  1. I pulled my Anovos Hero armor out of storage after 2 years and there is some yellowing. I find this strange as I've only had it out and worn it (indoors) 3 times, otherwise it's sealed in a bin, so no sunlight.
  2. I always stress how careful folks have to be with these.. they can break skin and bring blood if handled incorrectly. Remember, these are NOT solid metal like regular magnets... I have seen them jump 6 inches to connect and shatter on impact.
  3. Looks like you have quite a bit of seepage there, but this is actually easily removed. Just use a razor knife and carefully trim along the cover strip.... just deep enough to cut through the glue. After that, it should rub off using your thumb or a sharpened popsicle stick.
  4. I think Doopydoos has left the stage on producing E-11's, sad to say. I LOVE their kits and have built a few of them, but I have been on the waiting list for almost 5 months with no reply. I have emailed them several times as well to no avail.
  5. EXCELLENT find there, Tim! The ones shown in that site (specifically these) have some advantages: 1. One inch diameter will have a wider surface area. 2. Recessed area (countersunk hole) in the center would make them easier to slide apart. 3. Very strong.. N52 as opposed to N40. 4. PRICE! At $1.09 each, these come in less expensive than most others. I will be adding this link to my main post, and THANKS! By the way, as mentioned in my main post- Unless you are planning on building another set of armor, most of you will really not need this type of magnet when you are done so please consider "paying it forward" to someone in your Garrison/Squad who is starting their build by selling them your magnets at a reduced price. "Troopers helping Troopers"!
  6. No, but they will respond once the site opens up again on the 8th. The shipping is actually pretty fast and they have a fantastic reputation here so you are in good hands. When looking over their products, you may think you need to look in the "boots" area, but you should actually go to the "shoes" section. The ones you want are model 421.
  7. One thing you may want to do while you "hurry up and wait" for BBB (big brown box) day to arrive is to start getting your soft goods ordered. Having your boots on hand when fitting the calf armor will help a lot, and the same goes for your under suit when sizing up the other pieces. Many (if not most) of us now order the 421 style type from Imperial Boots (link here). They make them in "waves" about once a month, and I believe the next round opens up on Jan. 8th. If you decide to go with them, I would suggest ordering a size up from what you normally wear as they tend to run a bit small. Before ordering the other soft parts, be sure to check with your armorer. Some include certain items and some do not. For the ones you do need, I have a link here that will help.
  8. Looking GREAT Greg! SO glad to see you removed all the return edge from those tops! You'll be glad you did that... trust me.
  9. My main armor for trooping is AM, which I have had for over 5 years with no cracking or yellowing after 50+ troops. As for tools, I have a thread in the "Tutorials" area below (Supply list for your OT TK build) which lists everything you will need, the main ones being Lexan scissors (or tin-snips), a Dremel-type tool, razor knife and such and you don't have to get the expensive name-brand ones. Depending on where you are, (U.S.?) you can pick most them up really inexpensively from places like Harbor Freight (link here) or Northern Tools (link here) or even ebay. As for armor parties, they will be few and far between for a while, but you are encouraged to start a build thread here on the FISD. You can ask as many questions as you like and post up tons of photos. We are here to help every step of the way!
  10. As shown in the photos Glen supplies, the corners of both plates should be squared off and not rounded and have a slight gap between the edges and the top of the raised area below them (blue arrows). The yellow circles show approximately where the paint should end. As per the CRL for Level 3, the paint..." shall not extend beyond the bottom of the actual raised button". Using a round tipped (filbert style) brush will give you more control on the edges. Filbert brush
  11. Not sure about honorary mention, but there would be serious bragging rights!
  12. Tony (ukswrath) has an excellent post here of various vendors, which has links to everything you will need:]
  13. Troopers come in all shapes and sizes, Brandon. I have seen everything from 5'4 to 6' 5, and from 102 to over 250 lbs. We don't judge on size... it all comes down to how the armor fits you personally. From what I've read, George Lucas "preferred" the Troopers be about 5'10 and 165 pounds, but that didn't work out, lol. All that matters is that it meets the Basic requirements as listed in the CRL (link here).
  14. BUCKETS OFF to Alex (azoroes) TK 22504 of the German Garrison for being the latest addition to the rank of Centurion. Way to go, sir! Only 10 spots left, Troopers...
  15. Hi Alex, and thank you for your application for ANH Stunt Centurion! CRL and Centurion Application Requirements: All required photos have been submitted, and on behalf of the entire D.O. staff we are pleased to welcome you to the rank of CENTURION. Congratulations! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly; In this area we review observations made by your fellow troopers and the DO team. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armour. Note that we consider both text (CRL) and pictures (screen caps/reference images) when reviewing submissions. You did it brother! Just a few small details we hope you will address to make this armor one step closer to perfect: It is seen in your first photos, but in the last ones it appears that the white elastic loop has slipped off the shoulder bridge/back plate tab, causing it to ride up. Something to keep an eye on when suiting up. As noted before, your kidney plate flares out on the sides (photo 1). This is mostly apparent when seen from the front, especially on the right side (photo 2), and in looking at one of your EI photos (3) it actually overlaps the chest slightly. Reference image This is what I would suggest: Trim down the kidney on the right side. This means you would no longer have the "notch" at the bottom, but that is no longer a requirement for Level 3 so you are good to go. I would also add some strapping as seen in the second 2 photos below to keep things in place. In a perfect world the ab and kidney should meet up perfectly, but if there is a slight overlap it looks much better to have the ab overlapping the kidney and not the other way around. Reference images And that's it! All the work you did on those updates has paid off, so you are now officially part of the "Original 500" Troopers to reach Centurion. Gut gemacht, Alex, und mein Eimer geht an Sie, Sir!
  16. Those are looking fantastic, Wolfgang! Before cutting the backs, make sure that the cover strip will be located in the center of the rear just as you have it in the front and that it runs as vertical as possible. Assuming the area behind your hand is as shown with the blue line (yellow arrow), it looks as if the inside width is greater that the outside.... it may be the angle of the photo, though. Keep up the great work and keep those pics coming!
  17. Walt in indeed a great guy, has a sterling reputation here and is indeed on our vetted seller list. I too was not aware that he is now selling FOTK kits but I get the feeling they will be top-notch and am also looking forward to seeing a build thread and a set of finished armor!
  18. ¡Es un placer hermano! Espero que tengas una Navidad maravillosa (y segura) y gracias por todo el trabajo duro.
  19. CONGRATS to Daniel (Lord Q), TK 26306 for becoming our newest Centurion level Trooper! Way to go, sir!
  20. Hi Daniel , and thank you for your application for ANH Stunt Centurion! First, a big THANKS for all those fixes sir! We really do appreciate it when folks go that extra mile to make sure their armor looks it's very best, and you did a great job, so well done! All that being said, nothing to see in this area, brother. Congrats on making it into the "original 500" Centurion list!
  21. You are the MAN, Daniel! Those look great, brother, andI will be with ya' shortly sir. Thanks!
  22. I bought shoe stretcher spray like this, and I also keep a pair of these in my boots when not in use. (I let them dry out first, though).
