  1. Exactly. There are several topics related to "Getting started". ;-) Welcome aboard.
  2. When I first join a forum I usually read through the announcements for news, especially the stickies: http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showforum=3 There's one called "501st and Detachment Only Forum Access , How to get access" http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=7 Also on most forum, there's a "Getting Started" area, and we have one too right here: Getting Started - Read this First! http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showforum=38 In there are some stickies too, one's called "501st Trooper Status Requests , Request Status Here". http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=16 Both have great instructions. I'd suggest reading through them and seeing if they help.
  3. OK, it's that time again. Time to reflect back on the past few months and think about those who've helped make FISD a success, who've embodied the spirit of troopers helping troopers. Before the final service awards are pinned on, I'd like to take nominations from the floor. So, if you feel there's someone who has really risen above & beyond, feel forward to post or PM me a nomination.
  4. Great question - I haven't heard a peep in a loooong while. Anyone have the skinny?
  5. Agreed. If Terrell isn't able to clear this in a few days, we'll just move forward based on Mark's approval.
  6. Excellent! Just a few detail pix (no need to armor up) and I think we're good. FYI Terrell is on vaca and may not reply for a few days. We could in his stead, but we'd rather not steal his thunder. Always great to see another EIB - you look excellent in your kit
  7. Early reviews say there's actually a decent movie *and* awesome special fx. Got my tickets for the IMAX 3D with my garrison mates on Friday. Anyone else anticipating to see this?
  8. True that - these are beautiful and fun. Would make great x-mas cards. Hmm....
  9. Very inspirational - can't wait for you to get your 501st membership, and then - EIB!
  10. What a cool idea Vic - I do that at times too to remind myself of how far we've come. No worries on pointing that out - no one comes out of the womb knowing everything. Heck, I'd only been in the Legion a year when I started this forum.
  11. For now, EIB says it's OK to use ANH decals for an ESB helmet, though ESB decals are preferred. What it does mention is that the tears/traps be decals and not hand painted.
  12. There is no time limit actually. It's just a goal we set for ourselves to try to achieve. 100 is nice number, so why not go for it?
  13. And some bubbles seem worse than others. The ones I got with my FX were pretty worthless. Mike A. made a set for me when he did my TE2 hero and I can actually see decently out of them - not as great as flat but easily enough to troop in.
  14. See: Why a Stormtrooper Detachment http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=20 Expert Infantryman (EIB) Program Overview http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=5 The low numbering of the topic id's should give an indication of their importance to the detachment Lastly - guys there are only THREE WEEKS left to go to squeeze in 13 EIB. That's four a week. Shift it guys - we're almost there!
  15. Hengstler is the ammo counter, which needs to be removed. The side gaps ideally should be of plastic & not vinyl or fabric, but for now would work. You're in the same town as Brian (tkrestonva) you lucky dude - he'll square you away for sure. And, he's one helluva nice guy to boot!
  16. Matter for what? For 501st or FISD acceptance? Nope, doesn't matter at all. Not like you knew what it was when you bought it.
  17. Still, it looks workable to make a decent bucket out of. Is it light enough for trooping?
  18. I can tell you from experience that nomex is not your friend in cold & wet. Terry certainly has the right of it in advice, and rubber gloves are more canon anyway.
  19. Hi Luis, That comment referred to the hybrid costumes we saw posted to the Legion Council some time ago that showed armor that was part TK, part clone. Since then, this costume has come to be defined as what is shown from the renders and screen caps on this and other threads, essentially a TK with paint, and as such has come back to FISD. This also was OK'd in LC, IIRC, along with Kevin, back some months ago.
  20. We should probably say TE and derived, AP and AP derived instead. Thoughts?
  21. Locking this thread as it was getting off target.
  22. True enough, but the Army & Green Berets are a publicly owned institution. FISD is private, and I'd like to avoid a situation where people believe one armor is better than another due to an incorrect endorsement. Again - nothing against VT and I appreciate him updating his Ebay posts.
  23. Not entirely true. My only beef is that we own the FISD brand like the Legion owns the 501st brand. By using it, he implies we endorse him in particular when we do not. No armor maker should be using the FISD brand in their advertisements. Otherwise, I could care less.
  24. Not sure he is banned - no one seems to know 100% for sure who he is...
  25. I'm holding off judgement until I see a completed set on a real person. I agree with Brian - there are different armors to fit every taste, and what works for one is not the best for others. Diversity is a good thing
