The groups have been reviewed and these boards updated. Please review your status: if you are a detachment member (501st *AND* a TK) you should see the detachment member's only area, and be labeled as a 501st Trooper instead of a 510st Member.

Doh! !0 weeks guys - shirts can go on sale in 10 weeks. I'm certain Ed will be busy between now and then

Excellent work Ed! I'm sure Skaught will be very happy to get a new email from you ;-) -- added the word "sure" after "I'm"

ROTJ bucket from LFL molds
Daetrin replied to javamonkey's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
It's a fantastic contribution to the world of stormtroopers. ROTJ configurations are pretty rare - I'm sure this will help convince some to take the plunge -
Hey all - just a note that John's dad died yesterday and he'll be offline for a bit. His apologies to those who he owes work to. John - please accept my sincerest condolences - if there's anything you need just let me know!

I'm surprised in all this time, no one has tried to do a sculpt for a different body type. The have been five different clone armors with two more on the way each (or most) using a different body size target, yet for TK the choices are suits tracing back to that ROTJ, FX, and now TM (if you can get it). Why no suits based off of a 6'2" 220lb model?

Thanks for remembering that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Good catch Steve!

------------ All buttons should be (grey | silver | blue - we really need to lock this down at some point), except for three black buttons: 1. Bottom-most on the right and left columns 2. The single button on the center column Someone correct me if I'm wrong - it's very hard to tell on the screen caps I have.

<DL Hat> A helmet shouldn't be excluded for size alone. If someone took an ANH helmet, laser scanned it, upsized it by 10% or so and did a run, as long as it looked proportional on a 6'2" trooper, shouldn't it be allowed? If someone looks bobble-headed (e.g. think of same perfectly upsized helmet on someone who is 5'2") this is an overall costume dimension issue and their acceptance to the Legion should be up to their GML or ultimately the LMO. All other costume dimension issues work the same way (e.g. if I were to try to do a 5'11" Vader with some of the parts made for the 6'6" Vaders). If there is a call for vote & second to ban FX specifically from deployement standards then the command staff will - like any other modifications to this standard - put it up for a vote to the detachment membership. </DL Hat> <Personal Hat> My personal objections to the FX are due to fact not of it's size but the fact that it doesn't "look" like a screen used helmet. The dome is off, the tubes are off, so many things are just wrong. So I want it out because of how it looks. </Personal Hat>

FYI I posted some new group tags to reflect the split of 501st folks into two groups: 501st non-TK, and 501st-TK (e.g. detachment members) MEMBERS Members Member (Supporter) 501st MEMBERS * 501st Member 501st Member (Supporter) DETACHMENT MEMBERS ** 501st Trooper 501st Trooper (Supporter) The 501st TK list is still being reviewed against our membership database and a bulk migration of qualified members will happen within the next week or so. * 501st but not a TK ** 501st and a TK

At last! FISD "deployment" standards are ready for final review & voting. Check them out here: http://www.whitearmor.net/requirements/ Note that while discussion is welcome on the open boards, the final voting will be limited to detachment members only (e.g. 501st TK's).

Armor history lesson - pay attention peeps!
Daetrin replied to Daetrin's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
And the lesson continues: http://www.mepd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=25720 I bring this up not to suggest people lean on way or the other, but that you can at least be aware of what's being said. It's a long read and there is some controversy for sure, but some of the info that you can get via summary is quite enlightening. Some people may have heard these arguments already (and over, and over, and over, ad infinitum), but if you're new to the 501st or to TK armor in general, IMHO it's good to educate yourself on the history of what we put on our heads. Notice especially that no one is saying the various makers are bad quality or do bad work. But it does highlight that there can be subtle differences. Personally I love all the buckets (I have a TE2 & AP, and would love to get a Gino as well), and knowing their stories just makes me appreciate each one all the more. -
No worries from a site admin standpoint either. I'd think it's presumed that if it was information for this body as a whole it would be in English as a courtesy, else if the information is specific to an individual or locale, I can't see enforcing an English-only rule.

Until the Legion drops FX from being acceptable for membership, I can't imagine why FX can't be used for reference shots. The LMO specifically included FX in his wish list to me.

Well you know what they say: it's not the quantity of the posts that matters, it's the quality inside. Actually I'm more proud that we're #3 on the list of Det boards that 501st members say they're active on. If we're doing this good after only being around for six months, imagine how much better these boards will rock by the end of the year. There are still tons of tutorials and references to be added for instance, but we've made a great start, and this is a great community.

Yes there is. A squad of all white troopers!

We need them ASAP I'm afraid. For deployment standards, we want some good pix to use as reference. For the Legion, it's not quite so urgent, but the sooner the better. Personally, I'd rather the spec pictures be members from this detachment than gleaned off the web.

I just realized I'm over 1000 posts on these boards. Perhaps I need to spend more time with my family...

First-time builder - Advice?
Daetrin replied to Mr. Accident's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Good news. Don't forget to hop on the boards at www.garrisontitan.com - our screen names are the same there as here. That's expected, else you'll be buying the beers at the next event. ;-) -
As many of you know we (FISD & the Legion) are in the midst of creating Legion and Detachment deployment standards. Work is going well, but what we really need are some good pix of the different makes of armor (e.g. FX, TE, AP, TM, RT). We'll need pix of you from the front, side, and back. Preferably on a neutral background (for ease of cropping), head to toe shot. We know you have some out there - now is the time to stand up and be seen. To submit photos, either reply to this thread or email both [email protected] and [email protected]. To sweeten the deal, not only will you win immortal fame by having your photos selected, I'll also pony up a detachment challenge coin to the victors. How do you beat that? Here's what I've received so far: TE: GundamZeppelin FX: Steve Carter GF: Oliver G?nther RT: Boozel MovieFX: Torsten
