  1. Congratulations James, and welcome to EIB!!!
  2. Looks good, James!!! Only little thing I'd say to look at changing for accuracy's sake - nobody will ever see it while you're in armor - is to get flat-tipped screws for your TD instead of Phillips. Should be quick and painless!! Good luck, Star brother!!
  3. Fantastic looking build, Michael... Everyone has mentioned the rotating thighs, so I'll just gloss over it right here. Only tiny little detail I'll mention (and I don't believe it is an EIB thing, either off the top of my head) is that you could paint the screws in your TD black. In the pictures, they look silver. Phenomenal build... Should be quick and painless.
  4. Right??? LoL
  5. Congratulations Pedro, and welcome!!!
  6. Two quick things I'll chime in with... 1: As Ian said above... Once you start building, you won't want to stop. 2: The helmet build is more complex than the assembly of the other armor parts, so if you fully intend to build a helmet first and pass it to your son it isn't a bad idea. However, it MIGHT be good to get comfortable with the ABS and the tools/techniques etc while working on the armor before you dive into the bucket. Just food for thought. As you've seen, many Troopers bought the bucket first and then the armor and they're just fine. It really depends on your comfort level, I suppose.
  7. That statement, right there..... Pretty much sums up every single engineer I've ever met in my life. Spot on!!!
  8. Piece of cake.... I may go back to my hotel room and make a couple of them tonight. yeah, right... Impressive work, to be sure!
  9. Brian first thing, I am sorry for the situation that you find yourself dealing with. The loss of a friend or loved one is never easy, and suicide only compounds things exponentially. There are those who say that it is a "victimless crime" but I challenge those people to go and discuss that with the friends and loved ones of a suicide victim. I pray that you and the others affected by his passing find strength to deal with it and are able to remember and hold onto what drew you to him in the first place. As for the bucket issue... Yeah, Eric, Andrea, and Ty all touched on things that I was going to say. I'm not aware of a code of any kind. I personally don't let strangers handle my armor/bucket at all outside of a potential table set-up environment. But I certainly (and personally) wouldn't bring my bucket to an alcohol fueled environment that was not specifically a Legion/Garrison sort of function to begin with. As Andrea said, the public at large or worse, the people that like to give you a hard time about it don't understand or care about the amount of work, money, time etc that you've put into it, and they won't take care of it in the same way that you yourself (or another Legion member) would do. Remember why you've set upon this path, be mindful of the amount of yourself that you've invested in your armor at this point in time, that includes those same things I mentioned earlier, money, hands-on time, research time, blood, sweat, tears, emotional investment, etc. When you talk about stopping at 90% complete, remember what you have when you come here to FISD. We all understand what's going on, and why you're doing it, and we know the type of impact that yo'ure going to have on your community once you've completed it and joined the Legion. Hang in there, Brian.
  10. We had a similar story from the New England region here in the US this summer, and I know that several people here at FISD chipped in to make a little boy's dream of receiving cards in the mail come true. So, here's another similar story: http://www.wfaa.com/story/news/local/2014/12/09/young-cancer-christmas-cards-quinlan-andrew-boy/20151721/ This one is close to home, as he's just down the road here in Star Garrison territory. We've all jumped on this locally, and the possibility of a special visit to him is being looked at as I understand it, but I know that I shared this via FB a few days ago and some of you TKs are already making things happen for him. In the article are two addresses, one to send cards, and the other for any packages that might be sent. Further, at the bottom of the page is a link to donate to a fundraiser to assist the family with costs associated with his treatment. He is a big fan of many sci-fi sort of movies, and his favorite Star Wars character is Anakin Skywalker. If you've got a spare Christmas Card, and/or a spare trading card, perhaps take a moment to put an envelope together and send it his way. Thanks TKs/FISD...
  11. Yeah... Clearly not accurate, clearly altered to allow them to do their dances, etc. Definitely interested in the possible conversation that (might have) taken place.
  12. Congratulations Pete, and welcome to the EIB ranks!!!
  13. Congratulations Clint!!! Welcome to the ranks!!!
  14. Dustin, did you take a look at my scope rail fabrication process? If you head to my build thread and navigate your way to page 17, that's where the scope rail fabrication begins. I'm by no means a master, but mine turned out pretty well.
  15. I actually switched my name from Dark CMF to my real name on FB only within the last month or two, because another Legion member who was using his TKID as his FB account name had someone complain that he wasn't using his real name, and FB just deleted his account. He lost everything associated with the account, which was what prompted me to make the switch. I'd look into a way to contact FB, to see if you can talk to someone there and explain that it is a business, not a person. Perhaps that will help you out somehow, but if it is happening on the log-in screen then it is legitimately an issue with them. As Matt mentioned, they are on a mission as of late, to make everyone use their real name. You are not showing up anywhere on my FB either... You may have already been "zapped" by the FB police...
  16. I missed this earlier somehow, but I think that your D-ring will probably be alright. When you're looking at it from the "inside" (back) it looks rough, but from the outside I think it looks fine. Once you get it painted and assembled it won't draw any attention to itself.
  17. That's pretty much what I'm thinking. Completely.
  18. Yeah... The partial reveal of the Episode VII Stormtroopers has caused a conundrum for me... I know that it will take awhile for the CRLs and EIB/Centurion details to be ironed out, and then even longer for the armor makers to bring the molds up to the necessary level of detail. Besides, I'd already decided on Fixer (Republic Commando) as my next build. LoL Now... Now there is some internal debate.
  19. Thank you, Kyle! Happy (as always) to be of help to my fellow Troopers!!! It probably seems odd to see an update to a blaster build that was completed about three or four months ago, but there are two reasons. 1: I've been compiling a "Table of Contents" for the build thread, and I'll be editing that into page one pretty soon. 2: Way back in May, I told Aaron that if this build thread reached more than 9000 views, I'd add a special GIF to it. I'll readily admit that I'm a few views late, but the views are here, so here is the GIF, enjoy! LoL
  20. Ugh... The scope. LoL I actually stopped after about 1 inch of drilling at each end so I could install the lenses, and Aaron (usaeatt2) made a comment about my not drilling it all the way out, so I went back, looked at it and decided it could be done. Then I did it. I will add however, that it is NOT for the faint of heart. I very nearly destroyed the scope (and I'm sure that I'd have done a number on the hand that was holding it at the time) by drilling right through the side of it. You've done great work so far. Your question about the spring... I painted mine, but I had a couple of different colors of paint that I was using. You do look to be pretty much ready to start assembling it!
  21. I'll definitely be looking forward to the electronics build. I've never done much electronics work, but this stuff (and even arduino to a degree) appears to be relatively straight-forward and simple. Truly exciting stuff!! Best of luck, can't wait to see the results.
  22. Germain has given you the best possible link to get them. I'd advise that you order two sets - just in case of a mistake. It would truly suck to make a mistake and not have a spare rivet on hand to re-do it!
  23. Awesome update, Diana! I've been considering doing some updates to my thread, for many similar reasons that you've done here. A: I've got more work to do for my Centurion application (eventually we'll get the house set up, and I'll host the mother of all armor parties when it does! ) B: As you said, the armor is never really "done" even if it is changing the electronics configuration, as a newer TK you always seem to be tinkering with something (until you find another build to do Heh heh heh...) and it is probably best to share those experiences with new recruits/cadets who are reading through our build threads. C: Just because, I am also waiting on ordering cards until I have my Centurion approval and personally I recommend that same approach. If you don't, you'll have cards right away - which is awesome. There are many days where I legitimately actively think "I wish I had some cards... :(" But I know that if I order them now, I'll look at them after my Centurion is complete and nit-pick them. Because that's how I am. LoL Great update, love the jacket also!
  24. Awesome work Scott. Welcome to the EIB Ranks!!!
  25. Awesome work Ty... I'll be back soon to offer you some formal congratulations and welcoming.
