  1. Any measurements for brow height were simply examples and an initial thought process. As previously stated, an exact measurement was not the intention - a visible gap between the eyes and the brow would allude more to the majority of screen used Stunts.
  2. Looks like the additional tube stripe police have you covered. ;-) Keep up the good work. [emoji1303]
  3. Loving the witty banter, chaps. ;-) With respect, I don’t feel that brow placement is getting into in-depth replica territory. This isn’t SWAT, emulating a specific trooper. To my eye, it’s a simple case of spot the difference. I understand the appeal of the low brow look. That said, I personally feel that it is more representative of certain hero helmets in ANH, as per the CRL and reference material. Much like the 6 teeth drilled and narrower frown. Just my personal opinion and really appreciate the feedback from across the community. :-)
  4. Coming on nicely! I love a good blaster build, and this is certainly a good one. :-)
  5. Welcome aboard, Shawna. Look forward to following your build. :-) Dan
  6. Hi Paul, No worries. I always try to be careful with my wording but apologies if it came across wrong. I agree that there is not a defining “hero” vocoder. Stunt does appear to have a consistently full style which Brendan has now done. Always appreciate your input. Awesome job on the ears and vocoder!! You’re making great progress. Regarding the tube stripes, you’re not a million miles of so we wouldn’t penalise you for it. When you apply for EIB and Centurion, you will likely find myself or one of the other Deployment Officers ‘suggesting’ that the tube stripes would ideally be approximately a pencil width from the cheek. Keep up the great work, Trooper.
  7. As the "Tube Stripe Sheriff", I'm pleased to see hat this is catching on. My concern would be, not all 'generic' tube stripe templates account for the 'lean'. As an example, unbeknownst to me at the time, the templates that came with my trooping lid (not the one in the link) were pretty generic and could have been used on either cheek. I now know that this template was less accurate and would do it differently in the future (as I've learned a heck of a lot more in the last 18 months). As here, the Dave M style templates account for this lean but are commonly applied backwards. In this case, it is very obvious to the trained eye that they are backwards. In summary, I would continue to 'suggest' this to EIB and L3 applicants, however unless all members purchase the exact same templates this would be hard to enforce. I get what you're saying, however, I personally feel that the iconic look of the ANH Stunt TK is changed when the brow is touching the eyes. Yes, it might only be 5mm, however, it makes a huge difference.
  8. Hi Paul, If you’re referring to my post, I specified “a little closer to a specific ANH Hero look” followed by a specific hero helmet from ANH. I am not saying that all hero helmets have the same as this specific trooper. Best wishes Dan
  9. Nice work Brendan. The frown paint addition really adds to it. [emoji1303] As you asked, I’ll just give a tiny bit of constructive feedback. If you’re aiming for the higher clearance levels at some stage, you might consider the vocoder paint (as Matt marked up a few posts back) and the tubestripes spacing. As below, the typical stunt has the fuller vocoder shape, with the top three bars being more aligned with each other. Yours is currently a little closer to a specific ANH Hero look; Hero style mentioned above, with bars 2 and 6 shorter; The other thing I’d mention is that the tube stripes are usually suggested at approx. a pencil width away from the cheeks. Yours are possibly a little further than that (pictured above in first pic). This wouldn’t be a clearance issue, just something that might be raised as a suggestion at a later date for the higher degrees of screen accuracy. Keep up the great work. Looking forward to the armour build. The helmet is probably one of the hardest bits so you’re over that hurdle now. :-) Best wishes Dan
  10. Haha!! :-) Going back to your question, personally, I wouldn’t expect any cleared troopers to be asked to change to their brow height. They cleared based on the rules at the time. I just think that this would help maintain the iconic image of the two different ANH TK types moving forward. :-)
  11. Good question. I was thinking of a max to stop people going way high, like the move along trooper, as I’m not aware of a TK with a brow that high. Looking back at the ref pics, this one of probably more like 15mm; Totally open for discussion - I’ve not made any actual measurements yet, just a guess by eye. :-)
  12. Like it. Perhaps; “ L1: There should be a visible gap between the brow trim and eyes. L2: A gap of approximately 5mm to 10mm must be present between the brow trim and eyes.
  13. I just had to go and check In keeping with the CRL pic, you are fine Sir () Agreed. Andrew’s looks fine to me. It has that clear gap between the eyes and the brow. It’s those with no clear definition between eyes and brow that look more hero than stunt. Like the below but when apparent on a stunt lid; Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Haha! Eeek. In that case, I appreciate your non-biased approach to what I’ve raised (no pun intended). ;-)
  15. Yep - CRL photo supports this already. Personally, I’d totally agree that this should be at GML level and a basic requirement. You want low brow? Hero it is. You want stunt - a small gap must exist above the eyes, as per the majority of screen used stunt TKs. :-)
  16. “Something to strive for beforehand”. That’s a great point. Many details of the TK have emerged over the years and become common place within builds (and hopefully enforced by GMLs). If we agree on certain elements based on facts and logic, and continue to “suggest” them for EIB and/or L3, they will hopefully become ‘the norm’ and could, perhaps, be added to the CRL when the time is right.
  17. Positioning of ears wise, I hear you. This could require some serious work to correct so perhaps this could continue to be a ‘suggestion’ for accuracy that we highlight as DOs. Regarding the brow, and specifically Paul TM, he knows his stuff and is unlikely to make stunts with a low brow. A quick glance at the pre-builds that he’s made on his FB page confirms this with ANH stunt (the the 4 or 5 I just looked at). His hero lids, on the other hand, do feature a lower, hero-esc brow.
  18. Thanks for the feedback, folks. Firstly, I’m really pleased to hear that the idea is not an instant no-no. [emoji1] Based on the content of the existing L2 requirements*, I would have to ask the question - Would Joe public be more likely to recognise, or relate to, the iconic stunt trooper because of; a/ the brow height b/ the number of bumps on the side of the ears (for example) Personally, I think the answer, cut and dry, would be the brow height (based on the photos above). Based on this, my suggestion would be that this is a fundamental part of the Stunt TK and would be a fair requirement for L2 (if not basic). After all, if a low brow is desired, the option is there as a Hero. (Not trying to preach - just presenting the foundations of why I’ve brought this up and why I feel it’s important). * Level two certification (if applicable): •Ears shall have three screws per side, one above and one below the ear bar and one at the base of the helmet. •Ear bars have four bumps only. Not three. •Traps/tears and tube stripes shall have the correct ANH TK details. •Correct 'Hovi mic' aerator tips.
  19. You’re doing well. No reason why you can’t head for 501st clearance if that’s your goal. :-)
  20. Looking super, Garry. I’m sure this will be a straight forward one for your GML. Once you get your clearance, don’t hesitate to aim for EIB and Centurion. Looks like you have to potential to go all the way. :-)
  21. Looking awesome, Tino!! Love the idea of the troop count on your battle box. I might have to adopt a similar method. Frohes neues Jahr, Tino. :-)
  22. Hi Garry, Any chance you could re-paste your image links as “direct link”? They’ll then show up in the thread rather than having to click on each link individually. Thanks in advance. :-)
  23. Hi all, Following on from this below thread, it was suggested to start a new thread and try with potential suggestions. https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/45204-july-2018-request-for-crl-updates-thread/ In this case, the topic that I’d like to raise is ANH stunt brow height. As a huge fan of the ANH TK, the overall, or what I believe to be the “intended” look of our beloved stunt Trooper is very important to me. As well as items already covered by the CRL, such as hand painted helmet details (or decals that emulate this), correct style hovi tips, accurate s-trim etc etc, I personally feel that the brow height is just as important, if not more so, to the defining look of a stunt TK. I have prepared a series of photos below to support the theory that stunt TKs have at least 5mm (approx) or more clearance between the top of the eyes and the brow. (Around 10mm would probably be a better suggestion). Now, I know that there are examples of stunt TKs with a low brow, (similar in appearance to Luke’s hero lid), and I have pictured these below. However, it is my opinion that these low brow stunts are wardrobe malfunctions, not intentional. Example of “low brow”, hero style; Examples of “stunt” style *Below should read “bubble lenses” I believe the above indicates that the brow height is intended a certain way for stunt - higher for stunt, lower for Hero. We strive for accuracy in many areas, such as the minimum and max number of tube-stripes and how far these are from the cheek, how many ear screws or type of screw for various parts, how many ear bumps we paint, and many more small details, however, something as hugely defining as the brow height is not covered. I am not trying to bash those with low brow - I am simply raising that the brow, in my opinion, is equally as defining as many other elements of our beloved TK. I have discussed this with fellow troopers and some have mentioned that the low brow is “menacing”. That’s all well and good, but, does it look like an ANH stunt trooper or like a hybrid stunt/hero TK? I would appreciate any and all input on this from the community. :-) Dan
  24. Nice work, Brendan. The paint work looks great. :-) As Mark suggested, there’s quite a bit more of the ears to come off. I’ve highlighted the cut lines in the below; Here’s a nice ANH reference pic Keep up the good work. :-)
