  1. And as the instructions in the FX kit says "TAKE YOUR TIME!" Can't stress that enough. A rushed TK will look just that... rushed and shoddy.
  2. I'd say hit Radio Shack and see what you can drum up. If you're not in need of it right now, I say wait until you find what you want. I've done several troops voiceless. I just tap the side of my head and shrug when people talk to me. Some catch the reference, others just thing I'm deaf.
  3. You better! LOL, just kidding. Ed, thanks for getting this and getting it taken care of. M'Lord is doing as great job on it! Look out cleanies, we'll be a detachment before we know it!
  4. I have a resin clone bucket that I'm still working with and before I gutted all the excess resin, it was solid as a rock. Now that I have it to a wearable point, it feels way fragile. In my case, mine is going to be used more as a display piece simply because with the helmet being so small (compared to my humongous FX bucket), I'd get super claustophic in it and freak out. Damn this huge head of mine!
  5. From what I've been told, the TrikToys amp that claims to have the static burst doesn't actually have it. I don't have evidence to back up that claim, but many of my squad mates have told me the same. If you're point right now is to be heard, head to your local radio shack and see what they have. I've also heard good things about this amp: -------
  6. Got mine a couple days ago. I haven't put them in either, but they should be just fine with hot glue. Once I pad the underside of my chest place to prevent scratching of the buttons, I'll be slapping them on.
  7. I would be very cautious when buying from TrikToys. Not to down the company, but their $40 or $50 Vader voice amp is the $6 Wal-Mart toy I spoke of earlier, so buyer beware.
  8. Hyperdyne Labs makes the board needed to produce the static burst: ------------ Personally, I'm not huge of the static burst effect. It really adds very little to the overall presentation to the TK, IMHO. Many others swear by it. You'll still need a speaker/amp and a microphone. Until I get around to putting some time into it, I'm using a $6 children's toy found at Wal-Mart. It amplifies your voice well enough for smaller events, but is pretty useless in a large convention type event.
  9. I didn't get a chance to watch it. It was being played at like 10pm Sunday and I was out of there by 2pm. It was cool of them to show up to the mixer and give us Heart of an Empire pins & shotglasses (complete with shot).
  10. I'll be leaving at the butt crack of dawn (possibly before) for Atlanta. Hope to see you guys and gals there!
  11. You're kidding about the oven, right? You can get a heat gun rather inexpensively at department stores.
  12. I've decided against it. I can sit on stools with no problem and in chairs with minimal discomfort to the family jewels.
  13. I was thinking abs for the housing. I have no ideas yet on how to make the hook.
  14. No biggie! Hmm, looks like I'd have to fabricate the whole thing, including the hook. That seems to be the hard part...
  15. Wish I could help, but I'm rocking size 36 waist myself.
  16. I posted the same question over here: -------- No replies to it yet. I lost the bookmark I had for a page that had a tutorial on it.
  17. So would it be "Imperial Stormtrooper Corps" or "1st Imperial Stormtrooper Corps?" I think both sound good.
  18. Well, as I'm the one who found the reference for the Imperial Stormtrooper Corps, I'm definately in favor of the change.
  19. I totally agree. But back on topic, it looks like it's all up to personal preference. Hell, you could paint it pink if you wanted, no one's really gonna see it.
  20. Eh, it was a shot in the dark . I only thought of that due to many people expressing that many of the lenses used (ex. bubble lenses that come with an FX kit) don't hide the eyes well when pictures are taken.
  21. To my knowledge, it doesn't really serve any function. If you have a small head, it could serve as a less reflective surface of when people snap photos of you, possibly minimizing the chance of people seeing your eyes. Of course, when you're adding things like fans, mics, or other mods, they tend to be black as well, so they seem to blend in better. I think in the end, it's boils down to "it looks cool," especially when you show a fan who wants to see the inside of your bucket. Just my $0.02, I could be wrong. That being said, I wish I had done it when I put mine together.
  22. It's a little late for it now, but how about Imperial Stormtrooper Corps? It's got a backstory and all: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Imperial_Stormtrooper_Corps
  23. Not necessary at all. I mean, it looks way too bare without it. I've recently been wanting to either find or fabricate a grapling hook for my kit, just to be different. My only concern is some kid would grab it and try to run off with it or something. If anyone knows of a good tutorial on how to make one or a place where i can purchase one, please post it or PM me.

    Dragoncon

Any of you guys going to Dragoncon? I'll be working the fan table on Saturday from 2-4 along with my squad leader, Vampyregodz (a/k/a Joe Price). If you're gonna be there, stop by and say hi!
  25. Thanks for the update, Kahler!
