I'm afraid I quite agree with this . It does seem a little fool hardy. I can guarantee they not only know who are currently producing kits but are also viewing the likes of this and the 501st garrison level boards to see who is "starting up". As long as the makers keep a low profile and stay behind the scenes they tend to turn a blind eye. Having their names posted in a public area where allcomers can find them seems like a really bad idea to me. I'm surprised the matter has not been raised before considering the way names have been bandied around in threads. I would also note that 1 of the most popular "brands" favoured by this group is conspicuous by its abscence.

Having worked in the plastics industry for a few years I can confirm this as the cause. We had one batch of plastic fascias sent out from the company I used to work for that went from bright white to yellow in 9 DAYS due to the wrong amount of UV mix being added during production!! The exact blend of a plastic can vary from batch to batch, hence why some can last for an age with very litle discoloration and some can yellow very quickly indeed.

Having read the reason for your nomination all I can say is Congratulations! Very well deserved indeed.

During the recent Spinnaker tower troop ( ------------- ) I had the "pleasure" of trooping near this set of armour. Any ideas as to what it could be? The helmet looks like it may be a Marco but the armour appears to be ROTJ with that ab plate. http://images25.fotosik.pl/286/543f4f6b77b1b9c8.jpg I am of course refering to the set in the background, not my mate taking the p1$$ in the foreground.

Much as it pains me to say it, Humbrols quality has been going down hill for the last few years ( ever since they were forced to change their ingredients ). I have tins from 5 years ago which are still fine, but tins that I have bought within the last year that are solid already. Like most paints they have their rules to get the best results. I've found its best to shake the tin for a good 2mins followed by 2 mins stirring. This way you tend to get a consistant and correct colour.

Ditto. The only thing I would suggest changing with the rom set up is the mic. The one that came with mine packed up after only a half dozen troops so I did what most of the UKG have done and swap it out for one of the flat mic "skype "type pc mics such as this: ------- ----- as you can see, its a mod thats not going to break the bank. If you stick with the standard 9v set up be prepared to go through a LOT of batteries. Personally I have found that once they have less than about 80% charge they will need replacing ( still good to run your helmet fans for hours though ) so I will eventually be going the 12v route. Having said that, I have seen most other voice amps available in use ( even owned one of the " halloween 3 voice " voice changers) and I have to say the Rom beats all comers hands down! That includes the Tricktoys. My sandie mate had one of those and it lasted 3 troops before the board broke. He now has a Rom. lol

I'm Ok mate . Lets hope they allow us to go up to the obs level. Now that will make a great photo op.

Here is mine. Its recently had the fan in the right tube removed and the RomFX put in its place. The velcro around the mouth holds my mike in place, but I'm still not happy with the front area.

Worried about falling off Spinnaker tower eh dude? Don't worry mate, not only will you develop a better sense of spacial awarenes you will have extra sets of eyes looking out for you to ensure you do not trip or walk into kids/walls. Thats why the UKG insist on spotters . You wil be fine. As long as you remember to bring the cheddar.
