  1. You are a better person than I am for using a heat gun, Christine! I tried it once on some scrap ABS, and let's just say the results were... uhh, unsuccessful. Speaking of which, if you know anyone that needs a kidney plate shaped like the state of Rhode Island, let me know..
  2. Absolutely. I have one of his sets and it is approvable all the way to Centurion status, which I hope you will be aiming for!
  3. If you mean the "classic" strapping system, I would go with either Darren's kit (http://mrnostripes.bigcartel.com/) or Trooperbay https://trooperbay.com/stormtrooper-sandtrooper-full-bracket-set. The cost on both is the same.
  4. Nothing wrong with being on a budget, Omar, but you pretty much get what you pay for. Especially when it comes to under-suits.
  5. Brian is absolutely correct, Bryon. I saved my bucket for last on my first build, as it gave me the chance to get better acquainted in working with ABS. The key to building a set of armor (including the bucket) is to take your time and not try to rush it. There are a LOT of great tutorials and build threads here, and we are always available for questions. AM is a great kit, and should last you a long, long time if taken care of.
  6. Looking sharp, Hubert! I can see by the many extra touches you have done (especially on those hovi-mic tips) that you are aiming for Centurion, and I think you are well on your way! Besides the black paint on the TD screws as Martyn mentioned, you will need to remove the white paint from the snap/rivet on the cod. Glad to see you went with the "double snap" method for your connections.. you won't be disappointed, trust me. See you at EIB soon!
  7. SInce AM does not make replacement pieces, I would check with ATA, Scott. I have ordered several replacement pieces for my AM armor from them... the quality and customer service are awesome!
  8. This is a great thread as well: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/tutorials/article/45-chookabooms-emergency-troop-kit/
  9. Most of the vendors here do not have websites, but you can contact AP directly via email: [email protected]
  10. You will need to load the photos on one by one to have them visible in this thread, Joachim. It is pretty easy to do with Photobucket, but if you need any help just PM me and I will help you out.
  11. Those are available here, Kyle: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/40706-fs-ukswraths-hovi-tip-screen/?p=544584 GREAT job on that build!!! See you at EIB soon, and then onto Centurion!
  12. Sorry hear about that, Josh, but you did the right thing
  13. Looks great! While waiting on your armor, you can get started on your pack build and order your pauldron and MP40 ammo packs. If I can be of any help, just PM me.
  14. Getting a set of AM calves may be a tall order, Quinn. Even when they were producing, they did not do replacement parts.. (believe me, I tried). They pulled (vaccu-formed) their entire kit at once. You might want to try AP, which makes larger calves. [email protected]
  15. We do not add someone to that area just because we don't like them, Jim. When someone is added to that particular list, it can be for several reasons. They may have taken payment and not delivered items (as in case of Josh, above), make a substandard item, or be a re-caster of other people's work, which is HIGHLY frowned upon. The armorers in our "vetted" section have spent countless hours perfecting their product and have a tried-and-true reputation, but some of the people on that list feel that they can copy it just to make money off of unsuspecting folks. Many of these people actually list on their sites "501st approvable.." or something of that nature. 99.9% of the time they are not.
  16. As Tim mentioned, I was mainly there to meet all the folks that I have been in touch with on the boards. I think I actually spent a total of 30 minutes on the con floor in total, mostly with Andrew as my guide showing me all the cool places he had scoped out the day before. The only bad experience I had was the line to get in on the first day. At 10:00 I was told the wait would be 4 to 6 hours, as it stretched farther than the eye could see (poor planning) so I headed home. $65.00 down the drain, LOL. I found out the next day that they opened more doors and just let everyone in at once. The highlights for me were the Staff breakfast, the Attache lunch (even though it took two hours), the photo shoots, working the 501st booths but most of all getting together with all of you! I was especially proud to be there for Tony and Andrew's "live" EIB submission and part of Paul's "pit-crew" for his Centurion submission.
  17. I think you have this nailed, Paul. BTW, those sweet looking hand guards are silicone.
  18. Do you have a link to their site? I personally have never heard of them before, but that doesn't mean they are necessarily bad. Your best bet is to purchase from one of the "vetted" armorers on our list: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11538-the-various-types-of-armor-and-where-to-find-them/ You should also check out this section: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/19329-where-what-and-whom-to-avoid-when-buying/
  19. Did anyone else notice that the ears specifically the middle part) are different sizes? I smell a recast.
  20. For can certainly go with the Doopydoos, but be prepared to "hurry up and wait". Shipping for these can take up to 7 weeks, but you will receive it. If you have a little extra, I would definitely go for T-jay's E-11 finishing kit which will take it to crazy accuracy: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/28444-fs-completion-sets-for-e-11-resin-kits-with-worldwide-insured-shipping-and-paypal/
  21. You can certainly switch out the hooks for Velcro, which is completely acceptable at Centurion level.
  22. If I'm not much mistaken, AM is on "hiatus" at the moment and not accepting any new orders.
  23. That extra space on the back side of the drop boxes is fine, Mike, and will be acceptable to Centurion level. (No one sees it anyway)! Great job on the trimming, but I would slightly round out those areas in the areas circled below. The reason being is that anytime you have a sharp angle like that it can lead to splitting. Keep up the great work!
  24. I haven't had any issues with my Anovos armor, but I've only worn it twice. A poll sounds like a great idea so we can compare notes and see which areas are prone to these problems, which could be pinned in the ANH build section. With this information, new folks can reinforce those areas during their build and avoid future issues. Better to be proactive rather than reactive.
