  1. All new generation troopers use the ribbed undersuit as standard. Only question is if it's ribbed at the thigh/seat, which did change between Rogue One and the TV shows from my understanding.
  2. 850's suits are of lower quality and are made in ABS, which is unable to capture the sharp edges and details that are the hallmarks of the New Gen suits. They also have refused to accept feedback from the FISD and are unlikely to be approved at any level other than basic. I'd avoid them, but judge for yourself - one of theirs completed in-house on the bottom vs a Jimmiroquai suit on the top (admittedly mine). Ah gotcha, those might work then if they have the right shape, symmetry, and raised/beveled coverstrips!
  3. Every single piece on a New Generation/Anthology/Non-Saga/whatever you want to call it Stormtrooper is substantively different than on the Original Trilogy suits and nothing should really cross over (including biceps), especially if you're aiming to be the first and set the standard for this new costume. I'd hate to see you put work into parts that won't really be able to be used. Best to wait for Jim, or if you have access to a printer, consider Mr. Paul's excellent Shoretrooper files for the arms and a few other pieces, or start with Nico Henderson's helmet.
  4. Done and done Looking forward to seeing your build! Note that Dave's Darkside Depot does not currently produce the proper "Anthology" style helmet, so you'd likely need to switch to a more accurate one for this to be approved, as it was only the Remnants that used the ANH style. Jim's armor fits a pretty wide range of troopers too due to the adjustable sides and overlapped thighs, so shouldn't be a major issue and his is by far the most accurate currently available. I'd look into his ribbed undersuit as well, or one from Imperial Boots.
  5. Double check your CRLs there - you may be thinking of the ANH Hero CRL, which mandates 3-bump ears. All ANH Stunt TKs should have 4 bumps, and Stunt are by far the more popular option. You should always check with whoever made your helmet and purchase parts from them so the color matches. Off the top of my head, I know TM and AM both make Hero style helmets with 3 bumps but likely others as well.
  6. That may be the issue then, yea... your GML should be able to sort it, and worst case have you reapply with the costume they approved. Good luck!
  7. Was your costume already completed when you applied, and did you indicate as such on your Legion application?
  8. Another great option are the vacuum-formed boxes from Jason Hill of Intergalactic Supply! I used a few of his and was very happy with the look over the tupperware. Totally! The key is that they are leather, and you'll just need to black out the stitching. I also recommend using some fake magazine 'shapers' out of balsa wood or dense foam to help them stay looking good. Most of us remove the angled loops on the back and make our own or use snaps to secure them to the belt. Here's my approved Centurion submission with the small pouch on the chest. Just ensure you mount it to the backpack strap or pauldron as low as possible or you'll have trouble turning your head. Interesting... not many people making those. Can I ask where from or can you provide a link? DO NOT use Sharpie anywhere on or near your armor - it can bleed purple that will stain when wet/sweaty. I used a black paint pen. An exciting build ahead! Let us know if you have any questions we can help with and good luck!
  9. Welcome, Scott, and congrats on your approval!
  10. Hey Mike, welcome and congrats on that beautiful set of armor! Unless you've received feedback and have things to fix, there is NO WAY that the approval process should take more than a month, so I would definitely follow up with your local unit's GML to ensure everything was submitted and received properly. Let us know if you have any questions on the process and good luck!
  11. Awesome photo and welcome to FISD! I'd ensure RS knows if you're going for higher levels of Legion approval, as they do a couple things on their commission builds that don't jive with the DOs here on the forums, and we want to ensure you're fully happy with your armor. Best of luck and let us know if you have any questions!
  12. Awesome - we don't see too many Legacy kits, and yours looks great! Congrats on your first troop, hopefully of many!
  13. I was curious how many of these awards are actually around out there, so for tracking (maybe add to the OP?), please find them below with approximate dates of award. So mine would be the 6th ever and first in 3 years... I'd love to see more and encourage others to put in the work and submit! 11/28/2017 - TK-61972, Walter @Haribon72, Golden Gate Garrison 11/28/2017 - TK-1636, Mike @TK1636, Dune Sea Garrison 02/19/2018 - TK-10116, Tony @ukswrath, Golden Gate Garrison 07/31/2018 - TK-70701, Jeff @Oztrooper, Southern California Garrison 09/11/2019 - TK-39093, Arthur @giskard8, Hong Kong Garrison 08/29/2022 - TK-61490, Justin @TheRascalKing, Southern California Garrison
  14. A little wholesome Doofus Rick content for all my fellow trophy hunters out there...
  15. Looking great Will! AM is awesome armor and this is a beautiful set. A very strong recommendation to put some fuzzy Velcro or the like over the Chicago screws in the back of your belt too - anywhere metal is going to contact your armor will scratch it badly in no time (holster and TD clips included). I wonder though if the bottom tab where your male snaps are currently mounted on the posterior will need to be removed, as was requested by a previous DO in one of my mentee's submissions not that long ago? Might be worth mentioning to Dave as well if that's how he builds them... just a thought and an easy fix if so! I just like seeing consistency From this: To more like this:
  16. Ladies yoga pants may be a more economical choice with side pockets, but finding them without logos/colored stitching is the tough part. This isn't a cheap hobby, but I feel ya.
  17. Hey Bart, It might be best to look for the cheapest ones you can find for your first undersuit, in case you find you have any pinch or rub points that need sanding, so you don't rub holes in and destroy a nice suit... but this is my current favorite, from Imperial Boots (who have a wave open now). Their 2-piece suit is very high quality material, logo free, and has pockets on the outside of the thighs that should be covered by your thigh armor. They work great, and will not stain your armor purple like some lower-quality suits. As always, nothing is "501st approved"... it either complies with our standards and is 'approvable', or not (and this would be). Hope that helps! https://www.imperialboots.com/product/stormtrooper-undersuit/
  18. And a 6th added and confirmed for good measure!
  19. Thanks so much all! I believe that makes 5
  20. This is sort of a soapbox topic for me, so we'll just get right into it again... I juuuuuuuust don't get it when it comes to the rubber gloves. Mine only ever come out for L2/L3 photos and that's IT - never for trooping. And the solution for "my gloves are too hot" being to... add more gloves? Nope. I live and troop in sunny Southern California and it's pretty consistently 80°F+ (27°C+) in the summer, so I want to be doing all I can to be comfortable so that I can troop longer, happier. And trust me that in all my years, not a single person (including LFL) has ever mentioned my gloves. I wear the lightest, thinnest all-black "running gloves" that I can find, and these above are my current favorite. You do need to clip the tags off, and I highly recommend washing them thoroughly before wear to ensure there's no dye left in them (but to confirm, it is not the purple type that will stain your armor), but otherwise these are perfect, imo. I like the little grip they have, I can use my phone with them on, and the cuff is long enough to tuck into my forearms. The nomex are better than rubber, but I find they don't fit as well, and the leather strip that most have down their palm is unnecessary and looks worse, imo. I pair these with the stock plastic (Anovos) handguards, which are not as hot as gluing on silicone handguards either, and utilize two straps that are E6000'ed in to help it stay flush when I bend my wrist. The top is 1" black braided/knit elastic (not woven/ribbed, which has no place anywhere on your suit) and the one glued in at the wrist is admittedly just a flat black hair tie, but it does the job well and they are readily available. Hope this helps!
  21. Thanks, Scott! The work has already been put in for sure and I appreciate you confirming, but it'll count once you're EIB-certified and we may still have some work ahead!
  22. @JHowe102 (for two separate EIB-awarded suits), @Ninety-Nine, @Dsposato0, and @Gh0stxxiv - please certify that I served as your Armorer and have spent at least 30 minutes providing hands-on help trimming, building, and/or fitting your armor that was awarded Expert Infantry status, as above. Thank you!
