Advanced Tactics Awards Public Relations Staff List 2020 Follow FISD On the 6th of March, 2020 Moon Degeimbre (DZ-81965) passed away. Though Moon had only officially become a member the Belgian Garrison and Tornacum Squad in March of 2020, she had been active in the community for years. Helping others was Moon’s passion. Be it as costume designer, trooper support at events, or in bringing smiles to children at hospital events, Moon was happy. May her energy and joy continue to inspire her trooping family. She is survived by her companion, Emmanuel (TI-72806.) Our condolences go out to her family, friends. "Buckets Off" On the 5th of March, 2019 Eric M. Lavine (TK-5774) passed away. Eric was a kind, caring member of Garrison Carida. He earned the nickname “C-A” after accidentally assembling his Stormtrooper armor backwards using cyanoacrylate adhesive. Eric loved to entertain others while trooping using his Jar Jar hand puppet. Eric was also known to ride hide skateboard in full armor. With every event Eric sought to strengthen friendships with his fellow garrison mates and create new ones. Our condolences go out to his family, friends. "Buckets Off" On the 22nd of March, 2021 David Evans (SL-14310) passed away. Dave proudly wore the Dark Armor of Darth Vader when he trooped with the Diamond Garrison. Dave was also a pastor for Harmony Church and frequently traveled on missions in his service. He is survived by his children Anakin, Brittney and Zachariah. Our condolences go out to his family, friends. "Buckets Off" Greetings fellow members, and welcome to another exciting edition of the FISD Newsletter! 2021 is a huge year for the detachment, as we just hit another milestone with our 500th approval for Centurion, yep that's right, We have done it!!! and you can read all about it in the special section further down the page. It's also our 15th anniversary in a few months time. That is going to be a year long celebration in itself starting in July. There will be merch to celebrate both these occasions but first, keep an eye open for the C500 exclusive pin sales thread open now on the forums. As you may or may not be aware, we have a design contest currently running for our 15th anniversary coin so please also go check that out and submit your design for a chance to become part of our detachment history. Because we like to keep changing things up, there is always something new to see on the FISD forums. Much work is ongoing to revitalize and refresh as much as possible, and because we have so much to celebrate this year, that also means building and refining some of the older sections. For this one, the plan was to make it very easy for you to take a walk down memory lane and see the foundations of FISD, how the detachment has grown in size, developed and transformed over the years. With that I would like to officially announce the launch of the The Newsletter Archives! Seemed fitting to announce that in the newsletter lol. This is a new sub section of the forums found Here This sub forum of the Announcements section, is a compilation of our Newsletters from the very first edition in 2010. Now while searching, unfortunately some of the older newsletters were missing but we pieced together what we could from various old threads where newsletter discussions had taken place to recreate the ones we could. We believe it is much easier having them all together so you no longer need to search through pages of other posts to find any of them. They tell a great story and each one is a mini time capsule of the month to month life at The First imperial Stormtrooper detachment. We hope you take a look and enjoy some of our history. I hope you enjoy this special edition of our monthly newsletter and until next addition, stay safe and well and we look forward to celebrating with you all. With Unquestioned Loyalty Andrew Franke TK11469 "Sly11" Detachment Leader Greetings once again, Stormtroopers, and Stormtrooper enthusiasts! This is truly an exciting issue of the FISD Newsletter! I mean, just look at it - it even looks exciting, doesn't it? Speaking of looking at the Newsletter, Glen does tremendous work, and we are truly fortunate that somehow, he also managed to find his way to our happy little Stormtrooper corner of the internet. We all benefit greatly from his presence, in ways most of us never realize, so a tip of the bucket to Glen for his amazing work and dedication over the years. We probably don't thank him enough, so thank you Glen. You rock, brother! So, here we are at last, Centurion 500! Be sure to check out the approval thread, and share your congratulations before you head to the merch page, and share your hard earned Imperial Credits...I know that for many of us, the opportunity to troop is starting to happen as the weather begins to get nicer again. Be sure to think back to what you used to do for troops and prepare for any new ones in a smart and responsible fashion. Make sure that you hydrate, use the facilities before armoring up, all that good stuff. Some of us may find that our armor has shrunk... To paraphrase King Robert Baratheon in Game of Thrones, get the armor stretcher out before you head to the event, and make sure that everything still fits in a way that you can wear it comfortably. As I mentioned last month, I will be attending the ICCCon in Nashville, TN next weekend. If any of you are also attending, be sure to stop by the booth of the Peter Mayhew Foundation and say hello!Get out there and troop, and do so safely. We love hearing about and seeing photos of your Stormtroopery exploits and adventures! Chris themaninthesuitecase ---------------------------------------------- It has certainly been an exciting journey that I have had here at the FISD, and that journey has included my own Centurion application and approval experiences. I remember very well, my excitement, and that of other members who had encouraged me along the way. Well, this is a very exciting day for all of us, but especially for you! This is like a surprise birthday party at the office, as truly, the entire Detachment is joining to celebrate your achievement in having earned the title of Centurion at FISD. Thank you for taking this journey, and becoming part of a detachment milestone, to not only join one of the 500, but to become the 500th centurion. Stand by for your deployment order Trooper Andrew Sly11 DL ---------------------------------------------- Congratulations to number 500! An FISD milestone, and history-making moment you should be very proud of! A.C. NoVATie Taking a look back at the history of the Centurion program Like the march to 1000 EIB I went through the forum looking for information on how the Centurion program first came about. First time I believe it was mentioned was in the Paul's election Q & A back in February 2009 (thread can be found here) There was next a poll in March 2009 to decide whether to keep the name Elite or change to Centurion (thread can be found here) Lots of names came up in the discussion and in the end the poll was closed with Paul commenting a new poll would be posted. Next came a conversation in February 2011 with the program named Centurion (thread can be found here) And another mention end of February 2011 in staff area with goals in 2011 for creation of the program, also conversation about artwork and discussion of the name either Legion Centurion or just Centurion. March 2011 and Paul posted in the announcement area the creation of the Centurion program (thread can be found here) and also the Centurion program overview (thread can be found here) First Centurion standards are added to ANH CRL in April 2011 and announced in April's Newsletter (thread can be found here) Some of the early artwork, variants in color and font Unfortunately I can't find any record of the final design of the Centurion logo that we see today, It was added to the draft Centurion certificate design in May 2011 FIRST patch run of the red FISD detachment logo May 2012 (thread can be found here) It was thought that there had only ever been one run of the red version detachment patch BUT after doing some research for another newsletter piece I discovered there was also a run in 2014 and also 2015 which makes three runs total. 12" Version was produced in both blue and red 2016 (thread can be found here) If you are one of the lucky ones you may have purchased a 12" version which was produced in 2016 which also had an option of a larger centurion rocker, the 12" version and rocker where only produced once. Unlike EIB where you are issued with a star for each additional award received, for Centurion you only receive the one award any other additional Centurion awarded costumes have [APPRVOED] 2nd, 3rd, 4th and so on added to the title but nothing added to your forum profile. WE NEED YOU TO UPDATE YOUR BUILD THREADS As most would be aware we are diligently working through the forums updating watermarked images, missing images and broken links, this has taken over a year so far and has been a monumental task but there is still a lot of work ahead of us. Members build threads are one of the biggest areas of watermarked/missing images and we are asking you the membership to help and update your build threads yourselves as this is just too big a task for staff. For any build threads found after May 1st we will be archiving them, don't panic they are not gone just moved from main forum areas NOTE: access to the archived areas is restricted to staff only so to access any of these threads again for any future editing you will have to contact one of our admin staff. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. FISD 15th Anniversary Coin Design Contest OPEN Attention all members with serious design skills, here is your opportunity to step up to the plate and exercise your talent. This is FISD's 15th anniversary year come July, and your design could be the one chosen to commemorate this fantastic occasion. The winning entry will be made into the detachments celebratory coin marking the milestone in true FISD fashion. The coin design is first and foremost BUT we are also considering running a patch if the design translates well or is a good accompaniment the coin. So how do you enter? Glad you asked! Aren't you a little alien to be a Stormtrooper There’s no truth to the rumors that Kathleen Kennedy is being replaced as the head of Lucasfilm, Disney CEO Bob Chapek assured shareholders on an investor’s call recently. Chapek was asked rather bluntly if Kennedy was being replaced by Dave Filoni or Jon Favreau – both of whom have been building out the Disney+ Star Wars realm with shows like The Mandalorian and the upcoming The Book of Boba Fett. Taken aback, Chapek responded: “We’ve been absolutely thrilled that we can have the kind of talent like Kathy Kennedy to direct Lucasfilm… We look forward to having Kathleen Kennedy running the Lucasfilm organization for many years to come.” Rumors have been swirling about Kennedy being replaced for years, but it has largely just been some wishful thinking on the part of disgruntled fans. George Lucas chose Kennedy as his successor when he sold Lucasfilm to Disney, and she oversaw the expansion of the Star Wars universe with new Skywalker Saga films, spinoffs, and TV shows. Things got off to a pretty great start with Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and the first spinoff Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was a huge box office success, but the Force Awakens sequel Star Wars: The Last Jedi rubbed some fans the wrong way (despite the fact that it’s a brilliant film). The divided fan reaction to The Last Jedi was exacerbated by the accelerated release of Solo: A Star Wars Story, which became the lowest-grossing Star Wars movie to date by a wide margin, and which suffered its own production problems when directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller were replaced during film by Ron Howard. The rumors of Kennedy’s seat being in jeopardy even extended to Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, and we asked Feige directly earlier this year if he was involved in upcoming Star Wars movies beyond the one he’s production, and he flatly said no. Chapek’s affirmation of Kennedy’s position should hopefully put those rumors to rest, and all in all Kennedy has been successful at relaunching one of the biggest franchises in the world while also steering its expansion into the live-action TV realm. Currently (as of 5th April ) there are 31,045 approved costumes in the legion, out of these there are 5,661 under the TK ID which is 18.28% of all approved 501st costumes. Interestingly if you look back through previous totals Stormtroopers equated to over 20% which shows a decline in our ranks. E-11 Prop Details I ran across this video quite by accident and was amazed, I must have looked at these images 1,000's of times but yet missed these. Check out the video below. You can find some in depth discussion and more images here Currently these detailed pieces are being looked at as an optional extra not a higher level requirement, there are a few different variations of the detailed pieces and also the blasters can be seen by different actors at different times, Han can be seen in the same scene using 2 different blasters so there is no real consistency. Our very own deployment officer Joseph @justjoseph63 has spent some time working on these detailed pieces and is now offering them to the membership, he is kindly selling them at cost plus shipping, you can find his thread here. Thank you Joseph, truly a perfect example of FISD's mantra "troopers helping troopers" INFORMATION & AWARD PROGRAMS For a full list of FISD awards head here Are you new to the FISD and wondering what the heck all those abbreviations and strange sounding terms mean? To help you @justjoseph63 has started a list of the most commonly used ones that will give you some insight. If you have ANY questions about a particular term that is not listed or suggestions for new ones please contact Joseph. You can find the list here Pre Approval Forum allows future Troopers the opportunity to submit photos of their completed build to be reviewed by the Staff, Imperial Attaches and others in preparation for forwarding it to their GML for approval. Any and all advice/suggestions given will be specific, constructive, helpful and respectful. Please note that this program will NOT take the place of your local GML, as Detachments are not chartered for costume approval and can not override a GMLs decision, but is instead a peer review program designed to help you look your best and offer guidance and positive feedback. For more information on this program, please visit the link here Don't forget to visit our 3D section when next surfing the FISD forums, there is plenty of useful information to potentially help you on your next TK adventure. You can find more information here So what exactly are and levels? These programs were designed for those who choose to take their armor above and beyond the minimum requirements for basic 501st Legion approval. You may also know me as Geeky Pink/Pink Lady/Snow Queen/Captain Sassy or just Teresa.I’ve been a Legion member for 5 years , this month in fact, joining with ANH-Stunt, followed by TFA Captain Phasma, and one of a handful of Lady Centurion Troopers. I proudly serve the FISD as our Instagram PR, belong to The Badlands Garrison in Canada, where I’m one of the PR Officers/GEC and Squad Leader for Crimson Aurora Squad. Also happily as one of the moderators on the Captain Phasma Costuming page on Facebook.I LOVE costuming, am an OCD lover of details, and have several costumes approved in the Legion. (It’s an addiction) I’d really like one costume in each of the 16 Detachments, and I’m working on that! I have a Pink BB unit, and hope to also complete costumes in a couple more Sibling groups to also be apart of every bit of magic we can offer to the world. And I LOVE the color pink. 9. Haven't done much on my build yesterday or today. I guess I realized that I cannot rely too much on referencing my RS armor. Some armor pieces (like the forearms) are shaped very differently which I realized I was going to have to do some extreme shaping of the left forearm to make it look like the RS. But that is not the point. WTF is supposed to be different, it is a fan sculpted version. I spent time trying to reshape my left forearm and kind of distorted the shape. I am leaving the left forearm alone for now and tomorrow, I am going to just do the normal cuts on the right forearm and see how it naturally comes together. Before I try and put the right forearm together I am going to browse over a few more WTF threads. So I learned a small lesson and it might have cost me ruining a left forearm. But I have a job and I can get it replaced if it is not recoverable. Anyways, I really do appreciate the few of you who are checking up on this build. This build will take a minute and it makes me feel a bit more confident as I get some inputs. the last update for today, right before I received the kit my neck seal arrived in the mail from Geeky Pink's Phantastic Gaskets. Here is a picture of the fit. I was not sure where to go for various parts of my soft goods and stumbled across Geeky Pinks, it was also nice that she made the based on your neck measurements! I think it fits very well. One part of my soft goods down!

  11. Got the official word This was a crazy intense build with a roller coaster of successes and failures. In the end, I've emerged far more confident working materials, met some great people, and learned a great deal of experience. What a crazy build. Holy smokes. I've got a TRamp sound system in the works with Gwendoline Christie spoken lines for a variety of video game content. Hoping to work that into the chest with a handler on the buttons. Can't wait to give that a test run. I'm honored to have joined the FISD and have been assigned a TK designation. In the final set of photos I sent, I had just received my gaskets and neck seal from Geeky Pink. Teresa was great, as I had also used her template for the initial cape build. What a boon to the community. The rubber gaskets from T&A looked great but restricted too much movement for comfort, so I had them swapped out which improved fitting and mobility, which is what I has struggling with. Thank you for following along on this build log!
  12. Hello all, I'm looking to find some soft parts for my build. I've already got gaskets from Geeky-pink. I am still looking for: - Undersuit - gloves - belt pouch - Boots I'm looking for vendors willing to ship to the middle east. Any Ideas? Regards Jolly
  13. I got to work on some fitting changes. For one, was the way I wear the boot armor. I had a problem with the outer shin armor sliding around and knocking on the heel. After simply moving the heel under the outer shin, it actually allows me to bend my knees without putting stress on anything. https://i.imgur.com/h6HvkvL.mp4 I made a rookie error and didn't get a harness for the costume until just last night. My thighs were attached to the rubber belt that held the boxes, cod and posterior. I was hoping the snug fit of the armor, plus rubber gasket, plus a strap attached to the belt would do the trick. Nope. Gravity is still doing its thing. So I made a quick harness based on my own thought process, but I have opened an inquiry to Geeky Pink on Facebook for a set of gaskets, harness, and bike shorts. In the mean time, I've modified my set up for a better fit: To resolve the abdomen/belt gap, I've added a 2inch strip of nylon around the abdomen and put velcro strips on the belt to help hold the position. The thigh harness seems to do the trick. It's just nylon belting and clips. The straps go down the back of the thigh and clip in the rear. The straps can be cinched to pull the legs up. Test fits seemed to work after adjustments. I don't think we'll see the straps with the cape on, but there's plenty of room to move things around.

Troop # 6 Date: March 8, 2020 Location: Phoenix, AZ Event: Arizona Helping Hands Foster Family Fun Day This was a fun troop where we interacted with the kids and families at the foster family carnival. I attempted to play some games with the kids including giant Connect 4, but its hard to play when I can't see anything or bend over to pick up my pieces! I also had the opportunity to take some fun photos during a bit of down time! Photo credit: My Geeky Gallery
