The Mrs. was sent some rubberized fabric to make a custom set of gaskets for a guy. The material is from yayahan I think, and the same material as the FN gaskets. The rubber has a duller finish than the material we use. It has about the same sheen as the satin we used at first, and it does not breathe at all. Sort of defeats the purpose of having cloth. Mrs. tk4205 gaskets are still the only game in town for breath-ability and High sheen. If anyone wants a sample of our ribbed gasket material, just send a self addressed stamped envelope to: Imperial Gaskets PO Box 322 Peshastin WA 98847 USA

HOWTO: Magnetic Plug and Socket. No more velcro.

Paul, if you lock it first, inside-out, it will go on already open. You put it on while locked. I like the way it snapped shut on its own. I hope you guys are enjoying this mod. -
Here they go for $200.00 I'm not sure what the Mrs. charges. I'll have to ask her. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Star-Wars-TFA-FN-Stormtrooper-Costume-Cloth-gasket-set-soft-parts-/222139891752?hash=item33b891c028:g:Fp8AAOSwtJZXUUSa

I touched it. I actually put my finger skin and digits upon the the actual surface of that actual stormtrooper. I remember dragging a couple of you along with me but I don't remember your names. You guys were great and I couldn't have gotten the comparison shots otherwise.

I respect Tony's work as much as the next brownoser. Remember that there were lots of builders that built their kit with no instruction whatsoever. I was asked by the owner of the anovos kit that I built to use Rustolium, because "that's what the pro's were using" . My Krylon suits look the same as they did when I painted them, whereas the FOTK I painted with Rusolium a year ago, is already starting to turn.

Simple as pie. Easier than pie for me; all of my pies turn out bad. Anyway, Use Bondo brand all purpose putty. You can even glue your armor together with it. I used to use Devcon, lots of it, but the bondo all purpose works just as well just as quick and is cheaper. It comes in a can and a small tube of activator. It sands and feathers like magic. I've painted lots of armor with various brands of rattlecan. Krylon Fusion is my favorite. They make fusion primer, but it's hard to find. Your hardware could probably order it for you.

Built in cloth gaskets can still be removed for washing. It only takes a few velcro tabs and it never has to be adjusted when you put it on. I suspect this is the reason for the movie suits as well. Easy way to keep track of left and right parts too. Personally, I would do everything I could to make rubber screen accurate gaskets and stay away from cloth.

Yeah, the grey one. It doesn't seem any more heavy duty than the Emerald Viking, but it is definitely a lot faster, which is what we were looking for. The Viking lasted for 9 years. We'll see what we get out of the Singer HD.
-
Just picked up a Singer Heavy Duty for the Mrs. It says "heavy duty" on it so it must be heavy duty right?

Back in the day, I considdered building wet-suit gaskets into my OTK, in the same fashion as the FOTK is ow. It just seemed like the best method. I opted for screen accuracy and just went with a compression suit. As far as the FOTK is concerned, building the gaskets to the armor is screen accurate.

Velcro tabs do hold the gaskets in place. They come out easy when you want them too. You need to back your gaskets with a non stretch fabric or your going to have your ribs flatten out when you wear them.
-
Do you mean a "walking foot"? That's what the Mrs. uses. I still do not like the idea of "wearing the gaskets". Building the gaskets in to the armor is simply the way to go, whether you use cloth or rubber. Good luck guys, in whatever you decide. After a decade of rehashing the same old costumes, we now have something new.

We looked in to having ours made in a factory, but we would have had to start with 1,000 sets. Most US shops will charge upwards of 200, so if this FN guy is getting $100 for his, we can't match that. I wondered why a lot of our customers were jumping ship after ordering from us. This would explain that.

I have been in the process of updating molds to a more screen accurate shoulder gasket. I am also creating a full polyurethane mother mold so I do not have to build mold boxes and bases any more. This will speed up my mold production time when they wear out or get broke. Molds are like working with fine china in a bull pen. FOTK belt kits are in stock and ready to ship with no wait time. Pauldrons are on hold until new gasket molds are complete and up and running. White pauldrons are on hold until I solve the problem that I'm having with the color. Cloth gaskets are still in production by Mrs. tk4205. She answers all of your emails, handles invoicing, printing, labeling shipping and book keeping. She also does all of the material scouting, sourcing and ordering too. I don't know how she finds the time to sew for us. She cares about us troopers, so It makes her sad when members rant and rave and drop F-bombs on her because they are tired of waiting. Our order list is "first come, first served" and I don't care who you are. Unless of course, you're the president;) If you are on our list and get an invoice, please don't ignore it; we have lots of people waiting and I wont take it personal if you no longer wish to buy. Just don't hold up the line. Imperial Gaskets (rubber) are the premium gaskets for accuracy, durability and comfort. You can reach Centurion level in only two brands of gaskets, but only one you can actually move in . Email [email protected] to reserve your spot today. Cheers to all and thank you for your business.

I have a connection in Seattle, Paul. I'll let you know the next time I have an appointment with him. He's very good about answering questions.

It matters. The difference between anovos and fan-made is the same difference between Mrs Smith's frozen apple pie and Grandma's home made apple pie. The main ingredient is love.

The more I look at this helmet, the more the duck-bill pops out at me.
-
I keep checking my mail. So far nothing. I will keep all of you up to date and let you know the minute the kits arrive.

I guess what I'm asking is why we follow the demands of some license holder? Prior admin bent over backwards- or frontwards as the case may be. General Mills has a license too. Will we have to march to their beat if they so desire? Where does it stop? Unless the mouse steps up and tells us that we have to follow demands of these license holders, I say we should do what we've always done; Help each other and share our work. All you guys that think that it's as easy as scan-copy-print, I urge you to reproduce something, anything, even a golf ball and get back to me and let me know how it worked out for you. If you're proud of your NDA and "legal armor", go hang out on your private FB group. Just please stop insulting the prop builders less all we will get is what license holders give us.
-
This question is for admin; Why are all the fotk builds 501st only?
-
28!
-
Most importantly, the specifications were/are wrong. I think the NDA is a joke. I say kudos to anyone that can produce a screen accurate kit. So far none of you have done that. No one has, licensed or otherwise.

We need some armorers. We need some kits. We need to send this company packing wherever it is they came from.

Hey awesome video! Question; You mentioned in your video that the helmet was cast from a screen used helmet and an exact copy. Where did you hear that?
