  1. I've seen several threads dealing with gloves. There are so many options out there and I know already that SO MANY gloves can "pass", and I see many MANY people saying what kind of gloves they have and use. Anyone want to go into DETAIL about WHY they use the glove they use. It would be GREAT if a WHOLE LOTTA people chimed in, however, it would be awesome if you have tried a different type of glove before so you can say that you have something to compare it with. As it is now I've been going through the "test fitting" of my TK armor and I have notice that sweat IS a FACTOR. I live in San Antonio Texas so the weather is mostly gonna be HOT. I did the test fitting IN MY HOUSE with the AC on, and when I removed it I notice the moisture on the inside of my shin and thigh armor and of course on the gloves I was using. ----------- ( Grease Monkey Model # 23404 Internet # 202188319 Store SKU # 566173 , I added the other info in here JUST IN CASE the link gets bad so others could find them) I HAVE read the CRl where it states : " Black in color, made of either rubber, nomex, leather, or leather-like material, with no visible straps or logos/designs. The fingers are enclosed, non-textured " I am not sure but wanted to BE SURE when I ask if I'm understanding this correctly. Is it that the FINGERS are non-textured, or the whole glove. If it's the WHOLE glove, INCLUDING the fingers then I'm gonna have to keep looking. Thank You for any input... Dan - EDIT - I was curious as if not the above, how about these, but they too have the same textured fingers ? Would both be OK for BASIC approval ? ------------ ( Grease Monkey Model # 25053-030 Internet # 202709681 Store SKU # 648673 )
  2. So this is it... http://imperialboots.com/products/chaussure/ Is $118.00 including shipping to the US considered to be a "good" price for boots ? Thank You, Dan
  3. Can I ask how you got the glasses in there. What you used for the frames (Old Frames ?) and how they are mounted. ALL MY LIFE my glasses have been a PAIN for me in more ways than one, and now, after so long without caring anymore, they are haunting me again... Thank You, Dan
  4. So it's about that time for me... I've got just about to the point where I'm TRYING to put my glasses on then putting on the helmet and it NOT going so well. IF ANYONE has seen another post on this topic, PLEASE put a link below as I am about at my wits end... OK, so for me that not a long way to go but still... Grin... Dan
  5. How did it work out ? Any links to the Videos ? Dan
  6. COOLNESS ! Dan
  7. Did you by any chance ever find out if they have ANYTHING like it at Home Depot or Lowes. I HAVE looked myself and even asked a few at each place, and they are always wanting to send me to weather stripping... And none of it even comes close... Thanks, Dan
  8. LOVE that you posted the inside as well as the A W E S O M E outside... Seeing how others store / transport their stuff gives me ideas on how to do it myself... Dan
  9. D U D E !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nuff Said !!! Dan
  10. Sometimes I wonder how it is that I've been on here for a few months and THOUGHT I've seen everything from days gone by about the boots, and am JUST NOW seeing this... While looking for TD CLIPS !!! Hahahahahahahaha (Can't help it, I have several tabs opened right now and each one leads to at least two or three more) Grin...
  11. I like this... I ordered from Eastbay and when I got them they just sat in the box for a couple of months. Time was not available to work on armor most less try on stuff on the road. When I opened them i SAW the long line in them and KNEW they would not work. Now I know where to go... And NO, it's NOT where my wife tells me either !!! Grin... Dan
  12. I have both Tandy and Walmart Snaps on mine. Sometime when I get home at 9:30-10:00 and THNK I might have a few minuets to work on it, Tandy is not open ! Grin (Even though I'd prefer to use a Ace or Tru Value Mom and Pop shop) Dan
  13. Remember NOT to clean up EVERYTHING all the way. When I was a kid I had a GREAT party that was talked about in school for a few months after the fact, but I cleaned up SO WELL, that my folks busted me telling me the house was NEVER that clean ! Leave some Ewok droppings laying around or something...
  14. RE-reading this again, and I like the term "measurements are mere approximations" That makes it SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much easier on the ulcer I think I'm getting ! Grin... Dan
  15. I like this... Just in case I need replacements... And I'm not sure where it's at and all but I'm having BIG problem on getting my aerators / hovi tips in properly, or where IT LOOKS RIGHT !!! I'm still looking but this is good JUST IN CASE I need to redo them. Dan
  16. It DOES help... I've seen stuff about lens fogging and all and I've been thinking on this for a while. I am a certified Scuba Diver and was thinking of trying out "Divers Spit" or several other diver type anti fog solutions to see if they would work or not. I'm sure that the fans will go in anyway, because I do live in Texas and it kinda gets hot here ! Grin... As for your environmental hearing, is it the same as the kits from Radio Shack ? ------------ If you have the time to post some images that would be cool. Thank You for sharing... Dan
  17. LOVE IT !!! OH Yes, I have seen LOTS and LOTS of thread builds on Helmets and the ideas are a bit overwhelming and all but I STILL wanted to see more. It's kinda like a math question sometimes for me... What I mean is, you can ask the same question to 5 people and get the same answer, but if you ask them HOW they got to the answer, that is where it might be different. I 100% LOVE the ears on your Helmet, so tight in on the bucket itself and CLEAN ! (I am SOOOOOOOOOO having problems with mine) and then when I got to the other image and SAW the wires going into it from the inside, I KNEW that some COOL STUFF was gonna be on the outside !!! That's where the mic's are located at (One on each ear.) I have already got this one ---------------and am going to (someday, Grin) start to work on it, but I 100% think how you got yours installed is AWESOME !!! Can you tell me if you did this AFTER you were approved or were they installed before you were approved and you were still able to be ok to get in ? Thank You Again for sharing... Dan
  18. OK, so I know that allot people here have more than one helmet. Shoot I even KNOW a guy who has like 20+ costumes here in the 501st. Anyway, I understand that FANS are a must (for most) and same as some sort of Comm system and while I DO want to know about and see pictures of that as well, I'm going for a more specific area here. I want to know about what works for you and WHY as far as your helmet padding / suspension system (Grin). What I'm looking for is from the people who have more than one who have tried out DIFFERENT systems. I've been told that padding / cushions in helmets make it hotter because there is less room in the bucket for fans, but I've also been told that more cushion (nope not gonna say it) is better insulation... I'm in Texas. I KNOW I'm gonna install a fan or two (or more) But with an AM Kit it already comes with a Hard Hat liner type suspension. MUCH better than this one but it was a quick access for me : http://www.amazon.com/Custom-Fit-Welding-Helmet-Replacement-Headgear/dp/B004F7MYXK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1426724975&sr=8-1&keywords=helmet+liner+replacement And I've seen other using padding like this : (again quick access) http://www.amazon.com/Universal-Baseball-Helmet-Softball-Included/dp/B00DGFBIEI/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1426725011&sr=8-2&keywords=helmet+padding But I want to know if you have tried other things, and if so, WHY you use the system you use now ? Thanks for taking Your Time to do this. It really DOES help... Dan
  19. I've looked at the links and even the ebay ones (even though I THINK I read somewhere -grin- not to buy stuff on ebay) and am thinking this is cool. However, Radio Shack, Mouser and a few other electronic type business I know of, the prices are a bit up there. I am looking into it, but has anyone seen ANY other things like this in a bucket. ANYTHING "different". So far I've seen Fans, seen speakers inside with the mic's located inside as well but the area that picks up the sound just barely poking out of the sides above the ears, and I've seen wireless mic's that are directed to "x" sound system mounted in the chest plate ? Anything else with that cool factor ? Thanks, Dan
  20. I like this way this is going... Dan
  21. WOW !!! Sometimes things just seem SO intimidating... This is where I (like many others) ask when ya gonna sell'em ? I know that others do, but yours have that COOLNESS factor of being home made ! Dan
  22. So glad this thread is here... I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO gonna use the paint stick clamp methods... Dan
  23. I can't say it enough, I LOVE it when the ears are so tight ! I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO far away from that, a Trooper MIGHT even be able to shoot THROUGH the gap ! Great job, Dan
  24. I've got these downloaded and ready to print. I'm thinking I could use a regular Avery sicker of the proper length (if I can find one) and place the printed one's over that label, and then cut them from there... I believe these were printed with WORD, but I'm gonna try Wordpad sense most PC's come with it free... Dan
  25. It DOES look great and yes I know this is an old thread but I still need to ask, do you remember what it was EXACTLY to the main board / motherboard of your Hasbro to give it more power to the LED ? Is there a link to that AND to the template to drill out the barrel ? I will look of course, but as it is now I'm going through looking at stuff TOTALLY different and somehow or another I end up here... Grin... My concentration levels ARE NOT good ! Grin... Thanks, Dan
