TK-7580 Requesting ANH Centurion Status[12][TM*]
ObiHahn replied to ObiHahn's topic in Request Centurion Status
It's a beauty, ain't it? It is from a small first run of 5 guns, and the next run of 6 more has just started. There are also a couple prototypes, but no more than 7 guns worldwide right now. The maker is not sure if there will be additional runs after the recent 2nd one, I talked with him last weekend. Making those is tedious and expensive. Here's his website anyways, it is in German but has loads of pics: http://joerg-wegmann.de/ba/ They come without T-track and Hengstlers and I also modded the scope rail on mine, FYI. -

And, just for the fun of it, here's a bonus pic of me with my DLT-19 (on the left) together with ANH Vader and another awesome ANH TK on the right (again R2Dan): -

The one on the right is definitely more accurate.

I for one liked the old, lighter skin a lot better. We ARE stormtroopers, after all...

My armour. Will it pass this time?
ObiHahn replied to TrooperVenger's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Looks like you're missing black stripe(s) on the ear detail, you only have the gray area with the black outline. Also, the gray on the ears looks lighter than the traps and tears - should be the same shade of gray instead. -
Never! Just good old facts discussion with a fair amount of proof pics. Exactly what I like.
-
Looks like that.

Funny that even in that exact archive pic of yours, rivets are clearly visible on the belt (well, not on those specific drop box elastics, but still...). No rivets at all for ANH armor, huh? I also wonder how those rivets found their way into all those ANH helmets! But yeah, touchĆĀ©, Karin. Here's a pic of something looking very much like a rivet holding the elastic to the drop box (at least not only glue on this):
-
Just to be Mr. Smartypants: the originals had the elastic strips riveted, not glued. I guess you guys are right...what might be right for some sure isn't to everyones taste. Next thing I'm looking forward to: the all-latex armor!
-
Some of you guys have the weirdest ideas/problems. How distractring is that clanking on your suits, really? I never had such problems to speak of. Maybe rather fill the boxes if the hollowness is what bothers you? They should always be made from the exact material like the armor itself, IMHO. Keep latex/rubber to handplates. Drop boxes or shoulder bridges should remain plastic.
-
First things first: lose the silly pauldron. Or do a proper sandtrooper. Plain clean white TKs with pauldrons are still not my thing, personally. Never got why people go for that... On a more constructive note: shorten the drop box straps, with no visible material between plastic belt front and boxes. An find a way so your bicep parts stay in place and don't turn like they do in those pics. Nice, clean build otherwise!
-
That part does seem absolutely plausable to me, yeah. I'm still not too sure if what we see on the initial pic up there is really white though. I say flash just washed out the khaki, look at the khaki spots where the paint flaked off on the helmet bottom, that too looks way lighter than any khaki HDPE we see in other photos.

New, ANH armor n helmet found.
ObiHahn replied to sixxgunn13's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
It's the Si-Man or RS armor, and they are indeed working on casting and then offering it. The makers/owners actually do not want the pics to be published in any other forum than the ones they are active themselves. This is very exciting and will surely be the new jewel of screen lineage armor. No more reworked ROTJ/tour armor or the likes, they are going for warts&all original ANH. So yay! -
Might just be the flash washing out the khaki hue of the HDPE, if you ask me. Photos are never to be trusted when it comes to color anyways... Especially with that khaki color, lighting makes one heckuva difference. Khaki plastic with white overspray (there wasn't only red primer overspray on the helmets' insides) will also seem lighter. I also don't think that is a "patch" where glue from the foam star has ripped paint away but rather the spot where the helmet was resting on a stand for painting, like this: But that's just a theory, of course.

HOWTO: Create adjustable torso strapping
ObiHahn replied to firebladejedi's topic in Tutorials, Tips and HOWTOs
Wow, Mark - the system is so adjustable that now you're even wearing the abdomen on top of the chest!! JK, looks like a nice alternative to SA strapping. -
Lid looks like SDS recast indeed, that's why I thought it was "off". Not the biggest deal with the shin parts, it doesn't really detract from the overall look that much. Since you're not going for uber-accuracy, I think you have everything else covered. Good looking stormtrooper!
-
Remember, this is not about whether he has his sniper plate on the right leg (he obviously has), but if he mixed up the left an right shin pieces. Those are not symmetrical, contrary to popular belief. It looks to me as well like he did mix them up. The curves look kinda off. Also, I can't help but notice that the helmet looks off. Do you have a close up pic, TrooperVerger? Otherwise, you're off to a good start. You'll work out all minor fitting problems in no time.

deathtrooper helmet build
ObiHahn replied to dashrazor's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Why did you opt to make all the normal TK details (tears, traps, tube stripes) so sloppy and inaccurate? Artistic license? Would look better if this was bases on a "cleaner" base TK lid, that's what I'm trying to say. Otherwise pretty cool. But let's never approve these halloween gag thingies for trooping, we have enough silly variants already. -
AngryJason's First TK Build [*AM]
ObiHahn replied to angryjason's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
A lot of AM parts are absolutely huge. Are you going to use the helmet that came with the kit or already thinking about replacing it? -
Incinerator Trooper Plasma Canon / Flamethrower
ObiHahn replied to Quartermaster's topic in Flamethrower (Plasma Rifle)
Is this based on any in-universe reference or is it a pure fantasy weapon?
