  1. I have photos of the AP forearms and I've used the inside buttseam method. you line up the inside part of the forearm at the wrist, and just let the seams matchup. if you've trimmed carefully off the original parts of the form, you can cut those into the buttseams that you need. I kept all my original trim parts with each piece to make the inner buttseam as a stronger base for my E6000 glue. here''s a few photos along the way lined up at the wrist ready for small strip of plastic from the trim on the inside. from above, lined up at the wrist. end view hope this helps. I"ll have photos up of the finished versions for your review. vern Troopers helping troopers!
  2. When my glue is dry and my latex gloves arrive from england, I'll be putting my Armor Pics in for ANH hero EIB! woot.
  3. those sewn plates look like too many holes... in ESB there are only holes in for the front middle finger, and at the back for the wrist. don't put that many holes in it!
  4. I have finally installed the Bubble Lenses and I must say that the seller has a product here that can fit AP, MRCE and other kits quite well. The Thickness of the Lense as compared with the lenses inside the MRCE is like comparing paper to cardboard in thickness. These Thick 3mm lenses have made a great install inside my MRCE bucket. With the screw points in the MRCE I installed the lenses with aluminum washers. the lenses had to be pre-drilled with a 1/16th bit and milled with a dremel milling bit. the dremel milling bit has been my most used tool. I have included some photos of the install. The seller added several buttons, a refrigerator magnet, and some postcards to the pack. I also got a really cool surprise gift. a set of Green Bubble Lenses as an "example" of their green versions... they sent me 2 of the same eye as a green example. If anyone ever needed a good Bubble lens... this is a great product to try out. I like the flat part right near the center... it really helps make the lenses clear to see with.
  5. I have photos and can show you that I'm in the exact same position as you are with these parts.... and I can show you how I'm fitting them WITHOUT using an iron for forming parts that are not needed to form.
  6. AP forearms should be Trimmed with NO return. The original parts were designed to overlap on one side with velcro. the top side being butt mated and glued. the finishing strips cover over the seam. hope this helps. my AP kit Build tutorial coming soon.
  7. It actually looks better with the unwethered parts on with the other ones... it gives it that totally contrasted look. I think After seeing your scope, I'm going to chip off more black paint to allow the brass to show through... great looking blaster.
  8. I'm working on an AP hero style build! so I'm right behind you guys!
  9. These Look Great. I'm gonna go with these! they look better than underarmor since they are all weather type of fabric...
  10. I would also like to add that the Thermal Detonator seems to hang a little too low.. the clips should not be seen above the belt! hope that helps! regards vern
  11. My D ring mod. I guess you'd call this the Above and beyond mod! D Ring, and e-11 mods I carefully used a dremel and cut off the original D ring cast into the resin. my resin copy had a D ring that was carefully sculpted to be raised a lot more than some other cast rings I've seen before. I used a tan cutting/sanding wheel. The D ring I used comes with a locking nut that threads onto both sides. I screwed the locking nut all the way open and cut off the exposed threads. Then I unscrewed the locking nut almost off. then I cut off the other threaded side leaving about 2-3 threads for a bite on each side. I pre drilled with the smallest bit, about 1/16th inch all the way through the mount then I milled with a milling bit the correct size and depth about 2/16ths wide and about 1/8" deep. Then I bent the Ring outwards just enough to fit one side in. and then fit the other side in... and compressed the ring sideways until it matched it's original shape. pressing inwards towards the center of the ring. hope this little Mod inspires you all to get out that dremel again! regards, vern
  12. Woah! take a look at these! you can find more pics go to the blog
  13. matthew, hey bro... when I look at the spine in the original pic it's following an S curve, almost like 1/2 of a human spine... each element is segmented, and moves... from your pics it looks like the spine you're working on is flat. is that just for the molding process? Great build by the way.. you're the droideka master! regards, vern
  14. I'm looking at my ABS left over from trimming out this AP kit. These should heat up in the oven quite well. now to find a form to use. I'm thinking that I should add the shims to the kidney plate from the rear. elastic on the sides with "false rivets" in the rear, allowing it to expand on both sides. any thoughts?
  15. I have to chime in... this man has set the bar high! Stunned!
  16. as soon as I saw this when it aired back in the day.. I thought it was a sign that JIM HENSON's ideas had penetrated GL's head... then I knew it would produce somthing like lame wookie family oriented stuff... THEN THE EWOK! and finally THE GUNGAN! ok... even if you make it to puppet senator... you still look better frozen in carbonite I tried to watch it again on youtube... and I stopped it at the very beginning. could not even make it past the wookie rendering, and the kid eating a piece of jerky was about where I hit the stop button. regards
  17. where did you get the helmet bro!
  18. My AP Ab plate is warped like that as well! looks like it could be from the original, you can see the crease on the right hand diagonal form right above the belt.
  19. How About the final trim under the helmet? do you just make the junction of the ears, and face and back cap's a smooth round cut? I can see on some of the photos you have a more rounded bottom on the trimout. regards
  20. Greedo was not defenseless... Han shot first under gunpoint. and he knew he had some kind of price on his head!
  21. Hey guys! This thread is a great example of good and simple thinking. this idea is exactly how AA trims and assembles SDS armor. I've seen it on the DVD's he puts out. They grate up ABS and mix it with "a solvent" AA keeps little cone tipped applicators to glue his parts together with this. thanks for the great tip! vern
  22. Ah... the wonderful smell of CA boots reminds me of napalm in the morning... you should smell 10 troopers in a small room... it's like being at the CA boot factory. I wonder if CA boots people come home and just smother themselves in burgers and onions just to get the smell off! heheh
  23. I'd be interested if it had 11 rows?
  24. can anyone say Bubbled? green?
