  1. This is going to become even more interesting. Really curious on how you will do that inner bolt...
  2. Yes, feel free to add it. Just make sure to get it in the correct position.
  3. Hi Carl, thanks for the flowers and yes, you made a beautiful blaster there. Glad to see you separated the front sight. Take you time with this... @ Germain (The5thHorseman): yes, he can install the front sight later. I did it the same way. Just one thing: the brass screw head in your grip should get some black (or steel grey) paint. Not sure where you have seen this, but in my build I used a brass screw only because of the correct shape - not the color.
  4. Aaron, I had the same problem just yesterday when finishing a Tamiya model kit (scale 1/24). I used a permanent marker to add a semi gloss black frame to all windows and lights. Can tell you, it was no fun to do this. For this 911 GT2 kit I saw no other chance than this, but for the ears on a helmet kit I would do it like Derrek stated. Good luck man
  5. Had the same problem but didn't cut it, just glued it. Sorry, I cannot paste links from my computer at work, but in my signature below you can click on the link "ANH Stunt TM" and scroll to entry #36 on page 2. There you see what I mean.
  6. This weathering is the most realistic I have seen since joining the FISD. Very talented.
  7. Not much years ago, most people wouldn't have thought about replacing their end cap clip with such a nice hand made piece, just to upgrade accuracy so slightly. The evolution of modifications during the last months will have some enduring impact on future builds...
  8. Very well done! That is an often overlooked detail. Highly recommended for future builds.
  9. Working on new Completion Sets...

  10. Offline until 21st of Feb.

  11. Some pictures of your build progress would be nice
  12. Unless he is going to cut that abdominal plate and hides the cut under the belt...
  13. Wow - again Very well done. Have no idea how difficult it is to build this from metal, but you achieved a very good result. Maybe keep looking for some smaller nuts on the end caps and add these little side stubs. But I wouldn't care too much of that. You've already got great power cylinders
  14. Wow, seeing the first two pictures before reading the text, I thought that is a real scope. You've really done a very good and realistic weathering on that. If the rest of your build is on the same level ........
  15. Indeed a very nice solution for the electronics. Following...
  16. Not sure if that'll work, as the aluminum brackets slip onto the belt and then cover the belt joint. With additional velcro here, it will be hard getting it in place...
  17. That is (in my opinion) the big advantage if you decide for Paul's armor: it will be made to your preference. And that means not just having the choice between a kit and a finished helmet (or armor). It's much more. In case of a finished helmet for example, Paul can make several things as you want them to be (position of the brow, gaps at ears, eye openings, etc.) Fully finished armor can be made according to individual body measurements, if you want that. Paul made my helmet and armor exactly as we had discussed it in our messages and I would always do this again.
  18. Good to have additional confirmation on that. Really good news!
  19. Sorry Paul, I was ABSOLUTELY sure on this one and checked my archived messages, because I definitely had that sentence in mind about "...yellowing as the original suits did..." But I am happy to say you were right! When typing entry #3 in this thread, I did that from top of my head but that sentence was from somebody else and I had mixed that up. Sorry for this! In the end this means at least good news for me too, because I took the 1.5mm ABS and always thought it WILL start yellowing after many years... Glad to get confirmation it WILL NOT The relevant text section in my earlier comment has been marked because of this. Sorry for any confusions this might have caused.
Muss man mögen... Es war LadyInWhite und ich hatte mir dieses Zitat von ihr auch in meinem Armor-Thread erlaubt: "I want to look like I walked straight off the screen, not straight off the set." Das trifft einfach den Nagel auf den Kopf
  21. Hey Mark, have exactly been where you are now and can only agree to what Steve already said! Just one additional thing: according to Paul, the 1.5mm ABS will start yellowing over the years as the original suits did. But that didn't stop me from chosing this, as it simply looks much more realistic as the glossy super white. In case you want to have a look at the appearance of the 1.5mm ABS just click the 3rd link in my signature below... Hope that helped a bit.
  22. These are sold out very fast, but you can leave your email address for notification on new kits. It's worth the waiting...
  23. Hey Brian, very good work! The clear coat mentioned in your first posting will only be on the grip, right? What about giving that inner bolt a slight washing to get a more metallic look? Looking forward for your weathering. That can add so much to the appearance of a blaster...
  24. Hi Chris, thanks for your comment and the 'likes' Don't know if you read it, but using that silver layer of paint has paid off at the end to get a more realistic look. Sometimes there are easy solutions... Btw: my full respect for your scratch build, man! Before buying my resin kit I thought about a scratch build as well, but discarded the idea in fear to mess it all up. I didn't dare to do this...
