  1. All great advice. I'll add ... Add fans! ... and check that they work! Most of us have at least 2 fans in our helmets, and they help ... but I've seen, and experienced, fan failure. The week before a troop, check that your fans work, and move around the wiring and batteries that feed them. You might discover a failing wire or connection that will of course fail on the day of your troop. Check the fan positioning too; ensure they blow the air where you want, and check that they wont change position when your trooping. If you're fans aren't cutting it, try a different vendor, or double you fan count. You can also add fans to areas outside your helmet. I run two fans fed by a dedicated USB battery bank and switch under my chest plate, and the same setup under by back plate. Yes, I have fans that blow on my body! They don't get much fresh air supply, but they keep me going and trooping, con or outdoors. Give it a try!
  2. Hi Daniel and welcome aboard! Have a read in the “Getting Started-Read this First” section, as there is some really good info in there for new members. Then, have a read in “Costuming and Builds” section to discover other troopers who are building (or have built) the same armor as you! Really good tips, examples, pictures, previously answered questions, and successes here. In addition to looking at all the various build threads, I highly recommend checking out the “Advanced Tactics” section where you can see examples of those who have taken their armor to the next levels of screen accuracy (EIB and Centurion). I’d recommend that you aim to tweak your build to one of the certification levels, as TK’s look their best at these levels. It's really not hard to acquire EIB or Centurion. If, and when, you’re looking for other bits –and-pieces, accessories, boots, blasters, electronics, etc., be sure to check out the “Imperial Commissary” section for items for sale, project runs, and for other stuff that most of the troopers use. Also, make contact with your local Garrison (Canadian Garrison). They’ll help guide you through the process of becoming a member of the 501st, and may have local Armor Parties in the works where you can get hands-on build advice and guidance, not to mention meet members of your future Garrison. Take a long look at the CRL, and the build threads here on FISD; Go over your kit piece by piece and make a laundry list of required changes. You'll be trooping in no time! All the best on your TK journey!

  5. Yes, Aiden and I have already been in contact, and Aiden is now part of our Garrison's FB page for future members who are building costumes. FISD is THE resource for builds, but we are hoping a local FOTK will step up for specific assistance.

  8. Or, peel the cover strip off now, and hot water bath it to shape … then re-E6000 it to the calf.
