  1. Hard to quote so many great comments here, so I will simply say "ditto". Can't think of a place where I have learned so much, felt so welcome, and be able to interact with people who care about their art and their work. All this is a testament to the Leader. Paul, thanks for all your help to me personally. Ed, now you have to deal with me, so sorry man. At least I can say we have met in person!!
  2. Yea, as well as your right hand plate. Need to make sure we get it all right, if you are to receive deployment status!!!
  3. Possible, but do what I do and SHAVE YOUR MELON!! --------- No clogged fans in this mans bucket, I assure you!
  4. I modeled my belt after Steven (Ruf Terrain) and have had 100% success with it. Works great, can be adjusted on the belt and the connectors, and is very well hidden. This would be my suggestion.
  5. Should I take points off for having the hand plates on the wrong hands?? Or for them missing completely? Looks good so far.
  6. The location has more to do with Deployment Status really meaning being screen accurate. All the TK's in ANH had a split, and it was only visible below the belt, thus the requirement for it to be there. I am working to add to the Deployment Standards for all 4 options (ANH has 2), so these types of "open to interpretation" issues are no more. Keep at it, you are almost there.
  7. You got it. Here is a shot from the right ride: And one of the left: My belt is also held on using snaps, and what I used was three pieces of 2" industrial Velcro (hook) spread evenly around the kidney plate. It holds very well, and then I just attached the other side (loop) to the inside of my belt. The nice thing is that it helps a ton with the issue of the gun and holster. Before I did this, I actually added a hook under my ab plate to keep my belt from falling of the snap under the weight of the holster/gun. Now with the Velcro, not an issue at all. Not once did it come off during C IV, and there was one boy at the laser tag area that pulled and tugged and did everything he could to pull it off. Please let your wife know she can always call mine and vent. I think I know exactly how you fell. Look forward to seeing this done, and adding our 4th Deployed trooper. I think Paul and Ed are both close as well.
  8. Nice lamp, I need one of those. As for the separation, I spoke with some of the other staff, and we all feel it needs to be below the belt, as it was in the films. Let me know, via PM or post if you would like some suggestions on this. If your belt is a permanent fixture on your ab plate, it might be harder to do. A few pieces of industrial velco will help hold it up and in place. Also, I have an extra back/kidney plate that I purchased, in order to lower my separation. I then decided to go with a ANH kidney/back plate which already come in two pieces, and that will be my next mod; so I do not need the FX one. You could do a cut below, not on the line, and it would work out real nice. If you want the FX plate, LMK and I will send it to you for the same amount I paid for it. As you may know, I had a few of these bumps when I did my deployment status, and I am working with Paul and others to get more specific verbiage on the deployment standards. Things like this should not come up, and we will be working to make sure they do not in the future. The armor looks great, and you are almost there.
  9. Hey!!!, I have an FX suit!!! (I think everyone knows that). Jay, looks great. I have one favor(request), and one suggestion: Request: Can we get a picture of your helmet that shows the lens color? Possibly an outdoor shot with the light coming thru? I assume you are going stunt, since you have 4 teeth and the lenses are flat, I just need to verify they are green. Suggestion: Your kidney/butt plate separation is there, but is shows above the belt, not below as in the movie. I know the standards do not state that (yet), but if you look at the reference pic on the deployment page, you will see what I mean (check out how high the belt rides on the back). I would suggest seeing if you can make an adjustment so the gap shows below, not above the belt (I used Velcro on the inside of my canvas belt, and on the outside of my kidney plate to do this with my first piece). Other than that, looks like you are all set.
  10. Here are my 2 cents from C IV. Lots of fun and a great time is had by fans and volunteers alike. Not near as many 501st volunteers as expected, and volunteer schedules were somewhat of a mess, but overall GenCon is making things right. Crew badges were TK's (only way to go), and GenCon gave us our 4-day Vader badges back when we were done. Hasbro asked the 501st to help them annouce the ComicCon figure, so I met up with a few others and we escorted R2-KT from the droid room to the Hasbro panel. Dargas was on the way and we picked him up, and met about a dozen more 501st at the room. We were lined up, and 18 of us (lots of 501st, all mixed costumes) escorted R2-KT into the room. I got to march lead with Dean P, and the cameras were blazing. R2-KT will be the exclusive ComicCon figure in San Diego this fall, in case you did not pick up on that already. Hasbro was great to all the 501st who were there, and gave us all an exclusive C IV Luke for doing it, and promised to send us an R2-KT figure this fall. Legion photo shoot was chaos. Seemed like no one knew what was going on, so the photo should be interesting. However........ Our TK photo is awesome!!!! We marched over from the photo shoot to the laser tag hall, and we had 50-60 TK's all marching in line. What a sight to see. Ed and I carried the FISD flag, and everyone was snapping photos of us as we walked by. The actual photo looked great on the camera, and we should have something to upload shortly. I spent about 20+ hours in armor from Thursday to Sunday (could have done much more). Taking tomorrow off to visit Disneyland with the family. I am out for now, but I had to jump in for a few and see what was going on in the forums. Later,
  11. Please add me to the list of "very interested"
  12. You could also try E6000. You can get it at most hobby or craft stores. Also, try drilling 2-3 holes in the back of the clip, where it attaches to the TD. When you glue it, make sure some comes up thru the hole and expands beyond the opening. This will help keep the clips in place better than just direct contact. You could also try the same with the back of the TD, drill a couple of small holes for the glue to fill into. Good luck!!
  13. OK, just wanted to add a little to the buckets off discussion. Here is a link to the walk I did on Friday: ------------
  14. I expect to see your submission for deployment status very soon. Looks awesome!! Please remember to include a chest up pic for the deployment page, as well as at least one pic w/o your bucket. Lookin' sweet!!!!
  15. How about just drilling out the rivets and using new ones to attach the clips? Here is a link to the conversion kit I purchased on ebay: E-11 conversion kit One option you could try is triktoys.com. I know he is a little high, but he has a set of aluminum tusks that look almost identical to the hovi-mix (without the ribs). They are slightly larger, and will support small speakers. Also, I got a set of speakers from SuperTrooper that will work in the hovi-mix tusks. I gto a set, then decided not to add them into my stunt. If you want them, shoot me a PM and we can chat. Here is the thread he listed them on: Areator Speakers
  16. I actually used small screws to hold them in place. I drilled out a hole (with the TD unassembled, then placed screws in there and hot glued the nuts to the inside. Hope this makes sense.
  17. Done. See this thread for TK-4878 details: New thread for TK-4878
  18. I agree, under certain situations, it is helpful. I did a Kids walk on Friday, which was for JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation), and had so many elementary school kids guessing who I was. At the end of the walk, I was asked to speak to the kids (Since I also have Type 1, or Juvenile diabetes). I asked them if they wanted to see who I was, and they gave a resounding "YES". When I took off the bucket, most were surprised that it was not someone they knew, and I think that helped. I then told them not only was I a Stormtrooper, but I was a Type 1 Stormtrooper, and showed them my insulin pump, and talked a little bit about what they were doing would also help me. It was very powerful, and the kids were awesome. The school raised almost $4,000 for the walk. VERY Cool!!
  19. I agree. We can also look to add some of the other items, like frown paint scheme and kidney/butt plate seperation. Let me know what I need to do.
  20. Because deployment standards are based on screen accuracy (and jump in Paul if I am wrong), either will work. In the film, hero style helmtes can be seen with one or two screws on each side. The "normal" configuration for the hero was 1 screw per side, and the stunt 2, but it is not a part of the deployment standard. References to the side screws are not even covered, so there is no issue using two screws per side if you want to go the "hero" route. Again, I am very new as Deployment officer, but I have almost committed all of the Mark requirements to memory, and screws are not ever mentioned for ANH or ESB. However, no screws on the earcaps ARE part of the ROTJ standards. Hope this helps.
  21. Good to know. I did not mean to offend if I did.
  22. What browser are you using? Not sure if that will help, but always good to know exactly what is in place before troubleshooting. BTW, I also have that issue, and it usually is once every few days. I have a bookmark that goes to the latest posts, and once every few days I need to log in. Might be a combination of a few items, but it would be good to know either the why, and/or if it can be corrected.
  23. Can't wait to see it, but I guess I will have to.
