  1. I believe you are referring to the Dewback rider's handplates, they had the bumpy handplates if memory serves.
  2. Thats very similar to how mine is set up and I have had no issues as of yet. I have used heavy duty marine canvas snaps, they are very strong. The only thing I did differently was I decided to install abs sheets into my canvas belt to make it stronger and then attach it to my ab piece, i was too worried it would slide down during troops.

  4. Nice armor, looks very sharp, great job you did there.
  5. Looking good man and congratulations!!
  6. Congrats on the degree (it felt like many years to get my BA but looking back, it went sooo fast) and on the very nice bucket, I would love to have something like that in my house.
  7. Heavy duty marine snaps (used for attaching canvas on boats) have worked very well for me. The center shank on them is deeper than most snaps and they are very strong, I picked up a box of them at a West Marine store near me, I did the same as everybody else with the two snaps and elastic strap, works great.
  8. That's not a bad idea, maybe i'll work on that next lol.
  9. I was showing a friend one of your pics, since that desert shoot was a great back drop, comparing an FX bucket to AP. I loved this pic and I photoshopped it a bit to show him and figured I would post it back up here, I hope you don't mind. into this; again, great pics. I wish I had something like that near here for some pics when I get my TD finished, guess i'll have to settle for beach sand instead lol.
  10. Great pics and what a great location, I can't believe after all these years there is still debris from that out there. ........ and the Snowtrooper is definitely lost lol.
  11. I would agree with this, I have seen many rivets pull through different plastics, like ABS, etc.. with no backing washer. A fellow trooper in my garrison had a rivet pull through on his FX knee plate and that is a pretty good fit but it had no back washer. I understand you are saying they are way off but a little heat and a deep enough rivet with a back washer should make a difference.
  12. Lookin' good man, I'd take the lid over the beach myself, but I live 5 mins from the beach here in South Florida, so that's not really an issue lol.
  13. Hahaha agreed. Speaking as another new guy, just take a look around the site, there is SO MUCH information here and everybody is really helpful. I have learned so much in such a short time and it has really helped me along, my TK is almost finished.
  14. That is what I am leaning toward as well. I want to glue the top of the forearms, front of the shins and thighs, since these are most visible to others. I have seen it done velcro on both sides and I like the glued look better, much tighter where the plastic is together.
  15. Good stuff to know in here. While I want my suit to look pretty accurate, my biggest concern is trooping, I don't want to break stuff but I do want it to look nice. I will glue one side of the shins, thighs and forearms and velcro the backs for now as the other problem I have is I am still losing weight. I am currently down to 225 and am looking to get back to 200lbs. so if I velcro I can still have some adjustment and if I choose to glue the backs of the thighs later, I can just remove the velcro. Thanks for everyone's input.
  16. Ahh thanks, I used the abs glue for the snap system and the bucket and it seems to be a nice bond but I was unsure of it's flexibility. Looks like I will pick up some E6000.
  17. I want to ask those who troop a lot in their armor a question as my garrison did over 50 troops last year, so they are pretty active. (This is regarding FX armor) Two other TK's I have seen have their thighs, shins and forearms velcro'd on both sides. I like the look of those parts glued in the front as it makes them look nicer but I am worried about stress on the parts. Will the glue hold up to parts being opened up over and over??? I am probably being dumb but better to ask now and be sure before I start applying the glue.
  18. That is cool to see. I am waiting on a canvas belt and have been trying to decide if I should attach the belt (with the abs part) to the actual armor or keep it loose like yours. I kinda like the way you did it and may do the same for mine.
  19. I was just gonna post that as I have to twist on my FX too lol. Twisting on my friend's AP was a bit more daunting and I did get on but it took a bit of time, looks like I am gonna try to grab a TE2.
  20. WOW, what an incredible job you did, from that unbelievable blaster to the beautifully assembled armor. Great job man!
  21. The main problem is the direction the mag faces, as Supertrooper mentioned above. With the holster on the left, the mag faces away from your leg, if you mount the holster on the right and don't reverse the blaster (with the grip facing forward), the mag will sit into your leg. I am going for ANH with my TK and even though I am right handed, my weapon will be holstered into the left when I am not carrying it (since I am also going to carry the DLT-19). I don't see it being any sort of problem
  22. Yeah same problem here. I am building my first set of armor (FX) and have ordered some different parts here and there but am finishing the bucket now. I want a more accurate bucket but on a troop today, I tried a friend's AP on my big melon and it was very tight to say the least. I had to move it back and forth a few times lol but I was able to get it on. I am trying to decide between an AP or TE2, as long as I can get it on and off, I can deal with it lol.
  23. Yeah good point, I could always toss in some of those comfort insoles or something to make up the space.
