  1. Great pictures Mark
  2. Mark i find this is ony true when painting the grey onto unpainted plastic. When using the same on a helmet that has been painted white, the grey appears darker, wierd
  3. I think that both Peter and Mike should be amongst the first to be included on the honours list, they have both been outstanding members of the fisd with their wide knowledge and skills and their willingness to help other aspiring troopers I also think that current staff members should not be eligible for this award, as being a serving member of the command staff here is a great reward in itself. And we could be accused of being bias Another great idea Paul
  4. Looking really good there Rolf ( no suprises!! ) I dont have anything holding the back of the shins closed, they just do as they please
  5. Do you mean the ribbed shoulder straps or the way the suit was internally strapped? If you mean the outer part they were made from plastic in anh and esb, so leather would not be correct. I dont think you would gain clearance with that for a stormtrooper, and certainly not eib. The sandtroopers on the other hand did not use the same plastic ribbed parts on the bridging , they were strapped using either canvas or elastic, again on the inside. Some sandies may use leather to do this but not stormtroopers.
  6. Yeah i see why some people like to paint the inside of their lids black, to stop people seeing up inside and what not.. But i never had the inclination to do this on any of my lids, a because you can not see up inside my lid and b its not scrren accurate. I like my stuff to be as close to the film props as possible, which is not to everyone's taste.. star shapped foam, check, flimsy green lens, check, elastic chin trap, check you get the idea
  7. Yep the AP eye bump is over exaggerated and needs raining in a tad..
  8. Here is a tip for you which will make your armour look 10 times better.. If you are going to overlap the armour to close it even in the back, make sure the armour part that is doing the overlapping is closing over the top, facing the inside of your body. So your left leg the outer part would close over the inner shin part. This will look much better than the other way round, which is how you seem to have it now.
  9. Everything seems to be in order, let hope that all important TK number gets here quick
  10. Now that is nice!!
  11. I have never left behind any parts at a troop but i can never find where i put that little doo hicky that i need for that other project.. i seem to spend ages looking in boxes for stuff
  12. I think i only have 7 helmets in my collection at this time, but it is lid #17 for me.. i think
  13. Ok so another month goes by and its time for another helmet build This time it is an ATA helmet. I got this just over a month or so ago and built it up on the first day of it arriving with me, but i had not had a chance to do anything with it since. ATA as you probably know by now is another styrene helmet kit. Which makes it very easy to work with. It took me about 2 hours to fully trim and assemble the helmet. Here it is after assembly. Ok i have painted and detailed the helmet and need to get some more pictures taken. Here is is after 2 coats of white enamel gloss, mmm shinny.. Stay tuned for more to some soon
  14. Its just a shame your decal is on the wonk Billy
  15. I dont use clamps either Rolf, just plenty of blue plainters tape Great progress!
  16. It does look rather shinny, that black... Looks nice though, maybe you could use a little glass wool to take off the sheene or are you thinking of redoing with satin or something?
  17. Hi Derek, Eugene hit the nail on the head here. The side gap being closed is not required for 501st application, this is something specific for EIB status. You will find that one of the only kits that need this issue addressing is the fx kit, as most of the other kits seem to allow the front and back to touch. Obviously it all depends on your body type and size. Currently you can choose to use either soft or hard materials to close the gap if you choose to do so
  18. This is going to be a sweet build, nice going there buddy
  19. The helmet turned out really nice Thayne I didnt know the ATA cam with the option of hero style ears..
  20. No i didnt make it i bought it a few years ago on the bay

  22. Get the visual references in and jobs a goodun.. ------------ -------------

  24. Would it be possible to return and exchange the plastic for something that better matches you armour?
