Welcome to FISD Vinny, looks like you are in good hands here already. -
Our pleasure to assist where we can AB Our pleasure to assist where we can AB. I believe you have every reason to be concerned, R1 team where very proud of how they evolved the new gen style kit specially to meet the needs of high definition filmography. I am reasonably positive we would have found information by now if there were old school TK kits used, as even behind the scenes imagery shows crew in New gen style kit. They have quite distinctive elements that set them apart easily when you can look at them side by side. As Chris mentions, provenance is always a good indicator of legitimate items when it comes to movie props, so if they can supply any, it gives us another step off point to further investigate. I will add that maybe just maybe it could have been someone in the background, or even in a scene that was deleted so ended up on the cutting room floor, but Shepperton Design had nothing to do with the new armour, and AA is a dubious individual as well. Lost a court case on his claims in the US courts, but somehow managed to weasel out of it in the UK. Not a vendor we recommend or promote as his armour isn't as accurate as others available.

Maybe you could have simply edited it rather than point it out and derail the post

Welcome to FISD ED! Rubber gloves are generally only for higher levels of approval, many wear NOMEX gloves for trooping instead which are fine for basic 501st approval. As to sizing, yes you can indeed mod your armour to improve walking. Mobility cuts on the rear similar to what they actually did for the films is definitely permissible, but if parts are too long then you can trim them down. Thighs you would trim from the top, Calves you would trim from the bottom if that makes sense. Perhaps if you can add some photos we can give some better advice as well, but check out this gallery below Bubble lenses are notoriously difficult to see through with little are to focus through, which is par for the course with Hero TK buckets in general. Stunt lenses are easier for sure. you mention keeping the colour the same, but what i can tell you from experience is ABS does change colour from batch to batch even from the same producer, so there is no guarantee the next SDS helmet will be a match unless it is made from the same batch of plastic.

Greetings all We have a competition running to design a new forum banner that sits atop of our forums. Some bragging rights for the lucky winner, but see full details in below link.

Welcome to FISD Thomas, looks like you are on your way to becoming one of us! Look forward to seeing your build thread and eventual approval as a TK.

You are doing an excellent job on this build Daryl, the finish line is drawing closer, so keep up the stellar work

Thanks for the update Mike, greatly appreciated.

Welcome to FISD AB To my knowledge, all the TK's in R1 were production made, with parts from resin and urethane materials, as opposed to the standard ABS used on original trilogy armour.

A quick "Hello" from a shiny new TK in Ottawa

Congratulations and welcome aboard Mark! -
The issue was actually with a member wanting to have plates on the boots like Phasma, due to how a passage was written, not the actual Black series reference we have and that the LMO's were satisfied to proceed with. That from memory is the last I heard of it.
-
I wish we could say we were Mike, but we can’t have a CRL with no images. There were two members building these and some discussion around the boots which was a minor issue due to lack of references but that’s pretty much where it has ground to a holt.
-
Unfortunate about your Bicep Chris but you are making huge headway and your build is looking great.

We have never dumbed down a CRL to suit one manufacturer, so to dumb down a CRL now because of one. Lets look at the optics on that, it could look like a spit in the eye for the 400 that came before, and I can't help but feel, that is not a great path to take. Everyone has had to do some form of filling work on FOTK's and DN is for cos players in general, no where is it stated 501st approved. Our CRL is what sets us apart from other costuming clubs who have a lesser standard than the Legion, start taking those elements away and we look the same. That indeed would be a shame for everyone that is already approved, took the time to make their costume fantastic and more accurate than the average punter. For us to then give a hall pass on a maker for their less than accurate cos play costume just seems like a drop in standards at the basic level. Building any set of armour is a challenge, you go into it doing your research and there are no surprises. As I mentioned earlier, ou want a CRL for Disney parks version and animated version, then we can certainly discuss how those would look, but they should not interfere with a CRL built around as seen on screen in the movies. Those seems are only cannon to a cartoon and a Disney parks costume and in reality, should be separate to Saga based as we have done in the past.

Greetings all We have officially opened a new sub section of our 3D parts and Technical forums specifically for 3D Resin printers. The print volume of these continues to get bigger and better as the pricing becomes more affordable. If you own one, please share your experiences with the greater membership, makes models best resin you have used etc. These printers are renowned for very clean finishes with a lot less clean up required for a brilliant finish for your favorite blaster, accessory or even helmet. https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/256-new-3d-resin-printers/

Welcome to the newest section in our Armory! As we see the popularity of Resin printers increase, and the price coming down while print platform size get bigger, we thought it was an ideal time to dedicate a sub forum to those who use and have experience with them. If you have experience and you believe it can benefit other members, please use this sections to discuss. With the ever growing print size of some of these, blasters and other accesories in a lot less pieces are being realised. This is awesome for our hobby, means little to no clean up, and better looking props for everyone. Tell us what make and models you have, your experiences with the printers and different resin and help us grow this fantastic community.
