  1. Its being said, the originals were made of plastic, not rubber. And I heared the rake tines are getting smaller towards one end. Would say it simply depends on the level of accuracy you are aiming for and what you are willing to pay for...
  2. Option #3: HQO High Quality Optics Had to spend some money on these (more than I wanted) and ordered several thicknesses to check the different visual appearances and credibility. Even the small 10mm size was available (but very limited and expensive) so I just took one. Summary: Pro + crystal clear lenses with several domes + precisely cut and rounded Con - just the price Estimated upcharge to include this into the Completion Sets: roughly around 8 - 12 bucks! As stated at the beginning, this thread is meant to collect feedback about which of the options would be the best to be included in the Completion Sets. As these sets are made for the builders out there, you all should decide about this and the "Topic Poll Option" seems to be an ideal way to work this out. So I activated it for this thread and would be glad if you could vote for your favorite. If you know additional options to add here, please let us all know. Thanks in advance to everybody for participating on this poll.
  3. Option #2: Next item in mind were jewelers lenses. Thanks to Scott (Tusken RTT) for that inspiration. These are much more expensive than the "cabochons" and available only in very few sizes. I hoped the big 21mm lens would fit in the scope's rear end, while the 12mm lens would be fine at the front. But this would result in having to buy 2 jeweler lenses for 1 scope, which could get pricy for adding these into the Completion Sets. So I started looking for a version, containing both required lens sizes and was happy as a child to find this: According to the label, the big lens in this combined unit is 22mm (instead of the earlier shown 21mm lenses). That doesn't cause a problem, but the small lens does! 12mm instead of 10mm is a visible difference. And like Aaron (usaeatt2) once said about the power cylinders, a minor deviation makes the whole thing look off. With the front lens it's the same. Of course the 12mm lens would physically fit into the scope, but you have to seriously enlarge the opening (rear lens in this pic. is 21mm) However, as you can see here, Scott (Tusken RTT) managed to fix that problem and get a nice final result - meaning: there are ways to work with these lenses... Summary: Pro + real lenses with a nice dome + precisely cut and rounded Con - only one required size available (front lens is 12 instead of 10mm) - fitting the 12mm-lens makes the scope front look off (or requires additional work) Estimated upcharge to include this into the Completion Sets: roughly around 8 - 10 bucks!
  4. Option #1: First thing I found were these glass blobs, also called "cabochons". You can get them in shops for self-made jewelry in bunches for surprisingly little money and they are available in many different sizes. Although looking good on first sight, the dome seems to be too extreme when comparing to an original lens. On closer inspection I found another flaw: when looking at the top, most of them are not 100% correctly circular rounded, meaning you will get little gaps between the lens and your resin scope. See next image... Summary: Pro + cheap + both required sizes available Con - extreme dome - not exactly rounded Estimated upcharge to include this into the Completion Sets: 1 or 2 bucks.
  5. As most of you know, I am offering E-11 Completion Sets, containing a lot of required things to add more realism to your blaster builds. While recently improving the sets to a new version, I also thought about adding some scope lenses. That turned out to be more difficult than expected... This thread is to collect all options we have and to discuss which would be the best for our need.
  6. Dress code: jeans and TK boots
  7. No problem. Happy if the info was useful
  8. For the counter conversion kit you will need a resin counter in your blaster kit to add this to it, while the counter imitates replace the complete counter on your blaster. Both threads worked fine when I clicked them, nothing locked.
  9. Sounds like an expensive idea, Matt. However, I can fully understand your point and there is already a solution for your problem here on the FISD. Dennis (Blue Snaggletooth) offers Counter Conversion Kits and Counter Imitates
  10. If really aiming for Centurion, I would stay on the safe side and continue looking for something else. Not saying these boots are incorrect, but I just would try to avoid any upcoming problems for reaching that level.
  11. Awesome idea. Loving the static bursts. Just wondering how you want to control this while holding your blaster...?!
  12. Perfect! Copied that. Will see if I can find something more accurate in the future... Thanks for sharing the measurements
  13. Looking good, good, gooood Any plans on weathering the blaster? Or to add a washing to the ejection port and inner bolt? Your inner bolt suddenly appears on some pictures and already has the correct shape and a spring attached to it. Might have missed it, but where did that came from? Any WIP pictures of it?
  14. Hey Art, pretty nice progress Just wondered about the shape and size of your re-done ejection port. Compared to the original it somehow looks a bit off. Not sure on that, could just be the angle of the picture. However, you got the real thing next to you, so you can measure to double check... Thanks for showing this comparison picture (meaning this honestly). Will definitely need to find a thicker ring to be added into future completion sets... What is that steel ring's diameter? 4mm?
  15. Enjoy your time, Steve On a side note, this thread brings up a question: would it be possible to add something like "automatic out of office reply" to the forum software? - especially thinking of people with "for sale" threads. So far, all they can do is to edit the "What's on your mind?" subject in the profile, but only a few members might notice that. The majority will keep wondering, why their PMs aren't answered. Just an idea... Again, have a good time Steve
  16. The camera will distract from your armor in any way, but what about mounting it somewhere onto (or under) your blaster? Then you would have to option to switch it on and off and "aim" for what you want to catch. Depending on how you hold the blaster and how you move, the camera could be hidden (partially). Just an idea...
  17. Hey Phil, the blaster is looking good. Was it wrapped in air bubble foil? Folding stock and magazine do like it was... Regarding the spring: You might want to have a look at the completion sets. There you will find much more things to upgrade your blaster...
  18. Hi Sebastien, welcome to the FISD The DoopDoo's kit you've found is not a bad choice and will be available again as time goes by. You can register yourself to receive a message when these are in stock again. Although I ran a DoopyDoo's build myself, I would meanwhile strongly suggest to go for the Phoenix Props kit from Derrek (here on the FISD). Seems to be the better choice..
  19. Never tired of seeing well made fan films... ...and that is really a good one!
  20. Hi Ben, I am not familiar with the type of plastics, comming out of a 3D printer, but do you think these parts would still be flexible enough to be worn without breaking? If the armor isn't flexible, you can hardly troop in it as it will break. Just a thought...
  21. Lol. Nice story. You might want to study some reference pictures from real Sterlings while running your build Your last picture of the repaired charging handle shows an M19 scope, while earlier pictures had the M38 in the background. Where did this come from? Keep the pictures coming. It's fun following...
  22. A very interesting start. Definitely worth clicking the Follow-button! May I ask how thick your aluminum sheets are? Will you use different thickness for individual parts?
  23. It's been a while... Time for a new picture. Just for fun (# 3) Seems like the Emperor has recently infiltrated the FISD to see, what his troopers are doing here. He does not look pleased...
  24. Cool armor + nice background + good photographer = stunning pictures
