  1. Now that Mimic is planning to ship out our armor in two batches, I thought its time for me to post up my build thread. Mimic states that he's going to ship the kits in 2 batches, the first to dispatch is the back, butt, abs, chest, yoke and cod. The limbs and helmet will come later on. So far, this is where I am with my needed gear: Gaskets - Geeky Pink Gaskets -got them Gloves - Imperial Boots -got them Boots - Imperial Boots -got them Neck Seal - using my current ANH TK neck seal Belt - Jafo - got it Cloth Pouches - trooperbay - got them Undersuit - StormtrooperUndersuit.com -got it Blaster Rifle 3D printed kit of the F11D about 75% sanded Pistol3D printed SE44c hasn't been started aside from printing it - waiting in a box for me to sand it Helmet - Anovos TLJ Helmet Electronics - Ukswrath's amp/speakers, home made USB fan rig -I've got them, but haven't installed them yet Armor - Backstate Props (FOTK preorder) Harness - condor tactical vest Am I missing anything? After getting the undersuit and trying it on, I'm pumped to get this armor completed. The undersuit is already more comfortable than what I wear with my current TK. With 4 other people here in Vermont on this Mimic order, we're going to look amazing. **EDIT** after pulling the plug on Mimic's run, I've now ordered a TFA kit from KB Props. I opted for TFA vs TLJ primarily because I already have the helmet. There are now 3 of us in VT instead of 5 building together. KB told us 4-5 weeks. The hype has returned. **EDIT (again)** KB Props has declared that he's closing and has advised all unfullfilled orders to seek refunds from Paypal. **EDIT (good things come in threes)** My Vermont group is now on the BSP FOTK preorder. They claim to be pulling all the preorders in June but only time will tell. If this vendor doesn't come through, I'm switching my project time/energy to a wookie. **EDIT (last one for I hope)** I sold my Anovos TFA helmet and have switched my plan to TLJ after acquiring the Anovos TLJ
  2. I have been in the process of updating molds to a more screen accurate shoulder gasket. I am also creating a full polyurethane mother mold so I do not have to build mold boxes and bases any more. This will speed up my mold production time when they wear out or get broke. Molds are like working with fine china in a bull pen. FOTK belt kits are in stock and ready to ship with no wait time. Pauldrons are on hold until new gasket molds are complete and up and running. White pauldrons are on hold until I solve the problem that I'm having with the color. Cloth gaskets are still in production by Mrs. tk4205. She answers all of your emails, handles invoicing, printing, labeling shipping and book keeping. She also does all of the material scouting, sourcing and ordering too. I don't know how she finds the time to sew for us. She cares about us troopers, so It makes her sad when members rant and rave and drop F-bombs on her because they are tired of waiting. Our order list is "first come, first served" and I don't care who you are. Unless of course, you're the president;) If you are on our list and get an invoice, please don't ignore it; we have lots of people waiting and I wont take it personal if you no longer wish to buy. Just don't hold up the line. Imperial Gaskets (rubber) are the premium gaskets for accuracy, durability and comfort. You can reach Centurion level in only two brands of gaskets, but only one you can actually move in . Email ImperialGaskets@gmail.com to reserve your spot today. Cheers to all and thank you for your business.
  3. I don’t know why it made me create an account but this is my actual account the other needs to not be used and I wont use it again so write me here Hi everyone. Due to the nature of the NDA’s I of course was not allowed to take any pictures. But what I can tell you is this is pretty darn spot on what you guys have stayed here. I have extensive photos of my rogue one armor that I can’t post for a king time because it will affect my work. The rise of skywalker FOTK that I wore I only wore it once for a fitting because we were going to use them for Previz. But I never wore it again. They just gave us the helmets hahaha so I have a few photos of that. So here are my inputs. Helmet details are spot on. neck seal, there were two types. 11 rib and 8 rib neck seals. Zipper is worn front or back. There were two reasons why they were worn in the front, 1 because some pointed their heads down to see and therefore zipper was visible in rhe back. 2 the zipper was worn in the back and since they clothing tag it down to the under suit s lot of guys would take it off when undressing first break or lunch, and then put it on zipping it in the front. So either is acceptable. I cousins remember how they attached the chest to the back and yoke but sides were Velcro. shoulder bells bad the tab and it was metal but I don’t think they is necessary and I’ll explain it later. Tab can be any material. Since our kits are abs I highly recommend abs tabs. That’s what I’ve done Shoulder bells attached to bicep via a clip and forearms slid up. Picatinny rail moved box aside and you zipped up the forearms and box was velcroed down . gaskets were rubber silicon and for me I thought they were soft. They were trimmed in a fabric that protected them on the edges and an elastic back with a buckle in the front. Elbows and forearms were attached but we can separate them but they were attached via the elbow gasket Same with the legs. Thighs and shins were attached as well via gasket and spats were attached to shins but I didn’t see how. torso had a cross cross strap system that had a thin pad on it and torso zipper up the back. The thermal detonator and butt plate were attached by a webbing and came down the back and the belt pinned it down and buckled inside the pouch. the blasters I saw had many variations. Some didn’t have d rings. Some did and the rings were either black or white. I thought I saw one silver one but not sure. D ring plates were both silver and white. But there were quite a few black d rings. I think if we go white and white or silver and white ring or silver and black ring it’s good. Pistol I did not see gloves I could swear were the exact endor finders gloves and rhe hand plates had a deep groove in it. unfirtunately I didn’t have enough time to take other notes such as the boxes with black being cut out or not. It was my first day and just insane to be able to do this and I had planned on my second run to take more detailed notes and photos. However the pills on the chest I did see that they were cut out, but the box in the center of the chest, the black was painted in. And if I remember correctly the box on the wrist was painted or decal. Not one hundred percent sure. now on the overlaps, the thighs and biceps are overlaps. They are held in place by rubber bands. And they literally pry them open for you to get in. This can not be done in abs, our armor will crack. So this brings me to my next point. I hit the ground over 60 times in one day and nothing happened to my armor. It’s very thick polyurethane armor and very strong. So back to the shoulder bridge that’s why I don’t recommend metal. I contemplated leaving my biceps and thighs open and attaching a rubber material but I decided against it as the armor will crack when trooping and grow apart. The clips on the body armor were TFA clips rhat I saw while helmet clips are TLJ. Very weird. undersuit was a one piece and had shiny built in. But I heard there’s other sets with shiny shorts but couldn’t confirm it. Boots are exact imperial boots first order boots and they may get it from the same maker. I have my actual boots, neck seal, gloves and undersuit that I wore for the rogue one and clone trooper on kenobi. The gloves for the rogue one and clone are again exact gloves from Endor finders like the first order gloves and the boots for the first order snd rogue one and clones are the exact same boots. the thermal detonator is a separate piece screwed in to the back plate just like the clone and rogue one. The TD is hollow and it has a black pvc like tube that slides in. You can take it out but I don’t remember what kept it in. I’ve made my TD hollowed out and with the pvc tube and it is much lighter. Also on rhe other side of rhe tube I painted to match TFA: cod pieces are polyurethane so they flex but there are also rubber vids as well and shoulder bells and chest pieces for stunts. That’s why the cod is flexing in pics. holsters were actual functioning metal ones, the ones I saw. mall the armor parts are polyurethane and very thick and durable. the thighs are attached by two straps to the torso just like the rogue one armor except the rogue one armor had ribbing material to cover them. I didn’t notice that it n this armor. the torso had leather scallops and a front flat leather plate that held the belt and the cod piece. I noticed different shaped cod pieces by the way. and the notes on the cut pieces, yes w lot of times they are cut to fit the performer. We modified armor parts all day long and that’s why you see the different shapes and cute. Oh one more thing there were also foam thermal detonators and you could barely tell they were foam. They looked just like the regular ones. Same thing with the rogue one armor. They are for stunts. I didn’t see executioner axes or batans or prods . it’s pretty much the TLJ armor and if yuu want to enforce the different cut in forearms then you can. I have my rubber gaskets but they were only the actual rubber pieces and none of the finishing. It was quite nice what they had. I just got the rubber parts themselves. The TFA I know snapped in to place even on the torso. I couldn’t tell how because it was already assembled so I’m assuming Velcro. anyway those are my four notes. My armor is almost done. I’ve made some changes to it to function the way I prefer like using smaller shoulder to bicep buckles as well as the double buckles for the thighs attach to a belt and not the toro so. With abs I just think it’s too much torque on the armor and on a belt you get a lot more freedom. The torso attach puts too much tension and weight on abs but also shoulders. That’s it for now.

  5. Ok first of all imperial gaskets are absolutely amazing. Super mobility. Not complaint nag about them at all. <br><br> I just have a question as to the arms.<br><br> Anovos gaskets have about a 14 inch circumference. The biceps at the bottom have a hair over 14 inches inside circumference. The top of the forearms have a little over 14 inch circumference.<br><br> The imperial gaskets are 14 inches at the cuff but then sort of cone (like a sleeve on a shirt) larger to the shoulders, which you need, but at the bicep bottom it is 18 inches around. This results in needing to bunch up the gaskets at the bottom of the bicep, which is less than ideal.<br><br> All this is unmodified measures.<br><br> Now this was probably done to fit a range of arms. What I'm wondering is should I trim Down the gasket at the bicep so the gasket is more of a 14 inch circumference cylinder until it's at the top of the bicep where it needs to flare out?<br><br> Has anyone else done this?<br><br> Thes gaskets are so much better than the anovos economy ones that I could not move in. But the bunching up at the bicep is something I want t to fix, but before I cut I'm interested in what others have done.
  6. After reading/researching other build threads here, observing and talking to local garrison members I am starting one of these threads! My first official build step (other than acquiring the kit). I just purchased a kit from a fellow garrison member here in VT who lost interest in the build . The good thing is it is staying within our local squad and most of the trim work is done (only the belt, ab boxes and ankles left). All the soft goods came with the purchase as well . The kit is from Back Stage Props, that I believe, has since gone out of business. I have two other members @ShadyP here that bought this run a few years ago who I will be working with. The known issue with this early kit is the lack of a return edge on the chest yoke. I am in communication with a few vendors to see if I can get a replacement part instead of trying to build an edge. Here is what I have so far with a few pics: Boots: Imperial Boots Belt kit: Belts of The First Order Pouches x2: Trooper Bay Gaskets: Geeky Pink (he and I are are ironically close in size- 5'6" and slim) Tactical vest Gloves: Endor's (I think) Under suit: UK Extreme Racing Helmet: Anovos "BBB Day" for me was the day I got to pick everything up from my fellow squad member! Nice boxes of pre-trimmed armor I started to lay everything out and label L/R Belt Kit Blaster base and shoulder bell hanger Greeblies (I think everything is here?) Gaskets
  7. Been waiting to see feedback on these. Rare I wear my Imperial Gaskets rubber ones, they are restrictive and build up a lot of heat, no air transfer, I now only wear them for LFL or high profile troops, fabric is way more comfortable in my opinion. Looking forward to see how much movement you have once you have the kit all fitted.
  8. Sorry for any confusion, I meant the other way around. Keep the list simple, titles highlighted in colour and links supplied, so the list is quick to read/reference. The bulked out version is good but very large. My thoughts were around quick reference and a streamlined approach. Don't get me wrong, I love the images in he R1 list, I would just like to build a sub forum for that newer section and have an easy list to fall under that. This is part of the FOTK list look. As you can see we have COO (Country of Origin) some descriptors which indeed could be fleshed out a little more, what parts they supply under headings and links to there platform and/or email addresses. 10. Feel like forever since I made my introduction post, but I'm finally starting my very own build thread! Been waiting for my KB armor to arrive since October and it's finally on the way, hurray! As I've done an ANH TIE Pilot and Inferno Squad build so far, this'll be my first "full armor" build. My goal is to go for Centurion level, so... that'll be fun. Pretty much have all of the accessory bits ready to roll, now just need the armor. Luckily enough my squad is doing an armor party next weekend so I am hoping to make some good progress on it there. I'm planning to document the build in detail, but we'll see how well I remember to do that as I go Parts: Armor - KB Props Helmet - Anovos Gaskets - Imperial Gaskets, Geeky Pink's, Sheev's Emporium (redundant much?) 13. Gary, Glad to see you on the forum. I’m getting ready to hit the sack, so I’ll be quick. I spoke with Vincent at Imperial Boots a while back about their neck seal. They’ve started sending them out as a one size fits all item rather than offering several different sizes. The idea is that you’ll take it to a tailor to get adjusted. I was going to do a tutorial on resizing it, but I got rather busy. Regarding the undersuit, I can’t say enough good things about the full body suit from Imperial Boots; it’s phenomenal. However, like most ROTK undersuits, the ribbed knit fabric is hot. I also have a shirt and gaskets from the Darkside Closet which looks incredible, but again, you’re going to sweat a lot in it. Additionally, Mike has a rather long wait list, so if you want to get one, you should order it now. In my opinion, you can’t go wrong with a Jimmiroquai undersuit. The price is right, Jimi completes the work and ships quickly, and the fabric combination is a lot more suitable for hotter weather. Finally, regarding the helmet, I know I passed some info along while you were at the armor party, but if you have access to a 3d printer, I’d really encourage you to print the Nico Henderson bucket. Ultimately, the amount of work you have to do to his helmet (filling, sanding, painting) is about the same as the Black Series modification, plus it’s a lot more accurate. Anyways, I’ll be watching this build with great interest.
  14. So here is the final product and 501st approval. TK-78945 A very big thank you to John Child (Captain’s Drydock) and Tony (ukswraith). It was your video series on YouTube and build thread on here that got me to pick the FOTK and have the confidence to build it. Also a big thanks to everyone who responded along the way. Your advice got me to the finish line. 15. Ok.... now I truly am confused. And put off! Am I honestly being accused of being a recaster again? Yesterday saw Wyatt post publicly on my sales thread that I was “spoofing”. (Which I still don’t understand what he means) telling me I cannot use the words Imperial or gaskets in a sentence. Like EVER. As though you own these words? I’m struggling with this. Are you accusing and posting to Imperial Boots, (they sell gaskets) the First Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment (many make gaskets here), or anyone else that uses the world imperial as well? That If I’ve typed these words anywhere at anytime I’m trying to prevent you from selling somehow????? Or stealing your business? Ive read through my entire years of postings to see how many times I’ve said Imperial.... have you? I’m sure the FISD moderators have and found very few instances. And to top all of this ridiculousness off, I awake this morning and find myself in a Recasters discussion???? Honestly???? I’m going to now hold you detachment leaders and moderators accountable here as you DO have proof and correspondence of this instance from the past as many of you were around. Including our DL. I was very kind and patient 2 years ago when you (Rhonda and Wyatt) began your attack of me. Tried my best to even have a working relationship with you and support your business. Even advertise you on other sites. To be fair to everyone that created gaskets so that hopeful TKs could make their own choices as to where to buy. I help moderate the Phasma costume page, and you are listed there as well! Forgive me if I lose my patience now. These types of things bother me greatly and I have no tolerance for false accusations or people deliberately trying to hurt other people. I’m pretty straight forward. Honest. Kind. Compassionate and most certainly am not greasy or underhanded. I try and treat my customers with greatest respect, try to provide the best customer service I can, deem it an honour to sew for whomever asks that of me, share my patterns and materials freely to help others create their own goods, and I genuinely care about people, our members, their costumes and what we do on a whole when we are in them. I’ve costumed since I was 14 years old. (That’s 34 years now) the past few years now with this particular detachment in the building of my first armor in April of 2016. As kind as I may be, I’m also feisty and happy to defend myself here or anywhere. I began selling almost 2 years ago. At the encouragement of a dear friend that ran the Phasma page. To help the upcoming Phasmas and FNs. January 2017. As no one could get approved due to gasket wait times. Upon that time I was accused by Wyatt and Rhonda of recasting. And at which time Rhonda accused my brother of stealing her design. (Which is not true.) After much debate, discussions, reading of past correspondence between my brother and Rhonda, much back and forth between Rhonda Wyatt and I , a personal 3 way call between the 3 of us initiated by myself and investigation and involvement from THIS detachment, it was proven by all that I was NOT in any way in the wrong or recasting and had the ability to be a seller here in the FISD. Wyatt himself then even welcomed me on my sales page. This was resolved and everyone went on their merry way. Now, here we are almost 2 years later, and I’m defending myself again? WHY? Because I said Imperial citizens? Or Imperial goodness? Are not all of us in this detachment referred to as Imperials? Because he feels that I’m responsible in some way that his presence here is altered? Or their business affected? Or am now being questioned as a recaster once again???? I am sorry.... whatever has happened here regarding Wyatts position in the FISD has nothing to do with me. And I take offence at being accused by him again, or that they are somehow trying to use me as the scapegoat for his misdirected anger. Or affected business As though Im responsible. I am not. My gaskets looked nothing like theirs. They’ve since altered their design awhile back and look remarkably like mine! Should I have screamed recaster?? Possibly. They are made out of completely different materials. And unless they hold a patent on the human body, ANYONE that can sew or pattern is capable of creating a set of gaskets. A rectangle is a rectangle people. An arm is an arm. A chest is a chest. I have proof of private correspondence between Rhonda and I on my Facebook page that I will bring forth if I must. Seeing as that it was private, I shall respect Rhonda’s words unless I’m forced to share them. And this detachment HAS past conversations regarding this once resolved issue. The phone call the 3 of us had regrettably will have to be he said she said as there’s no proof to back up what anyone said here. But it was a good call that ended very well and positive to the best of my knowledge. It must have been, because I was proven not a recaster and invited, encouraged and allowed to sell here on the FISD. I’m not certain what else to say here. I guess I’ll wait and see what else will be said. But please know I’m feeling defensive, and I’m now angry and disappointed with many things regarding this. 18. Tutorial video: Imperial Gaskets now come with a bottle of black contact cement! It is my own formula , acid free and designed to work better on these gaskets than your average rubber cement. I.G. 88 Glue directions: brush on both surfaces to be joined together, let dry for about 5-10 then press together firmly. For those of you getting my Imperial Gaskets, they go together fairly simple. Pick up a bottle of Elmers non wrinkle rubber cement and follow these directions. Trim them out like this: Brush the entire back edge with glue and let dry for 10 minutes. The latex will ripple and misshape, this goes away and reclaims its shape as it dries. Once tacky to touch, fold the edge over and stick down, finishing up your edge. Only glue the flaps on one side Glue flaps on the other side and line them up. It should look like this. I suggest sewing the gaskets to your underarmor. If you are unable to sew, you can glue in felt tabs and use safety pins. Have fun. https://onedrive.live.com/?cid=8856a29d22617556&id=8856a29d22617556%2176111&ithint=video,mp4&authkey=!AGxnrTEk_xoA26M A little vid to demonstrate durability. Latex rubber can be tricky to trim. Start with a sharp pair of scissors, pull and stretch the piece that you are trimming towards you, likr in the picture below.
  19. GASKETS PART 1 Had a set of Imperial Gaskets back when they were still in operation. Now that they're not, I was really worried when tackling this in case I made an irreparable mistake. But all is well, and here is how I did it. First, measure the inner circumference of the following parts of your armour. Do not measure your arm, as if you have skinny arms like me, your gaskets will look shrunk under the armour. I wanted the gaskets to fill out the armour nicely. A. Inner circumference near top of Bicep Armour B. Length from your armpit to your mid forearm. C. Inner Circumference around middle of Forearm Armour Then I proceeded to cut my gasket according the the dimensions: Once, cut, I started to join the ends RIB BY RIB using CA glue. I wanted to create as seamless a joint as possible. CA glue cures fast, and actually holds the rubber really tight. The problem is that they cannot flex, and the whole joint would need to be reinforced from the inside with a shim using flexible glue. Here you can see the mid-progress of the CA gluing. Tedious, yes, but the end result looks great. And here are both arms done. I have not glued the shims on the inside yet. As my arm Armour pieces are still with the painters, I want to have them back for a fitting before I finalise the gaskets and shim them permanently. Also, I did not cut the gasket into "Shoulder" and "Elbow" pieces as many others have done, as I want to see how it all fits with the armour before I do that. Remember: MEASURE TWICE, CUT ONCE. Same with the knee gasket. Measure the inner circumferences of the bottom of the thigh armour and the top of the shin armour, and join the 2 ends together. I was pretty confident with the thigh, so I shimmed it. Here are both pieces done. And I also test fitted my arm gasket to see how it looks. Pretty happy with it. Strappings and final adjustments if any when my armour pieces are back from the painters.

In January we submitted our armors for basic approval and passed it. We then decided to update the few parts that we hadn't initially built to the Level 2 and Level 3 standards and are now appliying for the next levels of approvement. Since we built the armors together almost every mechanism, closure method and solution to strapping problems is the same - there are small individual differences but nothing major. We took our new approvement photos before a green screen in our living room with a set up to lights over a couple of days so lighting and background should be consistent in all three of our applications. Thank you very much for your time!
  24. Sorry for the long interval without updates! I'm still working on this, albeit slowly. It's been a busy month (something something excuses something) so most of my progress has come in the form of purchasing things. So first of all, gaskets! I got some factory seconds from Imperial Gaskets, which means I got to save a little money (woo!) but I'll have to do a little extra work before my gaskets are wearable. Said work is just filling in a bunch of tiny holes left by air bubbles in the latex, and once that's done I doubt anyone will be able to tell there were any imperfections in the first place. Service-wise, Imperial Gaskets had a few small issues on the communication front - they were at little slow to respond to my initial email (it took just over a week - slower than expected but nothing terrible), and I wasn't notified when my gaskets were shipped so I had a few days of wondering if my money had just dissapeared in to a void. I actually ended up contacting Wyatt through PM when I hadn't gotten a response to my email, which is how I found out about the factory seconds in the first place, and once I did get in contact he was very helpful. All in all it took just under 4 weeks from my initial email to get the gaskets, but keep in mind that this was for ready to ship factory seconds. The turnaround time is probably longer for non-defective gaskets (I've heard the cloth gaskets have a long waiting list - not sure about the latex ones). As far as packaging goes, I have no complaints, and the gaskets came with two bottles of liquid rubber to repair the defects, as well as a bottle of rubber glue to assemble the gaskets. The gaskets themselves seem to be well made defects aside, and are incredibly light! They're so much lighter than I expected them to be, which is a definite bonus. Next up, the belt kit. I ordered JAFO's Belts of the First Order kit. Service was great - both fast and professional. It took just over a week from first contact to receive the belt kit. The kit itself seems to be made with quality materials, and comes with the buckle and screws necessary for assembly, as well as printed instructions. And finally, la piece de resistance, the helmet! I already had the rest of Jim's kit that I had purchased second hand, so this was my first opportunity to deal with him directly. I found him to be professional, responsive and helpful and have no complaints. It took about 3 weeks from first contacting him to get my helmet, which was a faster turnaround time than I expected. When the package arrived the box was pretty beat up so I was a little worried, but I opened it to find the helmet snuggly wrapped in bubble wrap and completely undamaged. I was expecting the helmet to be the same flexible fiberglass as the rest of Jim's kit and thought that might be a little weird, but it turns out it's actually a rigid fiberglass, so nothing to worry about. The helmet also comes with bubble lenses. Overall, the helmet looks awesome and I can't wait to start working on it! @SkulShurtugalTCG thanks for the idea to plasti-dip the inside of the helmet by the way, that's pretty much what helped me finalize my decision to get Jim's helmet. I'm thinking I might give the entire armor that treatment on the inside. I'm not sure it will be entirely necessary but at the very least it should give a slightly cleaner, more finished feel to it.
