  1. Looks good. a couple small daps of glue will ensure it doesn't come off or droop on you. With only a couple daps of glue, you could remove it in the future if needed.
  2. Great advice given by Jim. The front of the armor is where the cover strip measurements have to meet spec. The back can be as wide as needed for sizing. Get yourself a sharp utility knife (no the break-off blade types) and a metal yard stick for the score and snap method. Really helps with long straight cuts.
  3. ABS Expert Level Acquired.
  4. I too long for a Canadian Hyperfirm. Feel free to check out my drop boxes (with socks!) at Hamilton Comic Con. 2 more sleeps!
  5. That looks great! I'm sure others will use the lens install method you've shown clearly here.
  6. Nice! I'm sure others are going to use your solution, as the pulling strap has been an issue for most people for a long time. The legendary Brattie thread comes through again!
  7. The side strapping should pull in the sides slightly which might help the width sizing. You can definitely hot water bath the kidney and butt plates. The ab plate might not like it due to the complex curves in the piece ... and you want to keep those. Do your back and chest pieces fit ok for width? The fit looks soo much better btw!
  8. Wow. I can't imagine the amount of white dust. Amazing work though! It's a testament to show that you can save parts that were thought to be unfixable.
  9. I e6000'd the Velcro to the abs shoulder strap/bridge, and e6000'd the Velcro to the shoulder snap strap. The strap would probably be best sewn, but the glue is working well for me. I have limited access to a sewing machine.
  10. Michael nailed what needs to be tuned up. Looking Good!
  11. What if you glued the strap to your shoulder bridge? ... With the exception of where your snaps are, and where the shoulder bridge goes over the front&back plate and the strap goes under. I currently run this set up with the addition of Ind. Velcro (between the bridge and strap) so that I can remove the straps from the shoulder bridges if I want. It's successful.
  12. My bucket is AP and I have a old set of glasses (minus arms) mounted inside my bucket. They are bent a little to fit the contours of the helmet, and I have no issues with them. Full vision, no headaches.
  13. You're doing it right. Check out other AM build pics and then tape the pieces together for proper fit on your body.
  14. Lots of time and sanding will make those pieces look their best. If not, replacement parts are easily available. ABS artwork is a great skill to have for repairs, so you are well ahead of the game.
  15. Hey Christine, post some pics and we'll see what you got. I'd stay away from the heat gun as things can go wrong pretty fast with it, especially with larger pieces. The iron is your friend. A hot water bath too. But pics first might make things clearer. Return edges take time! PS Stay off the roof.
  16. Getting closer!
  17. Nice Pics. In the first photo, I'm the next trooper in line, staring right at the camera. For your bucket, moving your pads around sounds like a good plan. Maybe different thicknesses or locations of pads will help. Another option would be moving to a hard hat liner instead of pads, or in combination with pads. Moving the pads around is probably the simplest solution though.
  18. Hand wash and hang to dry is the safest. Neckseals are hand made items, and although they could probably handle a machine wash and dry, a hand wash and air dry should make them last longer. Christine's paintbrush, mineral spirits, and rag are a great method too.
  19. Sounds good. And, ABS is very troop friendly.
  20. Yes Paul, being out of production is a bit of an issue. There are many reputable vendors listed here on FISD; they'll all be better options. You've also got to choose what material you'd prefer. the kijiji add is HIPS. Are you looking for HIPS, or ABS? Regardless, check us out in Hamilton; there will be troopers of all sizes and from different vendors there.
