Icomm voice recognition triggering under control
aliens8us replied to TKedt's topic in Electronics for Helmets / Blasters
Thank you. I'm definitely going to contact Jim. I'm going to purchase a replacement battery first before I'll send in my iComm unit. I'm more disappointed that I've only had it for exactly 12 months and having this issue. I'm hoping it's just a simple battery issue, because that's only $5 -
Icomm voice recognition triggering under control
aliens8us replied to TKedt's topic in Electronics for Helmets / Blasters
Okay it looks like the iComm just simply does not want to cooperate with me anymore. I'm sorely disappointed that it's giving me this same issue. The tape around the microphone except for the front still doesn't work. It's got to be the input from the microphone. It's not the output to the speaker. I'm going to have to mail this thing back and have it looked at or replaced. -
Icomm voice recognition triggering under control
aliens8us replied to TKedt's topic in Electronics for Helmets / Blasters
For those who has had or having issues with their iComm. On the FISD I followed the suggestion of this trooper who was having the exact same issue I had. Constant static burst. Or 'turrets'as another trooper eloquently put it, LOL! I removed the microphone cover and cut small strips of duct tape to cover the microphone. Not the front mind you, just the back and the sides. Placed the cover back on, installed the iComm back in the helmet, powered on the Aker speaker. I started the volume low at first and worked fine. Turned on the helmet fans and raised the volume. Speaking into the microphone with static burst worked as it should. We'll see on the next troop. But as of right now, it works as it should! -
As a HWT in the Ohio Garrison, Id be interested in one or two. I think maybe either the FISD logo or the 501st legion logo would be sufficient. Or maybe a DLT-19 and the MPTL crossed with a TK helmet below?

Icomm voice recognition triggering under control
aliens8us replied to TKedt's topic in Electronics for Helmets / Blasters
As of right now, I'd say it's about 11 months old. And it does the constant feedback clicks. But I'm going to try wrapping the microphone itself with tape, and then putting the cover on it; saw that done on a another trooper -
Quality of AP accessories?
aliens8us replied to drunken hutt's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
I got everything from AP except for the visor and mic tips, and neck seal, which I got from Trooperbay. -
I have industrial strength velcro on the back of the iComm and attached it to the fan system of Echo's. The Aker speaker is worn on my neck that sits beneath the chestplate

I'm looking forward to receiving mine from you guys next month (or December)! I'll be writing a review here once received!

Cmon guys, if I can build a HWT Pack for less than $50, you can as well. Trust me, look at Ukswrath HWT pack list. You will need the same oil can, and all the boxes are Tupperware I got from Walmart. Baby wipes box for the top left box. Read my previous reply for the materials I used. If you specifically need assistance, give me or Ukswrath a PM

Great topic guys. It just happens that me and my neighbors brother are working on the same project. I purchased a decommissioned Sterling at a gun Show which had to be welded back together after being put through degreaser several times. Im using my backup Hasbro wiring and sound card to be placed inside. I still have to cut the magazine to the correct size. Working on it to work as a loading compartment for AA batteries.

bucket painting saftey concerns
aliens8us replied to n1nthcloud's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
This is a great topic to bring up. I have seen a couple TK helmets with painted insides and look great but that concern is a great point. As it looks cool and looks tactical, I won't do it. Having some light inside the helmet makes it less claustrophobic. -
I was at a 'social class' kind of shopping center at a book signing and a mother asked me if I was the White Ranger (from Power Rangers). Perhaps being a Heavy Weapons Trooper with a DLT-19 is a dead giveaway

The pack construction is fairly easy to accomplish. As for your containers, all can be purchased at Dollar Tree and Walmart. The photobox/radio you can find at Pat Catans
-
Half my containers came from the Tupperware area from Walmart and the other from Dollar Tree. Baby Wipes container for the top right box is perfect. You can get your Radio Box (Photo Box) from Michael's for about less than $10. The antenna from Autozone (or Walmart). Your tube and caps from Lowe's or Home Depot. I used 1' blinds for the 'vents'. For Radio dials I used Gatorade caps. The center cylinder is a hand wipes container from Dollar Tree. As well as the center bottom cylinder; 2 different cups from Dollar Tree. The cap on top of those cups is a Pepsi/Coke 2 liter bottle cap. If you need assistance send me a PM as well, as my pack is based off of Ukswrath as well

Goo Gone, which you can get at Dollar Tree, works pretty good for me on removing paint

Oh wow Toybiz. You're right! Luckily my friend ordered this for me as a Birthday/Christmas gift. But I was still under the impression of the original price! Diamondprops, would have been nice for us who were interested. Dang..

If you see any armor for sale on eBay for $200 you need to stay away, far away. There's a warning here on the forum in reference to reputable vendors and armor for sale on eBay. As for ideas for your Stormtrooper, I'm going to suggest the elite group, Heavy Weapons Trooper! We bring the pain, and bring it heavy!

Are you planning on selling them here on FISD? Because I would buy one!
-
I think I used black particle paper from Jo-Ann fabrics
-
HWT is the way to go. I mean come on! We look badass! And our packs are easier and cheaper to build!

AM 2.0 Armor Build in Ohio
aliens8us replied to rduda's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Where in OH are you? Make sure to register and join the Ohio Garrison. This is your first step towards acceptance into the 501st Legion. I'm the Events Coordinator for the North region of the Ohio Garrison and could be in your area if you need assistance. I'm 20 minutes East of Cleveland. -
I have an AP TK that I've had for less than a year now and been on about 25 or so troops. My left shoulder strap snapped in half and I have applied E-6000 and a 2-part epoxy I have temporarily fixed. I believe it became weakened because of the straps of my HWT Pack were actual pack straps from my combat pack from the Marines, and then being in storage. So I replaced the pack straps with 2' nylon strapping with a buckle that can be placed on my chest. Luckily the MP40 magazine pouch hides the visible crack/fix. Ive sent a PM to Mark at AP but no response yet. Where else can I get replacement shoulder straps for my chest plate?

Icomm voice recognition triggering under control
aliens8us replied to TKedt's topic in Electronics for Helmets / Blasters
Well, not this time. I tried using the iComm yesterday for a Buddy Walk. During the time while waiting and mingling, the iComm was fine. After walking for 5 minutes, the static burst became constant every 2 seconds. Turned it off. Today, I armored up for a mini convention today, as soon as I turned it on, same thing! I even turned off my fans in my helmet. The speaker was fully charged. So I don't know what is wrong with it. Can I send it in to have it looked at? -
Icomm voice recognition triggering under control

It seems like that did the trick! I put roughly 2 pieces of duct tape on the back side of the microphone. I attended a parade in which was only a mile, but in armor for 2 or 3 hours. And no problem! No more cutting me off or on/off erratically.
