  1. Well HIPS is a material (high impact polystyrene) not a vendor, but T/MC is a vendor. AP is the usual recommendation for smaller troopers because the parts are smaller than what you'd find in FX, AM, or RT-Mod. If you look around *carefully* many of the armor vendors are members on the forum. If all else fails, just send one of the staff members a PM and they will point you in the right direction. It's a little bit of a game trying to decipher all the information I know, but necessary to keep the sellers protected, and to make sure people that join up on FISD are really interested in trooping with the legion, not just blowing in from anywhere and finding contact info for these important people that make the armor. PM sent..
  2. Interesting results, not a lot of votes on some of those :-/
  3. That one looks like it will work just fine and the front zipper should come in handy...
  4. Mine looks black to me, even after repeated washings. I'd imagine what you saw would be fine, but it's up to you. I'm sure it will look black against the white armor anyway
  5. If you don't have black showing through then you shouldn't need to add side plates. The shims are only needed if you've got black showing, and furthermore, I think that's only an EIB requirement.
  6. Is your thigh small enough to butt those edges together and glue on a cover strip?
  7. The new AM calves are longer than the other suits I think, RT-MOD might be as well. I would definitely NOT try to heat and stretch the shins, I think that's more trouble than it's worth and there is a lot of room for error.
  8. I'm pretty sure FBJ is not making belts anymore. I'm sure Wyatt will come through, Graham. It is really easy to make your own belt if you need one urgently, but I am sure that as one of the trusted members of FISD, Wyatt won't leave you hangin'
  9. Do you have a picture of where the straps show? Maybe we can figure out another way to run them.
  10. The two piece is fine, but I think you'll find a strapping system for the armor works better than velcroing the pieces directly to your suit. If you decide to velcro things to the suit, be sure that the soft velcro is what faces in towards your suit, the hook velcro can tear the undersuit.
  11. Keep in mind if you go with Under Armour, you may need to cover the logos on the shirt and pants.
  12. AP or the TE-derived suits work well for smaller people. ATA can work too. Take a look around the forums, there are plenty of build threads of all the types and when you have an idea of which you want, we can give some more guidance. Welcome aboard
  13. I forgot about the virus possibly disabling your internet... If you can't get to any sites, try going in IE and opening the internet options, going to the connections tab and then LAN, and disable the proxy settings there. I had to do that before with another virus before I could access a site that have a tool to remove it.
  14. I would download and install Malwarebytes anti-malware. It's free and it's removed anything I've ever had on my computer. Some sites will also provide a downloadable file that can wipe the virus, it depends on what it is. If Malwarebytes doesn't work, come back and we'll try something else. Install it, run a full scan, and see what it pulls up. http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
  15. Would some velcro on the inner edges of the outer drop box and outer edges of the inner be secure enough? Might be hard to open it though to access what you put inside unless you make a pull tab or something.
  16. It's FX. When bought new the FX kits can fit bigger people, but I think it would be hard to re-do the suit especially with pieces that have already been glued, cut, and sanded to fit someone else. For the asking price you can get a more movie-accurate suit and build it to fit you
  17. Armor maker: FX Height: 6' Weight: 175-180 Chest: 42" Abs: xx did you use shims? About 1" between chest and back plate because I didn't want to heat the plastic (suit) to make it fit tighter Waist: 32" Thighs: 25" did you use shims? No shims. Shins: 16" no shims, used a cover strip in the back to butt the edges of the shin pieces together since I couldn't overlap them. Biceps: 14" did you use shims? No shims. Forearm: 11.5" at biggest did you use shims? No shims but I could use about 0.5" at the overlap Any other mod? I have some strategically placed pieces of foam inside the shin and thigh pieces to keep them from twisting.
  18. Pretty misleading to have the SDS photos with it.
  19. Looking forward to see it built Brian . I didn't know the kit came with the ESB and cheesegrater hand plates, pretty cool.
  20. "Separate chin part!" The guy doesn't even know what parts of his product are called
  21. Looks good man. The movie ears were pretty rough so you don't need to worry about it. Good work
  22. I wear mine over my UA shirt so the logo doesn't show . If you sew enough "bib" onto the neckseal, it will stay down under your chest armor and not bunch up out the back. My helmet sits pretty low on me though so you don't see much of the neck seal anyway.
