  1. Any luck with the updates on this, Wayne?
  2. Congrats on your 501st approval, Tim! Great looking set of armor there, sir, and now that you are an "Official" shiny white spaceman I hope you will consider (as Chemi mentioned) taking it to the next levels of screen accuracy! If this is something that interests you, we are here to help every step of the way! We also hope that you will continue to check in here on the boards when you have the chance to "pay it forward" and become part of our community!
  3. Sha Sha is a legend here on the FISD, so you have some big boots to fill! I have every faith that you will do her proud, sir!
  4. Thanks for the photos, Jacob! I have some good news/bad news, but nothing to worry about. The teeth came out spectacular, and the ab/kidney rivets are good to go, but unfortunately the lighting on the screws on your TD is a too dark. I'm sure they are fine, but can you post up one last really close up photo of them? Once that is done we can get going and get that badge under your name!
  5. Hi Richard, and thank you for your application for ESB Expert Infantry! CRL and EIB Application Requirements All required photos are now in and, after review, we are pleased to welcome you to EI! On behalf of the entire DO staff, congratulations!! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly In this area we review observations made by your fellow troopers and the DO team. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armor. Note that we consider both text (CRL) and pictures (screen caps/reference images) when reviewing submissions. First, SUPER nice job on this build, brother! I can tell that you are proud of this armor, and so you should be. Being a taller trooper, you really made it work, so kudos for that! Just a few items here that we feel could make it look even better. Not a deal breaker by any means, but your helmet is sitting a bit high. If you have any padding in the top, we are suggesting that you remove it to lower it. Note the height in the reference images. Reference image Reference image You got the corners squared off nicely on your small ab-button plate, but it could stand to come in a bit to where a little more of the raised base it sits on is seen. Reference images Just a quick dressing issue here... Your left calf is perfectly placed but the cover strip on the right one is a tad askew. In a perfect world the bottom of the seam should line up with the center of the heel. Reference images The boot style is perfect, but they seem to have a high gloss. Although that sheen matches the shininess of the armor, the originals were hand painted, so perhaps you could take it down to a matte (or even semi-gloss) finish. Reference images Centurion Requirements In this section we prepare you for Centurion. More photos may be requested in the future that allow us to make better decisions on possible adjustments. If there are any areas of concern they will be discussed here. Because Centurion photos show much more detail than EIB, items to pertaining to Centurion might be seen there and not here. We try to point out all that we can from what is seen, but the final accuracy is the responsibility of the trooper. As you are aware, we get a bit more precise for Level 3. Although not specifically mentioned in the CRL, the items below need to be fixed so that we can get that Centurion badge under you name! Quickest fix ever here: The brow trim is extending past the rear of the trap. As seen in the ESB reference photos, it sits WAY in front. I personally believe that since these were pretty much all recycled ANH buckets that the rubber shrank over the years. I honestly wouldn't take it back that far, but a quick trim will get you where you need to be. Reference images In looking at the ab button plates and frown, it's obvious that you have some mad paint skills, Richard! We are asking that you use them to tighten up a few areas- The lines around the ear bumps are a lot thicker than we like to see. The top of the one in the second pic shows exactly how the should ideally be. Reference images Last up, the silver weathering on your blaster is nice, but we are requesting that you add a few touch-ups of black in some areas. As seen in the highlighted areas, the paint has worn off and/or the rubber is showing through. EASY fix!!! Reference images And that's it! Again, a superb job on this armor, and with just a few issues to address we have faith that we will be seeing your Centurion submission soon. Well Done!
  6. Looking sharp, Jacob! Before we can move you along we need a simple fix and one more photo, sir. As per the CRL for Level 2, the screws for the TD must be the slotted type (flat or dome head). The ones you presently have are Philips "V" head. I would check out your local hardware store, but if you can't find the correct style I can mail you some (just pay postage). PM me if interested. Reference image Also, can you post up a close-up pic of your ab/kidney rivets? Thanks, and I look forward to seeing the results!
  7. OK, so the photo showing the wound is totally grotesque, and I LOVE it! The only thing missing is the black blast marks around it, and perhaps some blood splatters. You are definitely on the right track!
  8. I don't think you overdid it at all, and I think the black should stay ("weapon damage") but you need to add some more color. As per the CRL, it should be aged with drab olive green, dark yellow and hues in between. Remember that when blood dries, it turns brown, some some brown paint (tinged with a bit of red) should be good. I would suggest trying out some color schemes on a bicep or calf to test it out and then post some photos.
  9. What exactly do you need to know, Shanda? I'm pretty familiar with this armor and can probably help, but my buddy Charles (Templar 726) of the GA. Garrison has perhaps the best looking Deathtrooper I have ever seen! I've trooped with him while he was wearing this armor, and it's truly spectacular up close. You can find a link to his build here. If you have a particular issue, let us know, and posting up a few pics will help a lot!
  10. Hi Shanda! When you say Deathtrooper, do you mean this: or this: CRL link here CRL link here The first one (TK) we can help you with, as that is one of the costumes we deal with here on the FISD. If you mean the second one (TX), that costume is part of the Special Ops Detachment. I have provided a links to both of the CRLs for you. Hope this helps!
  11. The rear seam should be centered on the back of your leg, and be sure that you have an equal distance on both sides of the raised ridge at the bottom. As for the tops, I would advise against any points. The reason being is that they can/will poke into the rear of your leg while walking. Ouch. It's perfectly acceptable to trim them down as needed for comfort and mobility.
  12. No need to worry, Richard! You have an awesome set of armor there and should be well chuffed with the way it turned out. I will be working on your review over the next few days, so thanks in advance for your patience! Side note: FANTASTIC photos, sir! Many times when pics are submitted they are too small and we can't see the details, but yours are spot-on, so THANKS!
  13. Glen is spot-on. Posting a photo or two (or 3) really is worth a thousand words. I'm sure we can get you sorted out, but seeing what it looks like while you are wearing it will help us immensely.
  14. Moving along nicely, Aaron! You are doing the absolute right thing by posting lots of images and asking questions. If you keep this up, I guarantee you will end up with a spectacular set of armor, sir. As for the trimming on the sniper knee plate, this is what I would suggest: 1. Trim off ALL of the return edge on the bottom. Doing this will allow it to flex, fit snugly against the top of the shin and will help with positioning. Before gluing, I would post up a pic of it held on with blue tape. When trimming the sides, try not to have a sharp angle, but a slight curve. Sharp angles are where splits start. You NAILED the 45 degree angles on the ends of the ABS belt. NICE JOB! Your left side (second photo) drop box lines up spot on, with the outside edge lining up with the end of the ABS belt. The right side is a bit off, but this is easily remedied by positioning it where it should be and adding a dab of E-6000 behind the rear strap.
  15. Hi Shawn, and that is a fantastic looking set of armor! I'm not sure which of us will be reviewing your submission, but we will need you to do us a favor before we can move you along and get that EI badge under you name.. As per the CRL for Basic approval, "Frown is painted gray and does not leave the teeth area". You have a bit of work to remove some of the paint as shown below, but 15 minutes with some non-acetone paint remover, a few toothpicks and cotton swabs and you will be golden! Since you will need the points at the ends of the frown, I would highly suggest repainting all the teeth ( Humbrol # 5 or Testors # 1138) as the color would not match the original one Anovos used. Just take your time, use a quality brush, and you will done quicker than you think! (Keep the caffeine to a minimum beforehand, though ) We have faith in ya', sir, and as soon as you are done, post up some revised pics and we can get going!
  16. Welcome to Expert Infantry, Cody! You have a few issues, brother, but nothing that we can't help you take care of. Always feel free to ask us for any assistance you need... we are here for ya' and we hope to see you submission for Centurion soon!
  17. I may be jumping the gun, but before adding the rear cover strips to the thighs, it looks as if the amount of space is a bit uneven. As seen in the first pic, you have a LOT of room on the top of the left thigh top (the bottom looks perfect), but as seen in the second photo it looks kinda' tight. Ideally you should have the same gap on both, and it should fit not too tight or too loose. Also, the rear seam should run down the center of the rear of your leg. Before doing any final fitting/gluing it's always best to post up some more pics. Keep up the GREAT work, Matt... you are moving along in fine fashion!
  18. That is an excellent question, and one I've not heard yet! I am sure they make fabric dyes, but you may want to try a shoe whitener. It's made for leather of course, but it should work. I would do a test area on the back of the belt before tackling the front.
  19. Way to go, Natalie! Now the fun begins! If you haven't trooped before, I have a thread here that may be useful.
  20. What you have looks great, Alex. Part of the charm of ANH buckets is that were were all a little wonky in one way or another and your gaps are better than a lot of them!. As Glen mentioned, if you can get a tighter fit on the ear screws that would give you a much better look.
  21. CONGRATS on BBB day, Alex! As I mentioned before, ALWAYS feel free to ask any questions. No matter how small. The more the better!
  22. Looking SHARP, Mark! Kudos on the paint work, especially the ab-plate buttons a vocoder . Although it won't affect your submission for EI, you might want to think about extending the paint on the traps above the ears to fill in the indented area a little more.... Since you are a dab hand with a paintbrush this should be an easy fix! (It also wouldn't hurt to take a few mm off of the brow trim ends). Reference images
  23. AWESOME! Looking forward to seeing the updated pics, and congrats on the weight loss! My thread here goes over a lot of the areas we look for at different levels and has a ton of example pics.
  24. This may be easier than you think, Richard. Can you post up a pic showing a better profile of how the clip wraps around the TD and maybe a few other angles?
