking the ankle spat greeblies but at least I'm still moving forward with it
  3. Here I go.... I'm going to embark on this data collecting journey/history of all my troops. I've only submitted a few, but feel I must do this. Let you all know what we in The Badlands Garrison are doing! I'll work backwards to my first troops...until I get caught up. .... It's just so hard to keep up! Ugh. Here we go... "Hey!!!!" Dave says in a message to our tiny FB group of 3. "We should go in the Canada Day Parade!" Well, that sounded like a very cool idea.... Ya no.... Not cool. Smokin' sweltering hot idea! We decide to do this, and involve our families. We trooped this baby in full armor, for 7 kilometers, in 30* C weather! -Lyle and Lisa, ready the Vader mobile and trailer. The decorating crew makes it Galactic. Star wars candy in bags, helpers wearing "Support Our Troops" T shirts that Tina has created for the support staff. Parade insurances in place. Check. OK... let's do this! We decided we would walk as best as we could, to make the most impact. Interact the greatest. Engage the crowd, but leap on the trailer if we were dying. We made it 6.5 km before jumping on the trailer. But oh it was SO worth it!!!! The first ever Legion parade presence in this Northern Albertan area. The screams. The cheers. Our float rocked, and we very much pleased the citizens of Grande Prairie. We were noticed, and that was my evil plan all along!!!! Muahahaha... I have been trying to get my remote area involved, and have the Empire reach them. I currently drive 5-8 hours one way to troop with my Garrison mates, and It's exciting to see this happening here. Slowly. Troop by troop. The first few troops here, was just this lone Trooper.... A bad girl, trying to do good.... Then there were 2... then I found my third. Currently on my 4th and 5th... another is working on his officer. That's 6! This parade very publicly declared the Force was with them, and they could feel the power of the Dark Side! I'm so thankful to the little growing family here. For all coming together with me to see this area grow. OK... back to the parade! The cheering! Screaming! (The heat) The smiles! The love of the Empire! ( The heat) I noticed every single Star Wars tshirt or hat in the crowd, including a family wielding light sabers because they knew we were going to be participating in the parade. (Yes... I learnt this day that his children were truly named Luke and Leia!) I need to recruit this fellow enthusiast. Though, I sense his allegiance may lie with the Rebellion. No matter. Where would we be without the light.... I also learnt, that Captain Phasma should never High 5 or fist bump with any sort of Force..... As her shiny finger armor goes flying! (Thanks to the Dad that graciously picked it up and tenderly placed it back on for me.) Oh dear.... I must fix this. It was a great laugh though. I also learnt, that my cape not only weighs 15 lbs, but is exactly like carrying a black canvas tent on my back!!!!! A heat source of Imperial magnitude. Bahaha. Thank Vader most of Phasma's armor reflects the dang sun!!!! (And burns out the retinas of my enemies) more than once I was grateful my gaskets are not rubber! All in all, it was my honor to March in our areas parade, representing the 501st and my fellow Canadians. Celebrating our amazing Country's 150th birthday, and all it means to be a Canadian citizen, with my family, and like minded troopers by my side. My TK Twin Aaron, Kelly, Shanda, Lisa, Lyle, Tina, Grayson, Sooraya, Elizabeth, Emerik, Caden, and Greg, thank you all for being a part of this special memory, and moment. This experience would have be greatly diminished without you. Actually, it wouldn't have happened at all.... For you all, I am grateful. XO Soulart TK-41307 P.S It seems I am unable to load the incredible pics of this day. As soon as I get this figured, I'll get some up.

  5. Welcome to the FISD. As you can see by my avatar, I'm also located in NoVA and a member of Garrison Tyranus. I'm in Reston - where specifically are you located? I assumed you've signed up for an account on the GT forum and are simply waiting for it to be approved. I've got some bad news for you - unless you can somehow buy a complete costume (armor, helmet, boots, blaster, gaskets, neck seal, etc.) prebuilt and that actually fits you, it will be next to impossible to pull together a First Order stormtrooper by mid-June. Getting the complete ensemble for the price range you quoted puts it out of range entirely, and lack of a suitable work space also works against you. For example, in addition to being an OT TK I'm also a First Order TK. I have the Anovos prototype kit that was sold to select 501st members prior to the premiere of The Force Awakens. All told, I personally put over 150 man-hours into the initial build, not including trimming assistance, the stuff I contracted out (I had my kit professionally painted at an auto body shop), and periodic maintenance/upkeep tasks. While the new Anovos TFA kits are much less expensive and are supposed to be much simpler to assemble, they currently aren't supposed to ship until 3Q17 and we won't really know how much easier they are to assemble until that happens. You may be able to get a fan-made kit faster from one of the two non-Anovos vendors, but it will still take at least a few weeks for them to arrive - and that assumes they have stock on hand. In addition, TFA kits are made for a mesomorphic build. At your height, you'd need to lose about 80lbs in order for it to fit you properly. Unlike the Imperial stormtrooper kits (of which there are far more choices), the First Order kits are far less forgiving in terms of height/weight and body shape. I'll be at AwesomeCon in costume on Saturday and I'll most likely wear my First Order kit. I may go Friday in street clothes as well. Feel free to hit me up to chat - or you can message me either here or on the GT forum (I go by the same username).
  6. So, I betcha no one is wondering what I have been up to, but too bad, you are gonna get an update whether you like it or not. Greeblies are all attached: One more sanding of everything and a spa day for the parts: and then it was TFA TK Christmas Boots from Imperial Boots arrived: Gloves from Imperial Boots arrived AND my Mrs. Wyatt V3 Cloth Gaskets arrived. Note the Shoulder and elbow gasket is single piece. The knee piece needs to be sewn closed, so we marked and sewed them closed. We marked in about 1.5" from the top and 2" in from the bottom and was happy with the way it turned out.
  7. Any comparison on durability? I had read some of the earlier kits had issues w/ the armor edges chewing up the gaskets. I know even on the Anovos cloth neck seal for the ANH TK, the coating is beginning to flake from rubbing on the bucket lip. Ordered a set of Imperial Gasket cloth but no clue how it compares or if it's coated like the neck seal gasket.
  8. New Pauldron from Imperial gaskets, if you're looking for extras. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/35470-fotk-vinyl-pauldron/ Here's my setup
  9. That helmet looks beautiful. I can't wait to see it finished! JAFO's belts are second to none. I personally don't know of any FOTKs that use anything else. And you're right about Imperial Gaskets. I got on their wait list back in June, number 112. I contacted them for an update in early October, and I had moved up to 103. So yeah, it's a VERY long wait. I'm glad you managed to snag some, even with defects! Out of curiosity, how are you planning on chroming the armor? Yourself or by a professional? (And if you are a professional.... well, that works. I'm just curious)
  10. Hello All! This is my first ever build of any sort of costume. I'm not much a forum user, but I thought I should have a build thread like most people do. Passively I have just been reading what others have been doing and doing my best to incorporate their ā€œlessons learnedā€ and ā€œtechniquesā€ into my build. To start off, I want to thank all the people I pestered with questions getting to this point, and those that have built before me from whom I've learned a lot watching and reading your threads. I do not want to come off as copy catting somebodyā€™s build thread, so I will straight up say I got a lot of my ideas from Cookie Monsterā€™s , JAFOā€™s and Stemboatphanā€™s threads (no particular order or preference). Thank you guys for awesome details so newbies like me can figure things out. If youā€™re wondering what I used for glue/paint, itā€™s very likely I went with the same stuff they did. If anyone has specifics, please PM me and Iā€™ll be happy to tell you what I used. I actually got my kit a number of months ago, but since things cost money and Iā€™m on a budget I am just now getting around to putting things together. Something about being a full time employee and keeping up with an entire house on my own kinda kills your free timeā€¦ I am building one of Jim's Kit. I believe mine is a Version 4 of his armor kit. Here's a link: http://www.therpf.co...light=TFA armor Other Items purchased: Anovos Standard Line Helmet Trooperbay pouches (AKA MTK) Trooperbay belt Trooperbay "Jimmiraquois Decals" Imperial Boots and Gloves Extreme Racing Undersuit (stormtrooperundersuit.com) Extreme Racing Neckseal (stormtrooperundersuit.com) FN Armor Gaskets (before I learned the truth!) Custom Greeblies Things I eventually want to get: Blaster (not yet decided on where to buy or if Iā€™m going to 3D print it myself) Ukswrath's Wireless Audio system Ukswrath's Fan system I also compiled a wish list of things that I needed to get; supplies etcā€¦ If you stick to Jimā€™s materials list youā€™re going to be in good shape, but ultimately get what you prefer to work with. Iā€™m happy to share my amazon wishlist with anybody that wants it; just be sure to review it if you ask. So far, I have already done the following: An initial rough sanding of the armor (220 Grit inside, 400 outside) Fixed some cracks on the armor with Apoxie Sculpt. First prime coat with an automotive primer filler, and hand sanded with 400 grit paper. I have also repeated a second coat on almost all of the armor. I painted the Began making the belt. Made some snap plates. Rigged most of the amor to my body. The next few posts will be details of work Iā€™ve already done with pictures and whatnot.
  11. $1,250 + tax? For a newbie who is very much the opposite of handy. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated, as I have read many threads about staying away from Ebay. Thank you, Sean Pictures are of actual items that you will receive. The Imperial Stormtrooper: One of the most iconic characters in cinematic history, and was an instant classic in 1977 when they blasted onto the silver screen. Forty years later, it's still one of the most easily recognizable icons of the modern era of sci-fi. With Rogue One: A Star Wars Story coming out this December, this style of Stormtrooper costume will look impressive, most impressive for the premiere of this tie-in to A New Hope. 2017 will mark the 40th anniversary of A New Hope, which, as noted, this costume is detailed to be screen-accurate for. This costume will be perfect for any celebration of the 40th anniversary. Also, Halloween is extremely close. This costume is great for costume parties, trick-or-treating with the kids, and costume contests. Wherever you go, you are certain to draw attention as you "move along." This armor is great for conventions and costume parties year-round. Formal white armor never goes out of style and is also perfect for display in anyone's geek or man cave. Note: This kit was a 501st approved armor and has since been retired but still surpasses required standards for approval when worn properly. There is no need to get a kit that you're going to have to buy tools, clamps, then trim, glue, paint, detail, make harnesses, etc. This item comes already done and is 1:1 scale, but some adjustment may be necessary for the wearer. Shipping and Handling; Boxed and Ready To Ship!! (with fast shipping!!!!) Shipping cost is free but will be Priority and includes tracking with insurance. WILL NOT SHIP OUTSIDE OF THE CONTINENTAL (LOWER 48) UNITED STATES. Sorry for any inconvenience to international customers, but items like this are difficult to deal with both in customs and shipping. This Ebay Listing Contains: Helmet properly assembled and hand-painted details (no cheap decals) to match A New Hope (Episode IV) Stormtrooper, Screen-accurate helmet cast from a screen lineage helmet. Helmet is 1:1 scale screen-accurate to A New Hope stunt (standard stormtrooper) style: accurate hand-painted details proper rubber gaskets (neck s-trim) Hovi mic tips (screen accurate) custom interior finish helmet is made of white ABS 0.80 gauge cast from a screen lineage helmet proper green flat lenses Armor is white ABS 0.80 gauge. This is a high-quality polymer-based material that requires no paint and is basically worry-free. The movie armor was made from the same materials. The armor is ready-to-wear and has a snap harness instead of Velcro, because Velcro sometimes fails. 1:1 Scale Armor Included: chest plate back plate kidney plate ab plate butt plate left and right shoulder bells left and right biceps left and right forearms left and right thighs left and right shins/greaves left and right hand plates with screen accurate gloves thermal detonator with metal belt clips ammo belt with proper details, drop boxes with screen-accurate cloth belt hand-made, screen-accurate leather holster (screen-accurate mounted to belt) Stormtrooper E-11 Blaster: Accurately detailed to A New Hope style and battle-worn paint job for authenticity!!! (please see photos) Are you ready to be impressive, most impressive? Now is your chance to look like you stepped right out of the galaxy far, far away with this Stormtrooper armor!!!! Please note that you will need a black undersuit ("UnderArmor" style/compression workout wear does great), black neck seal, and white boots to complete your ensemble.
  12. Who here has the Imperial Gaskets FOTK belt? That's one of the last things I need to acquire. I'm just wondering how it stacks up against the Belts of the FO. BOTFO is slightly more expensive.
  13. Got my updated Pauldron from Imperial Gaskets. Love the new shape!
  14. I promise! Proud to rock your products! Love my Imperial Gaskets.
  15. HI Gang: So, like many before me I'm in the process of building my first TK. I chose the FOTK kit offered by Jimmiroquai, which as most of us know is made of flexible fiberglass. I'm not going to do a traditional build thread here; there are plenty of those here at FISD and all of which are helpful. Instead I'm planning to focus on some of the components of the build that I have found challenging, some cheats that I have used in working with this kit, and some upgrades that I am applying to the armor. I've got plenty of work behind me, plenty more ahead, and plenty of challenges ahead of me. The most important aspect of this build to keep in mind is this: You can do it! There is plenty of help available here at FISD and at your local Garrison level. Read, save photos for reference, and ask questions on threads. I haven't found anyone yet that is unwilling to offer guidance...Troopers helping Troopers! My armor components are as follows and are all in-hand: Armor - Jimmiroquai Gaskets - Jimmiroquai Soft Pouches - Jimmiroquai Helmet - Anovos Standard Undercut and Neck Gasket - StormtrooperUndersuit.com Boots and Gloves - Imperial Boots SE44C Officer's Pistol - MO3D Designs F11D Blaster - Hesston 3D Solutions Some of the topics I plan on hitting are: Tools Trimming the biceps and thighs Lens removal and upgrade, Anovos Standard Magnetic socket build for shin closures (Thanks TK-4205!) Hopefully much more with magnetics! As time permits I'll be adding the above topics to the thread. Tonight I'm working on uploading pics to Photobucket and learning how to edit...a learning process much like the build! That's enough hot air out of me tonight. Next time they'll be pics!
  16. Before I get in to the actual build I thought I should follow tradition and list the various elements of my kit and the sources involved. So here goes... Armour - Jimmiroquai (v4 armour) Helmet - Anovos Standard Gaskets - FNArmour Soft Pouches - MTK Belt - Belts of the First Order (well, that's me!) Undersuit - Stormtrooper Undersuit Neck Seal - Darman Boots and Gloves - Imperial Boots F-11D Blaster - The Sarlaac Pit SE-44C Officer's Pistol - The Sarlacc Pit In addition I've built my own Mic Amp system and modified the bucket with a USB fan system. I will soon be modding the bucket with an aluminum aerator and acrylic pulled lenses courtesy of VaderPainter Studios. Photos of all the above to follow.
  17. Fabric and rubber available here http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/31019-imperial-gaskets-more-upgrades/
  18. Wow, very informative. I received Jim's armor yesterday. I guess he forgot to tell me about the dropbox with instructions. Thanks for posting it. Now I know where to start. At the moment it looks like Jim's helmet is lost in shipping. Th body armor arrived and the tracking showed it but the tracking number of the helmet does not show up. I think it never got logged in and they took it there but we will see. I have a long way to go and I am on the waiting list for Imperial gaskets. Thanks for posting and recording your journey.
  19. I'm just starting my Imperial Gaskets, this video helps a lot, but after they are assembled, how is every one connecting them to the armor? Same as the ANOVOS (with the straps and velcro)?
  20. Throwing my hat into the ring with a build thread, hope to document my journey to Starkiller Base. Helmets: Mitcheg1, Anovos Standard Armor: Jimmiroquai (shipping) Gloves and Boots: IB Blaster: Heston (waiting) Belt: Trooperbay Undersuit and neckseal: carried over from my TD Gaskets: Imperial Cloth (waiting) Additional accessories Black Pauldron, Additional helmet for Bloody Finn. So far working on finishing my Mitcheg1 bucket minor work needed.
  21. Yep. You can get some heavy rubber ones from Imperial Gaskets (I think they are more movie accurate) but they are essentially the same as far as I know as a regular TK.
  22. Here it is guys! I have a few minor fit issues I'll rectify, some things that still slide around some, but I need to wear it once or twice first to see how things sit and if anything needs trimmed further. I'm also not going to crazy until I get the cloth gaskets (on the list already). My boots and gloves are in transit from Imperial Boots but for now I'm using my old TK ones and then Anovos gloves. I don't have weapons yet, but I have an F-11 and baton on the way. For now I'll just call for backup all the time hahaha Or point menacingly ... Just gotta wait for my GML to approve it, hope I didn't miss anything lmao
  23. Love this thread! Since I'm also using Imperial Gaskets, I really appreciate the details you're sharing! Out of curiosity, where did you place the seam for the knee covering? Inside or back of leg?
  24. It might be "lame". I'll see if I can verify. They have it at both my local JoAnn Fabrics and Hobby Lobby. It's thin and stretchy. I spray mounted it to the headliner material available from JoAnn's (mounted to the foamy side) that poeple use for the neck seals. Then a lot of sewing lines into it. A lot of sewing lol. There is a seller on the boards here selling cloth versions (and rubber), in case you don't want to make them yourself: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/31019-imperial-gaskets-more-upgrades/ Here's a pic of some of my progress: Here's mounting the headliner foam shape to the shiny cloth: I spray mounted it to keep the fabric from bunching up as I sewed the lines into it. (Cut out foam shape to pattern, tape fabric down to counter so it won't move, hit foamy side of arm shape with spray glue--light cote, drop onto fabric, flip it all over and smooth out the fabric). Also, mounting the shiny cloth to the foamy side means it moves easily through my sewing machine. My machine really does not like feeding the foam by itself.
  25. Went and did some sewing this afternoon since my day job got rained out! I bought the imperial gaskets cloth gasket set. The legs were pretty straight forward and I even put a slight taper on them. I used sew on Velcro hook side on the tops about 75% the way around and a block in the middle for the knee guard and a 4 inch strip in the front of the bottom for the shin. Front with knee guard Back Side view Over all! That was another 1.5 hours and I fixed the chest plate too for the top strapping!
