Crap, you mean I should be taken my bucket off before painting?
  3. Open to all detachment members (501st TK's) http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=777
  4. Can you believe it takes a whole page of comments? ----------
  5. It was about as unnecessary an addition as having Greedo shoot first.
  6. Nice? More than nice! You even got the cap in the eyes look right.

No my Floridian friend...however Uncle Palpy is having trouble with the printer. Something about "PC load letter". Several have gone to assist, none have returned.

I see Ed is already starting to act like the next DL. Mmmm...what to do with my ambitious apprentice...what to do... ----------
  9. I found out that: 1) If you really need to, you can figure out how to fit in the bus' toilet in armor and pee (I and several others went before we got off the bus) 2) If you're really tired, you'll find a way to sit in armor. Everyone did on the ride home.
  10. 1) When I last did a bulk update you were not in the database or else the email address you use for these boards is not the same as the one in your Legion records. 2) If you were missed in the above operation, you have not asked for an update with a pointer to your Legion record, as noted in the following posts: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=7 http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=595
  11. It's against detachment policy to publicly discuss vendors / where to get armor on the open boards. If you wish to identify a vendor directly it's best to do it in the 501st only area.
  12. The ARC helmet I have. The AP bucket I just dump in the same bin as my armor, but the ARC and my TE2 TK I prefer to transport in their own container.
  13. I got mine from Jason (TK1375). Personally I think they're pretty cool and can confirm that they'll even fit an EPII bucket (C6 in this case). (yes, I'm going to add a hard bottom as an extra precaution). I'll never forget my bucket again. Yup, there is a space left open on my TK bag for an FISD patch. Even the DL has to get in line for these like everyone else - no favoritism allowed.
  14. Hey Chris, I think that's the majority opinion - e.g. strive to be the best you can, strive to help others be the best they can, but always be respectful of others' choices wrt to their costume. It's a club after all and meant to be fun. I'd like to think that the majority of TK's are in that mindset. It's great to have pride in your costume, but neither acceptable nor cool to look down at others for declining to make the same choices. I can't speak for everyone, but I'm certain that if there has been any vibe of elitism it's been accidental/unintentional. We're all brother stormtroopers here, regardless of armor make. I'd like to point out that the recently adopted deployment standards have no requirement that can't be obtained using an FX kit, and that this was an intended decision on our part.
  15. That's great news that they're updating their molds. As you noted the oversized trooper is a tough fit.
  16. Thanks V'Pier - worked for me.
  17. OK guys, here's the scoop. One of the administrative security settings is to create something called a "stronghold cookie". This is geographically based so it makes stealing your cookie almost impossible. This is set to "true" on these boards as well as CTN and I suspect BSN as well (since it's using the same software / shares admins). So the choice is this: leave it as is (which is an inconvenience but more secure) or weaken board security. Post your opinions below. I'll talk it over with V'Pier and Army Scout.
  18. --Whistles-- I see what you mean.
  19. I pinged RT about this. Part of the price increase is the US dollar falling and he's not US-based. Still, the price was IMHO cheaper than getting an FX kit and upgrading the bucket (which most people do anyway). Didn't talk much about lead times, but as noted like many this isn't his full time job. Unless it was over two months (and yes, I've waited that long for clone armor), it wouldn't seem that long a wait.
  20. I notice it only happens when I shift from one computer to another, e.g. from home to work and back home again. As long as I stay on the same computer, no problem. Is that consistent with anyone else?
  21. Perhaps it's just catching the ANH vendors off guard. I heard FX produces something like 50 sets a month, but for most armor makers (even clone armor) it's a side business. If there is a rapid trend away from FX, I can understand how they could get swamped. That said, it just adds more encouragement for others to start up. There are more choices now than there used to be. Heck, it seems every few months someone new is offering clone armor. ;-)
  22. The biggest factor is as Seth put it "something better became easier to get". And right now "better than FX" is not that hard to get nor that much more $$, and keeps getting easier and more cost effective each year. Yup the FX looks good in the photo but this guy is 6'3". And even then the chest still comes down too far. Unless you have a good amount of height the amount of work to get FX to look passable (not right, we're talking passable) on a person can be more than simply getting more accurate (ANH sized) armor to begin with. Would you let in a DP now? No, because why should you when FX is better and easy to get. We're moving to the point where better than FX is as easy to get. Unless of course, you're over 6'0" On a somewhat related note I have some sympathy for black hole troopers. They are few and far between so it's not like there are a lot of troopers in "better" armor to be compared too, and the only kits that come in black ABS are FX. That said, I bet if a few dedicated souls started getting ANH sized suits & painting them, or at least upgrading buckets, there would be more pressure in that area.
