I got a bit more work finished last night all of my armour (proper) is trimmed and rough sanded. I have also cut out the TD end caps and sanded down nicely to roughly 19-20mm as I have seen in Billograms, and a few other threads. I'm still hesitant and frankly a little scared to start strapping and installing my plates as well as riveting the ab plate . The next step is to cut/sand out my dropboxes, belt, and thigh pack, start installing snaps and fit the leg armour. I left my camera at work so I will need to post more pictures later. I am closer to the Great Lakes Garrison in Michigan but technically am part of the Canadian (in citizenship and geography), It's a matter of a few minutes to any event in Detroit or surrounding area, as opposed to 3-5 hours to the GTA where the majority of the troopers I correspond with reside :L kind of sucks I already had to miss an armour party because they all live so far, that and money... I ain't made of the stuff.

The more stuff you put in there the more cramped it gets. Mine is pretty barren right now Sent from my SGH-I317M using Tapatalk

snap and strap options (pre-work)
ComradeDave replied to vluvski's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
I bought a whole bunch of different materials for this. I have 1" & 3" black elastic and nylon for snap plates and connections, 1/8th", 3/4", and 2" white elastic for the shoulder straps and dropboxes and a bunch of different sized white and black industrial velcro. I will definitely be using a combo of all of these. -
Foam lining inside your Armor
ComradeDave replied to TKZombie's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
EVA floor mat foam is what I'm using in my helmet and probably for my padding too -
I also used this one.

I can fit my bucket on without taking off my glasses. But this is a pretty cool idea!

I see the picture now. Ok first if the wrist return edge is still there that can be completely taken off. you can also probably trim the side edges that go toward your inner forearm down to fit. Try dry fitting the 2 pieces and mark where they are comfortable on your arms. for mine I had to trim to 6.5mm on the ridge of my forearms on either side for a 13mm coverstrip
-
hmmm, that's an issue I've run into too. do you have any pictures of the pieces needing better fitting. Some of those problem areas can be reshaped via hot water, or VERY careful heating. I've already had to for go the typical cover strip widths on my armour due to my size.

Knockerbot large AP build

I hear that bud. I also have Bi-Polar, it's not something people like us like admitting but it's a disease and it makes everything harder. We're here for ya. I think of it like this, sandtroopers are still stormtroopers just dirtier lol -
Lol thanks guys. I did make a bit of progress last night I sanded down my ab and kidney shell, made a bunch of webbing plates for my snaps, cut out my shins and moved my operation to my garage lair. I didn't take any pictures though I was too busy singing loudly and bobbing up and down in my mancave of freedom lol. I also went out and bought some nice heavy duty 3 inch webbing and 3 inch elastic for my strapping system. I used eva foam in my helmet affixed with industrial velcro but I'm going to have to put more in there I'm still getting a helmet wobble :L probs be doing a bit more tonight. Like all people I wish I won the lottery and didn't have to work my stupid job so I could make this a full time job lol.

That's a good call. To keep the pressure well distributed whilst hammering Sent from my SGH-I317M using Tapatalk

Yeah. I'm using the same type the hammer and anvil type. I saw in another thread that Philips screwdriver trick I'm going to try it as well. So many troopers are getting approved I have literally no time to dedicate. Today I'll try and get a bunch done. Sent from my SGH-I317M using Tapatalk

Ab/kidney Plate Reshape help
ComradeDave replied to ComradeDave's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
Looking tight Kris thanks for the share! -
Ok so I put some padding in my helmet I probably need more I don't want the helmet to wobble. So basically more on the sides. the top is decent my eyes line up alright with the lenses. In other news I made a bunch of webbing snap plates... The snap tool doesn't work on line 24 snaps so it was a waste of 10 bucks, the hammer and anvil work way better.. Live and learn I guess.

Brattie's AP Build and Journey to The 501st

And All of this parachuting talk is making me nervous lol. Seriously Jason and Aaron you guys are heroes, I thought about joining the Forces when I was younger but totally chickened out and went and got a useless degree from our local crappy university. I am in a completely different field for work :L Anyways point is you are real men and I am a scared child LMAO. When I cut my thumb open again on Sunday I said "sh&* sh*^ Sh&*!!!!", ran up stairs turned ghost white and fainted for 2 seconds and the fiancee screamed and proceeded to bandage me up. I'm full of wacky anecdotes -

I hear that man the housing is one of the cheapest markets in Canada where I live, I pay less on my mortgage every month on a 4 bed 2 bath home than I did on a 1 bed apartment! Hell if you can move to Detroit it's even cheaper over there, across the river is my American home away from home lol. -
