Not a Jedi Yet's first build (RS ESB)
justjoseph63 replied to Not a Jedi Yet's topic in ESB Build Threads
Looking fantastic, Adam! If I could offer a few words of advice, they would be: 1. Trim down the insides of the bicep some more before you glue on the cover strips. 2. They may seem comfortable now, but after 3-4 hours with your arms bent holding an E-11 during a troop those lower return edges may cause you some serious discomfort by digging in to your inside arm (trust me). No one sees the upper parts of the biceps as they are covered by the shoulder bells, so you can remove them all if you want to. PERFECT job on trimming the wrist openings!! You NAILED them! Woo Hoo! -
Painting Using Templates 101
justjoseph63 replied to justjoseph63's topic in Tutorials, Tips and HOWTOs
As a professional painter for many years I hear ya' about removing tape while wet, but latex is a different animal than enamel. Enamel dries a lot slower, and if you lift it off too soon "strings" from the paint can come up with the sides of the tape and fall onto the edges of the stripes. I did this on purpose (lifted the tape while the paint was wet) as seen in the pic below, which sort of defeats the step of adding the white paint first. That's where Goo-Gone comes in mighty handy. -
Hi Justin, and Thank You for your submission for Centurion level HWT! CRL and Centurion Application Requirements All required photos are now in and, after review, we are pleased to welcome you to Centurion! On behalf of Sha Sha and myself, congratulations! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly In this area we discuss areas that could benefit from additional improvement. Note that we consider both text (CRL) and pictures (screen caps/reference images) when reviewing submissions Nothing to see here: Move along! Great to finally see this, brother, and welcome to ranks of the few, the proud, the HWT Centurions!

It might be best to post up a few pics after removal, and we can asses it from there. -

Hi Peter! Fantastic to see a Makaze squad member stepping up for EI, sir. Knowing Gary And Gary jr.'s work, I can see why it looks incredible! Although the current CRL for the Hero Hovi-tips is under debate right now (needs to be changed)... the interiors (except for the rear parts) and the screen should be black (just as you have them), but in looking at the Hero reference images below you can clearly see the presence of some white(ish) color around the tips. Although there are a small number of references showing the rims as black, the majority had the discoloration. -

Looking great, Adam! For someone who is (as you said) "...definitely not a handy person" you are going a fantastic job! Now that you have mastered the Dremel, I would suggest taking the top joins of the forearms down for not only a sleeker look, but so that they don't poke into you. It also looks as if you are aiming for Centurion down the line so you might want to remove all of the return edges (even in the "hump" area) bit more, and keep those photos coming! Reference image -

"I will very likely be making a dirtyboi at some point as well, so we'll just say I'm prepping for that". Do I see a HWT pack build being added to your "to-do" list in the future? I certainly hope so! -
Hi Hideya! I would suggest getting in touch via PM with either (or both) of our Imperial Attaches for the Japan Garrison, Brian @Bulldog44 or Asa @SgtGarand. Good luck on your 501st submission approval!

Those turned out incredible, Jellyn, AWESOME job! -
Christine has given you some absolutely golden advice there, Emma. I know it may seem like a pain to make a template like that, but I have every faith that you will do a fantastic job, and it will be well worth the effort I promise. Just keep the heat gun a lower setting and take baby-steps. It may help to practice on some scraps first to get the hang of how far away from the armor you should keep the tip of the gun. Also, remember that the return edge does not need to be very wide... just enough to keep the bottom of the kidney from sliding over the posterior plate.
