  1. Give us some kind of pics so we can better help you out. What type of helmet is it and that will tell what type of plastic it is. Depending on that , there are chemicals that might help remove that without doing damage or you could always paint the bucket. Sorry to hear it man, I know the feeling.
  2. Finally decided to jump on this since I have read so many good reviews. They are fast, I emailed him this morning (Saturday) and had a reply in less than 30 mins. I replied with my shipping address and again, had a quoted price almost immediately. I payed with Paypal and just checked my email again and I already have a tracking number with UPS. Looking forward to having these for my TD, I ordered 12's this time though. With my Caboots in 11 (my normal size) I added the Dr. Sholls gel insoles but they made the boots WAY too tight. My toes were actually numb after a 8 hour troop a back in August. I figure I can use the extra space and add the gel soles again this time.
  3. Here is a close up of my CAP. I guess you could say I went for the squared look, right to the edges. ---------- Hope that's helpful.
  4. Try to find the E6000 like they said above, most good craft stores will carry it like Michael's (if they are up in Canada), if not you can find it easily on Ebay. It's easy going stuff and bonds well while leaving a little flex. Some other glues can damage the plastic, leave no time to play with or are just a pain lol. Good luck.
  5. Nice job man, looks great. I vote to leave it that way, people spend a lot of time to paint their resin casts up the way yours looks naturally!!!
  6. It's the end of October for us Florida folks and we too are very much looking forward to this!!
  7. Haha I too wish I had being "too skinny" as a problem lol. Yeah the thighs look more rounded as apposed to the usual shape they are but wait until you have it all together and then see. Can you apply for EIB with a TD?? .... or are you meaning deployment with the MEPD?
  8. Might have to take the plunge on this too, I need another pair for my TD I am working on and for that price, you can't beat it.
  9. I used the Tandy clips and trimmed them a bit, they work great.
  10. Haha wow, I guess I should stop polishing mine, I polish it up after EVERY troop lol!!!
  11. I'll have to watch this as well, I did something similar on my thighs. It was my first build and I used ABS glue (which I won't do again) and made some mistakes.
  12. Hmm that is a tough one. My concern with masking off the front is that no matter what, there will be a line from the two different coatings. I guess you can try it and see how it comes out, it might be subtle enough that nobody but you will notice. I guess if not, you can just always do it again. Good luck on it.
  13. I totally agree with you, I used nothing but snaps and elastic for my trooper, works great. I have a lot of good mobility because the armor has some give and just goes back into place when you are done moving. I also glued my tabs up the same way but I used abs glue (that my TD is NOT going to be seeing) and it worked great but you have to be so careful. I made mistakes on both my thighs that are visible (and drive me nuts) but I chock it up to learning. Those thighs will be transferred to my TD build and scuffed/weathered anyway, so they will not be seen. I have ordered some E6000 for the next one and will use your tape idea instead of the clamps this time maybe.
  14. When did you see Star Wars in the theater for the first time and where? My first SW movie I saw in the theater was Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. I was 10 years old and was living in Misawa, Japan (my dad was in the US Navy and we were stationed there at the time) What is your favorite Star Wars movie? Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, my absolute favorite of the saga. Love the story, the characters and the duel between father and son in Bespin, just like the whole film. What is your least favorite Star Wars movie? I will have to say Episode II: The Attack of the Clones, from the title of the movie (always thought just a simple "The Clone Wars" would have been better) to most of the film, definitely my least favorite. What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally? Music, good movies, building-racing-destroying (lol) cars, paintball, and spending time with good friends. What turns you off? Closed minded people that like to open their mouths and the Dallas Cowboys ( I am a HUGE Washington Redskins fan!!!). What is your favorite curse word? Sh** What Star Wars Character do you love? Well the white suits of course, Boba Fett ( just love the persona) and of course Han Solo (just a great character). What Star Wars Character do you hate? Hate is pretty strong but I will probably say Jar Jar, he was annoying as hell lol. How did you first find out about your home garrison? From the 501st Legion website. I had run into a guy at a paintball game and he directed me there. I then wandered the site and found my local garrison and squad. They helped me get going. What Costume other than your own would you like to attempt? Boba Fett one day maybe, would love to do a C3PO but I would NEVER fit in that lol. What Costume would you not like to do? Biker scout, my squad has so many with more on the way lol. (just kidding guys............or am I) What would you like to hear George Lucas say when you arrive at the LucasFilm Gates? Would you like a job here???
  15. That is a clever idea, might have to try that. I used hotglue on my FX when I installed some of Smitty's lenses and it worked out great, but I know that will be too hot for the AP I am working on now so I may look into this. Otherwise I was thinking E6000 or maybe some clear silicone so they could be easily removed if need be.
  16. Wow, your skills with woodworking never cease to amaze me man, that looks amazing.
  17. Looking good man, you are almost done. I wish I could fit in to more accurate armor, I am definitely jealous.
  18. I would agree with that. It is true that in the movie they used Sterlings but you will be using (most likely) resin, wood or plastic to make your E-11 prop. If you tell them that this will be a non (NEVER) functioning prop used for your costume, that will hopefully make a difference. The problem will still be that it is going to look like a weapon, especially to those not familiar with guns. As was mentioned I would go talk to your local law enforcement body and see what they have to say about the matter. I had the same thought Smitty did when reading this, as I sit in a room with four Star Wars replica weapon props and a house that holds over 25 real firearms, thank god I don't have this headache lol. Actually you would be surprised. In some states this is common practice but not in others. In the state of Florida, where I live, you are not required to have any type of license to own a fire arm (pistol or rifle, non-military) as long as you pass the background check and don't have a felony. In this state if you wish to carry a concealed weapon with you (legally), then you must take a course on safety and use and file for a permit. This is not hard to obtain as long as you have a clean background. I don't know all states but in my state (Florida again) you can own a military weapon but you must have the proper permit. This permit is VERY expensive and you basically give up some rights as far as the government is concerned but again, if you have a clean background and the money, you can purchase the permit. This is true, in the toy stores the guns have the orange tips and are often painted other crazy colors like blue or white. As far as replicas though, they can look exactly like the real thing. We have trooped on the streets and in front of the police with our replicas with no trouble at all. I was at a troop on Tuesday night where the fire department had to arrive (the comic store we trooped had a fire and blew out the fuse panel lol) along with the police. I had an officer come up to me jokingly, asking if I had a permit for my E-11 but we just laughed and he walked off. We just try to use common sense when it comes to being out in public but with the armor, nobody ever takes the weapon seriously. Common sense is the key, whenever I take a BFG to anything, I have it wrapped up in a towel or covered when in the parking lot or entering buildings, since the two I have look very real. Once inside and dressed, then I will carry it.
  19. I was just gonna bug you for another set of lenses, for my AP this time lol. Hope you get it all straightened out bro, I know how crazy life can get thats for sure. Good luck.
  20. Haha this is me right here. I still use my FX for my TK (next on my list to replace) but I recently picked up a used AP for my TD build. I wear a 7 5/8 hat size and my head fits inside okay, just have to turn it sideways to get it down over my melon.
  21. Haha it's so true, i was telling some of the guys in my squad that this forum has ruined Stormtroopers in the original trilogy for me. All I do now is pick apart all the flaws lol.
  22. Armor is looking great bro, can't wait to see it all finished and I love the TE20, that is too funny
