  1. Actually, there are 18 costumes that are under our "jurisdiction" Mike. The best way to study the differences (as Paul mentioned) is to take a look at each individual CRL (Costume Reference Library) here: http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:FISD_CRL This will give you a lot more details on each one to help you make your decision.
  2. Perfect job on the rivets and cover strip, (and thanks for the glove pic) but your ab button plate pics didn't come through.
  3. If you keep up this level of detail, I hope to see you applying for EI and Centurion after your approval!
  4. Wow, you beat me to it, sir. Looking SHARP!
  5. Looking good so far, Sven! PHENOMENAL job on painting those rear traps! In addition to the other suggestions, when you paint the tears try to make sure that the paint covers most of the recessed area as seen below:
  6. My pleasure, Eric, and a big CONGRATS on your approval! So when are we going to see your EI submission? (hint hint, nudge nudge).
  7. Jordan nailed it. Your GML may point out certain things that will get you to basic, but if you look over some of the approved Centurion submissions they will show you the finer details that while not specifically mentioned in the CRL are suggested and/or required for that level. Here is a link: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/66-fisd-centurion-program/
  8. Thank you for your EI submission, Jose! One of us will be with you shortly, but before we can proceed we will need you to make a few adjustments and post some new photos showing those, brother. They are as follows: 1. Could you post a close-up of at least one of your gloves? 2. The rivet on your thigh amo pack will need to be painted white. 3. The bottom part of your left ear is way too wide and will need to be trimmed. If you will note, in the photo you submitted the cut line is still there, and I would follow that. I would also recess the bottom ear screw on that side. Reference image 4. The cover strip on your left thigh is too long on both the top and bottom. It should be level with the thigh on top and should not go over the ridge on the bottom. Reference image 5. Both abbutton cover plates will need to be trimmed to match the ones seen below: Reference image There are a few other items, but I feel confident that you can get these done quickly so that we can move along on your submission and get you to level 2, Trooper!
  9. Actually, the crackling effect is 100% screen accurate, as that is what they did in the films. The reason they are bent in Centurion submissions is to show that they are indeed the flexible type.
  10. Removing the return edges on the top and bottom of the ab plate and trimming down the return edges on the kidney plate to about 1/4 inch will help when reshaping them. The reason so many pieces are hard to reshape is due to the fact that the return edges make this difficult and they tend to buckle. Here is a photo of a screen used ab with the edges removed. (The cod is missing, but you get the idea).
  11. Unless you are VERY familiar with a heat gun I would avoid it at all costs for reshaping armor. Most of them can reach temperatures of over a thousand degrees or more, which is way too hot for anyone not used to working with one. What parts do you need to re-shape? There are alternatives you can use for some pieces. Pics would definitely help.
  12. The sad thing is that Anovos is now selling their kits for $900.00 + shipping, which is insane considering you can get one made of thicker ABS for less from many of our vetted armorers in less than 4-6 weeks in many cases. For that price I would throw in another $50.00 and get an RS kit. Plus, the vetted sellers actually communicate! Yes, the Anovos helmet does come pre assembled, but is it really worth waiting a year (or more) in some cases for that? I think not. I do find it strange how much their prices have gone up, (I paid $400.00 for the Anovos kit I used for my Hero build just 2 years ago). I understand inflation, but it sounds like they are just getting greedy.
  13. When you say "..Trade his black ESB belt loops..", is he currently an ESB trooper? If so, the black loops are a requirement. If he is an ANH Stunt trooper, for everyday trooping the black should be fine, or as Q suggested they could be turned around if the backs are tan colored. There was at least one ANH trooper with black straps, (but then again there were troopers with no holster at all)... even though the color for the ANH-S straps is not specifically mentioned in the CRLs, it is not considered screen accurate.
  14. You didn't mention what part(s) of the thighs are tight, Ron. Have you removed all of the return edges from the tops? (If not, you should). Some detailed photos would be great. As Mathias mentioned, wider cover strips are way more preferable to return edges in the back. We understand that some troopers are larger than others, and that fact is taken into consideration when applying for EI and Centurion. While wider cover strips on the backs of the thighs is not exactly screen accurate, the width is not specifically mentioned in the CRL. As long as everything is uniform you should be good to go.
  15. My pleasure, Mark. Once you feel you are ready to submit to your GML for 501st approval, I would suggest posting a thread in the Request TK Pre-Approval thread located in the Advanced Tactics area, (it is down right now due to the server changeover but should be up shortly). This allows senior TKs to assist you with any fitment issues (we will be kind and helpful, I promise) as well as give you the chance to ask questions. In the meantime, please feel free to ask on this thread. We are here to help! P.S. Photos (especially detailed ones) are especially helpful. Sometimes a picture really is worth 1000 words.
  16. It's not a matter of the threads not being there, it's just accessing them directly seems to be the issue. For instance, when you try to open a the E-11 thread in the Weapons Locker, it says it is "...currently offline..", but here it is, completely accessible: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/32111-fisd-e-11-blaster-reference/
  17. I would suggest a few things, Mark.. If you have the room, I would bring your ab plate up if you can, as well as think about extending the white shoulder bridge elastic. This will help the chest piece come down, and along with raising the ab plate will help reduce the gap between them. Your biceps will also need to be raised to reduce that gap. If you can indeed raise the ab plate, I would raise the thighs a bit as well. Another thing I would highly suggest is ditching the Anovos cloth belt. Their holsters are fantastic, but their belts are flimsy and will sag. If you decide to do this, I would go with one of Rob's, which are not only heavy duty but custom made to your size: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/19803-fs-white-canvas-belts/ Keep the photos coming!
  18. You beat me to it, Tino! Honestly though, Ethan, his kits are awesome!
  19. I would avoid trimming the ab plate, Ryan. The chest plate and back plate can be trimmed, though. If you look at Luke's armor in the (photo 1) you will see that since he was "A little short for a Stormtrooper" they trimmed the bottom of the the chest (and the neck) and in the second photo it shows that the bottom of the back was cut down as well. Cricket has an incredible build thread for the "vertically challenged" that will help a lot, located here: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/38416-crickets-rs-stunt-build-for-the-vertically-challenged/?tab=comments#comment-514228 The left ab/kidney connection looks great from what I can see. The line runs vertical, and the rivets should line up just right (as seen on Luke in the third photo) so I would leave the ab plate alone. You will also see in the third pic that the return edge on the sides were trimmed. The right ab/kidney connection can overlap, (but can be trimmed). The important thing is that you don't have gaps. Keep up the great work!
  20. Still waiting for a few areas to come back online, ((Weapons locker, etc.) but I am sure that will be there soon. Looking forward to a faster speed! Many thanks for all your work on this, Eric!
  21. As long as there is no gap on either side you are golden!
  22. It looks as if you should be in good shape for EI, brother especially with all the things you changed/fixed. I would definitely adjust the belt length and make sure the left calf isn't twisted. Really nice job on the fixes... now that's dedication! Don't forget, you will have to have your FISD clearance before you apply, though. This can sometimes take a few days, so be patient.
  23. That is a pic of my buddy Jeff's armor (Tampa Bay Squad). Here is another (although I forget who's it is, lol).
  24. Way to go Jeff! As Tony mentioned, incredible job on that build sir, and definitely an accomplishment to be proud of!
  25. Just a heads up on fogging up... Take a small dab of foam style shave cream and (gently) rub in onto the inside of your lenses/visor. Let it dry for a few minutes and then rub it off with a clean dry cloth... no more fogging! As for the balaclava/skull cap, I use the skull cap on outdoor troops due to the heat and humidity, and a balaclava on indoor troops.
