Will do. I am 5' 11", 200lbs. I am not the thinnest guy, but spent most of my younger life as an athlete, so I wear the 2 bills pretty well. I have been told by a few guys locally that I could wear the ANH armor, but I apprecaite the suggestions to try it out. I know the FX will work, thus my questions. Thanks fellas, I appreciate it. Any more comments or suggestions that are out there, keep 'em commin'.

OK, this may be a dumb question, but I have the opprotunity to get a set of ANH armor for the same price as a set of FX. I am wanting to do my next armor set as a TX (Black Hole Trooper), and a guy in our local garrison can do it in a ANH mold (without trimming) for the same as I could get an FX set. Now, I want to give the biz to a local guy, and I also think ANH would be a great second set to work on, but I would value your input. What are the pluses/minus here? Are there any? Am I dumb just for considering the FX? Are there gotchas to doing my own trimming? You tell me, that is why I ask. Thank guys!!!

Ok, here are my pics: Better view w/ a flash The one on the right of the photo is the new tusk. It looks like the ones that have been posted, although I saw a small diffrence in the comlink to this, but I need to know if this Deployment quality? Thanks,
-
So I assume the tusks are the same "piece" as the comlink top, just black? Man, I never noticed that before, but it makes perfect sense. The wife told me I got my tusks in the mail today, so I will try to swap them out and post a few pics. I have no idea if what I am getting is totally accurate, since they were donated, but beggars can't be choosers. I will try to post a pic tonight to get some feedback. Got my filler for my ab plate / kidney plate gap, working on my canvas belt, and just waiting on the Kenner conversion kit. One day, I will earn my Mark IV designation, one day................... Thanks for all the help, I have learned a lot, and really do appreciate all the help.

Thanks for all the help. I got a local trooper to "donate" a set to me, and they are on the way. I will post pics as soon as I get them installed. Thanks again,

PM sent. Thanks,

Thanks, I appreciate the help. Now, if I could just persuade Staomper to do another run, I would be on my way!!!

Good pics, but I am confused. When I look at the pics, the front one looks like mine, and I have seen the ones in the rear, but on your bucket, it looks like the one on the left (of the photo) is the same as the rear one in the foreground. Did you mean that? In your post, you said right and right, so I just want to be sure. Thanks,
-
Correct. My main challenges now are the canvas belt (just not done yet), and the blaster mod (on order). I just wanted to make sure I don't miss anything. Here is a close up of my bucket: As I said, I tried to use reference photos and such to be close, but if I am off, I want to make the correct changes. Thanks again,

Another place you can get it is thru Grainger ---------- Because I also wear glasses, I had to abort the ratchet style and use this one. The nice thing about this lines is that the straps are adjustable, so it moves with the mounts. This means I can place the mounts without having to measure and tape, then use the adjustment to determine the best location. I had no problems once I installed the clips getting the liner to work, and had no issues with my clips being in the wrong place. Best of luck,

So, I would need to contact one of these two people to get the "correct" ones? Not to sound ignorant, but can anyone tell me what makes these accurate? The reason I asked is when I did my helmet, I did research to get areators that "looked" like the ones on the screen, and added speakers to my sound system, so my bucket is all self contained. Thanks for the responses so far. I was under the impression from the pictures I had seen this was actually the black part between the areators, not the areators themselves. Thanks,

OK, I admit to being a rather new TK, and I have been able to get about 95% of the info I needed, but can someone please explain to me what these are? I was looking at the Deployment qualifications, and am working towards a Mark IV designation, and I see this Hovi-mix cast tusk reference, and I am confused. What are these? How are the different from the tusks that came with my helmet? How can I get the correct set? Thanks in advance for all the help. I am fine for Basic deployment, but I think I am looking form something a little more developed and harder to achieve. Thanks,
-
I saw this ands thought some of you might find it of interest. It has nothing to do with us TK's, but still an interesting story. Obi-Wan's cloak sold in the UK In case any of you are wondering, that equals $104,230.80 in USD.

Thanks. That is good to hear. My biggest "question" is always how does one actually make comparisons? When I started looking, all I found was FX armor, and the prices all seemed to be close to the same ($600 - $800). I got mine on the low end, and I am very happy with it. I am exploring things like a leather/canvas belt, replacing the ab buttons (Thanks Steve!!), and a left hand holster, among other things. These mods are easy to find, but I have yet to find what a full set of RT or AP armor would be. Maybe it is more about asking the producers, but I hate asking specific questions to people who are very busy about products I might not buy, nor be able to afford. I guess my wish would be some form of Armor Store, where everyone had their armor listed, price and all. I know that is unrealistic, but it would sure beat buying armor, building it, then finding out thru a series of secret passages and handshakes there is a whole lot more available. Now before anyone gets upset, I have learned TONS from this forum and others. I would be so lost without many of the people here, and a few other forums, and some of them I have to thanks for helping me make wise decisions. I only hope to be able to continue to learn and explore, as well as continue to add to and experience the thrill of building TK (and possibly TD) armor.

OK, can I jump on the bandwagon and make the same request? I just finished my first set of FX, and I am also happy with it, but I can certainly see the reason to explore and improve it without purchasing another armor set (even if I knew where to do that). Here is my info as well, if you would not mind, I would appreciate a PM as well, and any other info you would be willing to share with a brand new TK. ------------ Thanks,
-
Awesome!!! I wll put it there. Thanks for the pic. This will help me make sure it is in the right spot. Scott M.

That is what I thought I saw once, and remembered the way Luke grabbed the comlink in ANH, and I certainly appreciate the feedback. I feel better knowing that is the "proper" placement. Thanks, Scott M.

How about for cutting other parts? I am getting ready to seperate the butt cover from the lower back. What should I use? I have a cutting wheen and my Dremel, is that a good way to go? Thanks, Scott M.

OK guys, I am putting my first set together, and this site has been great!! I have learned a ton, and feel like my armor will be better to start with, thanks to you all. Now on to the questions: 1) Any recommendations for placement of a comlink prop? I have seen a few photos with it on the box part of the belt, but is that the best place? 2) After much reading, I see white canvas appears to be the belt of choice, am I correct? Also, are these belts adjustable? I don't indend to gain any weight, but a little slack would be nice. Thanks again, you guys are awesome. If I could figure out where to up load my pics, I would post some for your analysis and suggestions. Will work on that later, Later, Scott M.

Armor Transportation and Storage
Scott M. replied to Exodus's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
Great idea!! I am in the process of building my first set of armor, and would love to get a case like this for transport. Can you tell me what the dimensions of your case are (I am mainly interested in the depth)? I have a change to get one fairly cheap, but since my kit is not here yet, I don't want to buy something that will not work. The one I am looking at is 49" x 16". Is 16" gooing to be deep enough for the chest piece? I plan to use snaps, but I am just not sure. Thanks a ton, I will admit to being a total newbie. Scott M.
