That`s the sprit Trooper - adapt and overcome

I have a couple of the smaller version, not as elaborate as CTID:s but happy with them, there`s also foam lined with white (black for the Shadow of course) fabric at the bottom and they fit nicely in the trunk

AP Armour - Trimmed - ANH Centurion - First Build Thread
TheSwede replied to Mr_Fahrenheit's topic in ANH Build Threads
Most often the reason for handpainting is that it`s the way it was made for the Movie (ANH as ESB/ROTJ had decals) and those going for Centurion, me included, want to emulate the screen used suits as much as possible and also it gives another level of pride to be able to say you did everything yourself Some, like me, also takes it a step further and assemble the suit just how they did using the bracket system, foam star in helmet and so on, inside is however totally upp to the builder and as long as it looks right from the outside your golden Welcome to FISD - looking forward seeing your build as you progress -
Looks good, I would taper the wrist some more but make sure you can still slide your hand through

Question about velcro-ing the lower legs
TheSwede replied to rzill's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
I followed TM (troopermaster) instructions to copy the movie suit, you can find it on his FB page. The elastic is to be 1inch. I haven't seen what method Tony uses but i would guess he also does the screen accurate way -
Question about velcro-ing the lower legs

I have them on 4 suits and no problem what so ever -
For Centurion - No return edge at all on the wrist end of forearms. Canon pic for reference
-
Hey Ryan Arms look good, however always try to have your undersuit on when sizing your armor, especially if you are new to this Return edges are optional with one exception and that is there cannot be any on the wrist end of forearms for Centurion, but it`s always a good idea to remove those for Comfort, on the forearms that is, everywere else it`s up to you, leaving some gives an illusion of thickness and heft to the armor so try to keep atleast some unless it`s in conflict with comfort/mobility. As for sizing your forearms, put your undersuit/shirt on and put the biceps on and then the forearms, hold the biceps up over the elbow joint and then try and tap yourself on the top of the head, you might have to be creative with the angels but a good rule of thumb is to be able to put on/remove the helmet on your own - if you have a helmet to try this with even better. If you need to shorten the forearms do so at the wrists but show us how it looks before you do it

You mean the shoulder elastic right? -
Had time for a little session today as well so sanded the biceps and added more paste and put some on the ab/kidney to then sat them aside and started on the forearms. KB updated the molds so they are now 2 pieces instead of 4 and apparently makes them a breeze to build - sounds good Identifying the parts that go together, this is the right. Ref pic The smaller piece goes inside, no trimming done yet though This made me nervous upon receiving the kit but according to KB you cut that off and that would look similar to ref pic above, the whole side was also paper-thin, almost see-through KB for reference, looks wierd but really don`t have an option but to cut. So that`s what I did - not liking the look of this…. The back side offers some option to size, not to much or they won`t line up properly as you can`t trim from both sides. Will look inte that more later. Rought trimmed the left and it was in "better" shape, also thicker, so did a gradul cut and to me that looks better so decided to rebuild the right with some abs but that`s for next time.

Looking good and like Tony said - almost there Question: would it be possible to lift the torso section up some? Looks like you can but alwyas hard to tell for sure, that way you might get the thighs a bit higher and and at the same time possible trim the shins down (at the bottom) as it looks hard to walk as it stands right now. If you can walk no problem then take no notice of me -
Helmet Pads vs. Hard Hat Liner
TheSwede replied to Xanthais's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Auto-correct is a wonderful thing so I will let this one slide ”work”...oops I couldn’t Don’t be mad, I am knee-deep in abs paste and the acetone is clearly getting to me... -
Helmet Pads vs. Hard Hat Liner

Wow! That’s a lot of room -
Yeah I’m happy how it turned out, it was one of those ”hmmm I wonder it that would work-moments” that really paid off And I might drill some holes to have some tubing and wires comming out, that’s my original plan but leaving it for now. And I just have to say that it doesn’t look like a rubber mask at all and could easily function as a display piece, atleast I think so but I might be biased And beeing the swell chap that I am I can trade you for yours

To chatter or not to chatter
TheSwede replied to ukswrath's topic in Electronics for Helmets / Blasters
All you`ve done for a while now is chatter and you are a TK! Last joke, I promise -
Well...the Sandtrooper already has alot of accessories with the pauldron, field pack, extended arsenal etc but I figured having some more wouldn`t hurt And...I´m pretty sure this is a droid we are looking for!! I need a net bag to finish this of so I can carry it in my hand or strapped to the pack on those non-formal troops or when I´m attending as Joe-public As a nice change of pace I won`t say anything, just show how I did - feel free to ask if something is unclear though

Decided to go velcro to start with for the arms, and legs, that way I can size them more after wearing it a few times if needs be thus making the sizing process alot easier and allowing me to size them up or down as I see fit just making the overlap bigger/smaller by adjusting/replace the velcro....however….when I taped up an inch ovelap and tried them on they were snug, I only removed the flashing so haven`t trimmed it down any and that felt wierd because all I`ve heard about this kit is that it`s massive..well it`s not. I had no problem with the limbs fitting when I tried them, thighs were about 2inch overlap on each side so plenty of room there, Shins a bit less but still ample room - not massive amounts though. Chest and back is unaltered meaning I left all I could, ab/kidney I cut 4 inches total and it fits snug around my waist. So this beeing a massive kit is simply not the best description, atleast in my opinion. Or the molds have changed but I don`t see why they would as he made the ab section taller to accomodate taller troopers, it seem strange that he would alter the width/girth….Aaaanyway I should get the bicep to work, I´ll see when I try them with the gaskets...whaaaat!! you haven`t?...no I haven`t as I haven`t trimmed anything other than the extra material My ego would be boosted if I needed to shim the biceps so not to unhappy after all What I have doen is to cut the pill-holes on biceps, smeared some paste, one side had tinner plastic so that`s why it`s such a mess...and I filled the seam on the ab/kidney using a stronger filler due to the pieces seeing some flexing when putting it on. Biceps are a test-subject with the paste, if I open the velcro to put on/of it might crack the seam but I wanted to experiment as I have faith in the abs-paste, they are easy enough to sand/refill and repaint if that happens. It`s not finished yet but the stronger stuff hardens quickly so had time to rough sand that.

Xan's ANH Stunt Build [ATA]
TheSwede replied to Xanthais's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Yes but you can also use a punch tool, soldering iron or pretty much anything that makes a hole depending on preference and material as I wouldn’t recommend using a drill on soft materials. And size is to use something making a hole just big enough for the post to go through, soft materials as webbing and elastic has a tendancy to frey so a soldering iron would be my choice for that as it seals it when making the hole. And it works great on plastic to -
Helmet Pads vs. Hard Hat Liner
TheSwede replied to Xanthais's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
A hard hat liner provides some air flow around your head, some like the snug feeling you can achieve with padding...if I wasn’t such a nerd for building screen accurate (atleast OT armor) I would go with a helmet rig...I use the star foam with chin strap and happy with that, and have no need for fans as I have small gaps (non visible) around the lens that keeps them fog-free
